Idk why but villains with standards will always be the funniest thing to me. like you'll get someone who will take absolute pleasure in doing the most vile things but paying their minions less than minimum wage? how dare you insult their honor. there'll be a guy who just loves terrorizing people but if you say something sexist about his sidekick he'll punch you in the throat and step aside with glee to let her pummel you. villains who are like "murder is fine generally but if you're a homophobe then I'll tie you to a boulder and catapult you into the ocean". Idk there's just something innately hilarious about a villain who is very definitively bad, like extremely morally reprehensible, but like there are just certain things that even they won't stoop to, thereby implying that those who do are worse

Hot take but the people who makes jokes about how Shigaraki and Dabi are disgusting for not showering or taking better care of themselves really forget that:
At least 70% of Dabi's body is covered in burns and I'm saying this as someone who had relatives getting terrible burns: you have to be double careful with those injuries if you don't want one to get an infection.
One of the treatments for that shit involves daily peeling the burned parts to avoid them from getting contaminated and then apply the medication it needs.
By the way, I bet Dabi's inmune system sucks because he needs to take antibiotics constantly. I bet he's constantly getting sick. Someone buy this guy some multivitamins please. I'm worried.
For what we know, he's also having a terrible time processing food and getting the nutrients he needs to keep himself alive. His poor stomach.
But let's keep the focus.
Dabi probably cleans his wounds regularly. He needs to apply something to prevent infections, he needs to replace the staples, etc.
I actually thinks he needs to clean his clothes a lot because they can contaminate him too.
When it comes to Shigaraki, we have seen him changing outfits and dressing nicely as soon as he can. He's clothes are usually comfortable and practical.
I mean, he's wearing cut hands of real dead people not because he likes the aesthetic. There's a whole deal in the manga on those hands symbolizing his development and being directly linked to his traumas.
Really, for the people who think everything can be cured with beauty products: that's shit, pal. Emotions and traumas can generate physical responses. I think that's the case of Shigaraki's scratching, which means it won't go away just by applying some medicine. It can tone down, but won't dissappear.
The representation they give is amazing because it's very very important to understand there's a whole deal of people who doesn't have the time or the money to have perfect skin and it doesn't fucking matter. They deserve to live as much as anyone, they deserve love and appreciation and there are more people like that than there's people with precious wonderful skin care.
That's why it hurts so many people when artist just erase their scars and burn marks and scratches. They don't have to "heal" or "erase" those to be happy or live healthy.
Both Dabi and Shigaraki represent people with chronic conditions. It's more likely they'll never heal from it— well, they obviously can because this is fantasy and anything can fucking happen and be valid, but I guess you understand my point.
It's so funny how Dabi and Shigaraki were the two first to call out each other on their looks. That's recognition, buddy. They realized the other was dealing with something similar, even if subconsciously, and that's why it was okay at some level. They were okay with it.
The rest of the League just adapted. They even got scared when Bakugo blasted the hand off Shigaraki's face. It was Shigaraki who stopped them and told them it was okay at some level.
And oh my fucking God they are poor.
The conditions they live in are precarious as it's best, specially for people with wounds that are constantly reopening. I don't know if you know how poor people live but spoiler alert, they can't exactly pay for A+ treatment and psychological help and other stuff.
When you're living in such misery, small things like dyeing your hair or playing videogames can help a lot. You don't feel the need to be beautiful so other people can admire you, you don't own society shit, so you'll better do what you like if you want to find a reason to stay alive at all.
And don't even get me started on the jokes about them being incels or whatever. This is something way more personal for me but I'm tired of such complex characters being reduced to sexual matters. I couldn't care less about sex and being honest, knowing that the manga has said absolutely nothing about it, we're not even sure they do give a fuck either.

Space to Breathe
So I've been thinking a lot about pacing and structure in my own stories, and one thing that's become increasingly clear is the importance--the necessity, really--of giving your story space to breathe.
Particularly for novels* with a lot of tension, there's a tendency to think the whole story should be tense: if you drop the tension, all of the air goes out of the story.
But in fact, the opposite tends to be true. As is true with so many things, if you spend an extended time in a feeling of suspense or anxiety, it all tends to flatten out into something less meaningful. The moments that are supposed to feel very impactful end up feeling the same as the less impactful moments.
What you can--and should--do instead is give your story space to breathe. Deliberately lower the tension for a scene or even a chapter and let everything settle. Here are a few ways to do that:
Have your character process a traumatic or impactful event. One of the easiest ways to cheapen a character injury, death, near-death, or massive reveal is to not give any time to process it. So give your character a chance to cry, talk about it, or otherwise process what happened. It doesn't need to be immediately after the event, because often you will want to keep that tension high for a while, but if you are giving the reader a traumatic event, give them the emotional payoff of having the characters deal with it.
Have your characters feel safe. This can be a real safety or a false safety, but if your characters feel/are in danger for much of the story, giving them that sense of safety can ease the tension for a little bit. It can also increase the impact of an event immediately after it--being attacked or injured when they feel safe has a very different emotional payoff for the reader than being attacked or injured when they already feel like they're in danger.
Have your characters take advantage of a lull in tension. Along with the previous instance, this can take place when there's an in-story lull--the prom isn't for another week, the ritual can't happen until the full moon, the enemy is still a hundred miles away--where the characters themselves deliberately decide to put the tension aside and take some times for themselves.
In all of these instances, you give yourself an opportunity for an even higher emotional payoff later while also providing the characters with an opportunity for more normal interaction. How do they interact when the stakes aren't so high? What do their relationships look like?
*short stories have an entire different structure and different sense of pacing and tension, and this advice doesn't apply nearly as well to them.

When you ask this, you’re asking something to judge the worth of a concept. So, here’s an honest answer. I cannot tell you if your idea is a good one, but I can certainly tell you that is has potential. Asking someone else to give their opinion of a quick blurb that probably represents eons-worth of thought in your head is something people seem to do a lot, but I don’t believe it’s the right question to be asking.
Every idea.
And I mean Every. Idea.
Has the potential to be a best-selling one, one that goes down in history if it’s executed well. Asking someone whether their idea is a good or a bad one doesn’t do your concept justice.
Don’t ask others if you’re good enough, because you already are. Someone else’s answer won’t change that. All it takes is hard work and dedication to make this idea the best thing that ever existed; you just have to be willing to make the effort for it.
Your idea has the potential to be so much more than good. Go and write it.
MFBeyblade Minecraft AU
Gingka tames every wolf and names them all after his friends
The first one is named Hokuto, because obviously
Madoka is the server owner
Kenta’s the best player, somehow
Benkei runs a farm
Hikaru built her house in the ocean
and by that i mean she found an ocean monument and dried it out over the course of about a month
Madoka found out and was so impressed she made Hikaru an admin
Madoka and Yuki like to experiment with redstone together
they saw Kyoya exactly once when he spawned in and then he disappeared into the mountains
they see his death messages in the chat all the time but not even benkei can actually find him
Madoka’s promised diamonds to the first person to screenshot Kyoya. the amount increases every week or so
Tsubasa is the dude you see if you need help finding something specific
Yu??? He’s on the sever??? But no one ever knows where?? He pops in and out of their little town then fucks off to nowhere again with a trail of tamed wolves running after them
some of them were stolen from Gingka
the only way they could convince Ryuga to play was to give him admin privileges and fix up a stronghold in the nether for him to stay in but he actually doesn’t fuck with them (at least not all the time)
Kenta visits him regularly
Ryuga has only 1 death and it was because of Kyoya (they think)
Gingka’s house is regularly attacked by creepers because Ryuga is a bitter young man with power
Hyoma doesn’t know wtf is going on, he barely knows how to play, but it’s a fun experience and he usually just helps Benkei with his farm
everyone is absolutely fucking positive that they’ve seen a user named Doji stalking around but he’s not on the player list and it’s at the most random moments and no matter what Madoka does to beef up server security she can’t get rid of him
even Kyoya is concerned
Ryuga refuses to listen to any conversation about it. as soon as Doji’s name is mentioned in the chat he logs out.

Kyouya and leadership
Kyouya is the leader of the gang. I’m not talking about the Face Hunter (even if it’s also true), but about our beloved bladers.
He is shown as a natural leader. First, there are the Face Hunters. We can think them as only followers, but they wanted to follow Kyouya. They didn’t really care about the Face Hunter thing, or stealing Bey-point. They didn’t do anything while he was in the Wolf Canyon. They just waited for him to come back, because they were genuinely fond of Kyouya.
“Without you, the Face Hunter were pretty much baseless.” - episode 9
“Come on. Bring me our Kyouya, please, the cool one.” - episode 10
“If only Kyouya was here to guide us ! He, at least, is a true leader.” - episode 11
At first, we could think Benkei only said this because he admires Kyouya. But when Kyouya decided to come with Ginga, Benkei, Kenta and Madoka to confront Doji, they let him lead immediately. Despite most of them had only see him being the leader of the Face Hunter and cracking up after the Wolf Canyon. Logically, they shouldn’t have been so prompt to follow him, even if Ginga truly believe in his blader’s spirit from the very first time he met his eyes.
Kyouya appeared and everyone was like “Great ! Everything will be fine from now on !”. He took almost all decisions when they infiltrate the Dark Nebula Castle, as soon as he arrived, and the others followed him. No one even thought to protest. And Ginga, who wasn’t very comfortable letting his friends coming with him, didn’t even say a world about Kyouya being here. He trusted him completely.
Then, there was the travel to Koma. Kyouya didn’t seem to know how to react in front of Benkei’s, Kenta’s and Madoka’s behavior. But it changed when they finally reached Koma. He reminded them they were here to help Ginga and said he would go where he’s no matter what.
The Wild Fang followed him. From the very beginning, Nile took his decisions according to Kyouya’s words and actions. He even changed his mind, despite not being easy to influence.
When Kyouya came back to fight the Spiral Force, he took the lead again. He brought his Wild Fang and they splitted up to help the one they feel more linked at. He didn’t ask permission to go to the Hades City, contrary to the others, and only waited for them to take their decision. As soon they got near to the city, he took back his leader’s role. He helped everyone who needed help (Masamune and Dashan, for example), he gave orders and hurried Ginga when he hesitated. He fought Damian to let Ginga and Masamune do the final stages, but it was HIS decision, and he ordered them to keep going.
The same happened with the legendary bladers quest. Kyouya decided to come along and everyone (except Yuuki) was happy to see him. The group spent most of their time running after him. He shut up Yuuki when he annoyed him, told Madoka what kind of informations she had to search and said what they had to do next. They didn’t protest (well, Yuuki would have liked, but he didn’t dare too… and even if Kyouya’s behavior bothered Madoka once or twice, she still obeyed). They did as they were told.
And Ginga, the show’s hero, doesn’t mind at all. He follows Kyouya happily, while he can’t stand the idea of Masamune being the leader of the Gan Gan Galaxy.
Kyouya is also the one who sets things in motion. He’s the one who said first he was going to participate to the Battle Bladers (forcing Ginga to consider this as a tournament and not only a way to get his revenge), the one who makes everyone move in the first part of Fury and the one who has the idea to give Leone’s power to Ginga.
