Unpopular opinion: The fandom puts too strong of an emphasis on Sirius being handsome that it's become an integral part of the Fanon character but by all means, Sirius's whole attitude and demeanor wouldn't change that much if we lowered his attractiveness. I don't think he ever cared and I believe around 45% of how fandom mischaracterizes Sirius is due to focusing on his looks. For example, his arrogance and cockiness which are rooted in his intelligence and abilities in 95% of instances, becomes reduced to mere vanity and narcissism about his hair.

I always say that he doesn't place much value in his looks and probably dislikes the attention it gets him - he is contemptuous of fawning behaviour. Plus it aggravates his core wound of not being loved for who he actually is instead of who people want him to be (in the case of his family) or what people are projecting onto him because they like his exterior.

IMO his intelligence and intensity are far more attractive than him being 'handsome.' And yes, if he's arrogant about anything it is his mind which he seems to truly prize.

I do also think his good looks are often equated with sex and can veer into this purity culture take on casual sex.

So I’m the person who made the post asking for Merlin fanfic recs and HOLY SHIT thank you so much for mentioning Loaded March 😭 It’s my favorite Merlin fic of all time and I was getting really sad cause no one was mentioning it.

I LOVE LOADED MARCH! I think I made so many posts about it the last time I read it lol. And it's so addicting to me that everytime someone even mentions it on Tumblr, I get the urge to re-read it (and I swear after seeing your post, I did open it again though I don't know if I'll be able to read the whole thing now)

I HAVE! After Loaded March, I went on a Footloose spree and read all her works. Almost all of her works are in my favorites, downloaded and all.

Excluding Loaded March, I think pretty much all are there. I adore We are all Diamonds.

I also love the very crack-ish very dark-ish Next to Die, solely because arrogant Arthur and authority Merlin who are both psychopaths written by footloose is a treat to read.

And oh, Following the Beast and All the Dead are here where I want something action-oriented and brutal (though Next to die fits in this one also).

Also, Shadowlord and Pirate King is brilliantly written and the art with it, holy shit! Mushroomtale and footloose are both genius at everything they've given us on A03. The Western AUs are also pretty good.
