Part 2 was so good!!! I love Mary so much, she just wants to help other veterans out, this whole thing is stupid. Also: I'm not trusting Johnathan Smalls as far as I can throw him. I sometimes wish I didn't know the original stories, bc he seemed nice. But John's right about the racist vibe.

And can I just say how amazing this podcast is at creating visuals in my little head? I could not stop laughing at the mental image of Sherlock and John on that bike! Also John's ass hanging out. Get it doctor.

I loved the first part of SIGN so much. I already have so many thoughts about ittttt. So go away now if you don't care for an unorganized, early morning ramble (that will soon be joined by a reblog when I've listened to part 2).

I'm so elated that my theory about Mariana being this adaptation's Mary Morstan. I based it on her mentioning her father a lot, especially the convo between her and John in GLOR felt like foreshadowing. A little disappointed that they don't get to bond in grief.

Emery has already solved the problem of adapting Tonga, which i applaud him for. Leaving Tonga for later would make many sherlockians worry about the portrayal.

Also, how terrible for Tonga to actually be a child!!! Well done, Emery, I'm sad about it.

What if the man who had a heart attack on the bus (from ep. 1) was Captain Morstan? Or someone else important to the case? (I don't remember if he survived 🤔)

I hope we're going to India to give the treasure back, instead of letting it lie at the bottom of the Thames.

Happy 1 year anniversary to Mr Sherlock Holmes! Here's a litttleee celebratory comic from me

Oh I would be left a wreck! (I will regardless, but two years would be torture) Fortunately, I don't belive Goalhanger would let that happen. They would no doubt lose listeners and patrons, no decent company would let that happen. My theory is that S&co (the fictional company) will soon get very busy, and we won't get to hear every adventure they go on. So when Sherlock "dies" Watson has something to post still. I belive (correct me if I'm wrong) tha acd!Watson wrote and published stories of Holmes while he was dead in the timeline. And though Doyle probably just didn't care enough to explain it, having that adapted as a part of Watsons mourning, being to sort through all their archived adventures and releasing them. I don't think there'll be enough adventures to fill two years though, maybe there'll be a break, or maybe they'll do EMPT right after. All I know with much certainty is that Goalhanger wouldn't let a long break happen (and I don't think Joel Emery would be interested in it either)

I just had a not-so-fun thought. Since Sherlock & Co. is aware that it's a podcast and occasionally references real word events that are currently happening or have recently happened...Do you think the creators will stop releasing episodes of the podcast for two or three years after the Reichenbach Fall to create a consistent and realistic timeline of Sherlock's faked death and John and Mariana mourning? Or do you think they'll shorten the time of Sherlock's absence to merely a few months of playing dead for the audience if they go down this route? Maybe after Sherlock "dies" we'll just get a few sad episodes of John venting to us about missing Sherlock. Whatever happens, I'm both looking forward to and fearing how they will handle this part of the story!

Firstly: let’s address the elephant in the room. THEY’RE DOING THE BOOKS!!! I’m super excited for this—I thought they were only planning to go through the adventures! I felt like this week’s episode was dramatic, and though I shamefully zoned out through a bit of it, I think some of the most shocking bits kept me entertaining and excited for next week.

You're entitled to your opinion, but tagging your post that directly contradicts Arthur Conan Doyle's canon, as acd canon, is a bit unhelpful at best.

I'm familiar with the german adaptation you speak of, though, I've been meaning to dust off my old German skills because of it. It seems really cool!!

But, referencing an adaptation as canon is simply, objectively, wrong. Although Sherlock Holmes absolutely belongs to the world, your preffered adaptation doesn't suddenly become canon. And we certainly don't all "know how it endded". You contradict yourself: you say you don't consider acd canon, say "we all"(meaning everyone knows german suddenly, or what?) consider your headcanon canon, and then tag it as acd(???)

Each to their own, but your fandom lingo needs updating, you come off as ignorant.

Sherlock & Co is doing The Sign of Four as a 10 parter and 1 year anniversary project.

Well. I know my standards and expectations, therefore I am going to wait for 10 weeks to listen to it in full.

We all know how Canon ended:

John Watson intends to marry Mary Morstan.

But Sherlock Holmes makes him choose: a short episode of wedded bliss, or a life full of adventures with him.

Naturally (quite elementary) the good doctor hurries after him, apologising because a marriage with a woman is a stupid idea, and he’ll choose Holmes and their shared life always and forever.

No, you cannot simply ignore Mary or gloss over the fact or some simple rainbow. Proper apology and explicit saying that you choose Sherlock Holmes and their shared life.

That’s the baseline. When you cannot deliver even the bare minimum, then sorry not sorry Sherlock & Co but I’ll choose canon instead.
