Regrets

i strongly believe that el is going to break up with mike at the beginning of st5 for one specific reason:

she (pretty much canonically) doesn’t love him anymore.

why do i think this? well, el signs her last letter to mike with “from el” not “love el”. it’s been established that el believes that mike signing his letters with “from” instead of “love” means he doesn’t love her anymore, so her signing her letter with “from” implies that she doesn’t love him anymore.

art that depicts God the Father as an old bearded man is tired and cliche, but I also just think in general depicting the Father as a human being kinda just defeats the whole point. The Father is meant to be the infinite abyss of divinity nobody has ever seen, and Christ the image of God taken on human form. The very fact we can depict the Son as a human being is actually a Big Deal which is diminished if we also conceptualise the Father as also a human being but older.

and even if we theologically know that's just an image, I think a) absorbing those images still influences how we think abt the Father, which in turn kinda diminishes the uniqueness of Jesus being God in human form and contributes to people not really knowing why we believe in the trinity except to confuse people and b) is just artistically boring. give us some crazy abstract eldritch depictions of God the Father to make us appreciate just how nice it was of God the Son to take on a nice friendly face comprehensible to the mortal mind. or at least like make Her a woman or smth idk

HOWEVER. with all that said, I do like those kinds of artworks that depict old man God the Father cradling Jesus on the cross. it's kinda sweet imo (reverse image search unfortunately did not help me find an original source but I'm assuming it's old enough I'm not stealing anyone's art here)
