Another Stormcast Knight. The plan was for each to have their own dominant color, like Knight heraldry, but in a group it comes off more like the power rangers. Oh well

What was your process for the lava sword? Any suggestions for doing a similar thing scaled up?
Just a simple layering process really, no fancy techniques. I wish I'd taken step by step pictures but alas. I started with the white basecoat, then stippled on yellow, orange, and then red. I didn't use normal layering to avoid stripes, a natural look would have more variation and unevenly cooling areas. You want the inner parts to show the lighter colors, as the core is molten hot, with the darker cooling edge on the outside. Do one more layer of stippling with a deep grey on the edges and a sprinkling across the rest of the blade to represent cooling spots and that's perdy much it. If you're familiar with the coconut crab tyranid technique, it's kind of like a dirtier smaller scale version of that
Hope this helps! If I do it again I'll be sure to take step by step pictures. I've found other people using the same method and other colors as well, if you want a more magical look. Edit to answer the rest since I cannot read, I don't think it would suffer much from being scaled up, the only thing I would suggest is to add more layers of variation to the color gradiation if it's a big enough weapon. A giant axe being wielded by a Khorne Bloodthirster, for example, I might do 5 or 7 layers going from yellow to deep red instead of the simple 3 here. A life sized weapon... not sure the technique would hold up, but you'd definitely need a lot more layers
Like most unoriginal men I'm a big fan of Berserk, and back when I first got into it I made this lil guy on Heroforge. They didn't have many options way back when, it's come a long way since, but even still I think it turned out alright. The sword is two Stormcast swords stacked end to end for the needed G I R T H. Anyways here's Golden Age Guts
My default player character going back to 3.5, Mr Normal Man, a human Paladin of Bahamut. I picked Bahamut back then since White and Blue fucks as a combo and I like Dragons. Mr. Man has had several miniatures over the years, this is his most recent iteration as a DMpc to play support. It was my first shot at a lava style fire sword too, which I think looks nifty
An update to my gunpla post, Flauros is progressing nicely but hoo boy are some of these steps tedious. First was doing the final brush details, sealing it, then doing my decals. I have a big ol stack of Warhammer decals, most of these are space marine and imperial guard ones since I lost the real decal sheet
After that comes the chipping. Same thing I do for my battlemechs, just a bigger scale than I've done before
Finally the oil wash, the same mix I use for most things, 3 parts black, 2 parts brown, and 1 part red, thinned down and scrubbed off after with some spirits
My next post tomorrow should be the final assembled shots, just finished the last clear coat to seal everything together
Another skin tone practice, this time limiting myself to layering. I can't recall where I got the model from, but I know I printed it. While I would have liked more bark and grit and nature on a Dryad, the uninterrupted skin was the challenge I needed to try and get the shading down, and we required a tree person
