✨🔥✨Weight Loss Prompt 8: How can you stay motivated when you don’t see immediate results?
This is a bit of a harder prompt than usual because I get very discouraged when I don't see immediate results. I think some ways for me to stay motivated could include:
Focusing on the journey itself and enjoying it.
Setting realistic goals. Instead of wishing I could wake up tomorrow and be in the shape I was as a teenager, I need to set a realistic goal of losing a certain number of pounds per week. This way, I have a better chance of hitting it, feel proud of that achievement, and look forward to reaching it again the following week.
Setting challenges for myself. I always set weight loss challenges, like aiming to be a certain size by a special holiday. I do better with challenges because I love competing against myself. Knowing I have a specific time frame to lose a certain amount of weight helps keep me motivated.
Rewarding myself for meeting my challenges. In addition to the smaller rewards I give myself every week or at the end of each day for staying on my diet, I can allow myself to be a bit more extravagant with my rewards when I pass a certain challenge. I already have one reward in place for hitting my first weight loss goal—a book by an author I really enjoy (it's called The Chateau by Catherine Cooper). I plan to have a lazy day, read in bed all day, and finish it, along with a small meal and a new set of pajamas.
Keeping a visual representation of what I want. I have an inspiration board and plan to put a favorite picture of myself (from when I was thinner) on there as something to work toward. I also spend WAY too much time on Pinterest and have accumulated a nice collection of clothes I want, so I could print out a certain outfit and add that to my inspiration board as well.
