Unpopular opinion: Changkyun doesn’t need to be so hard on himself, yes, but…

1: he is not responsible for how people interpret something he says about himself. He was discussing HIS LAZINESS and HIS EATING and HIS EXCUSES and HIS INTERNAL MONOLOGUES. He was not speaking to anyone else.

2: we have to understand expectations on idols. They are constantly told to fast, skip meals, or are put on special diets despite the immense strain they put on their bodies. It’s not ok, but that’s the reality and their norm.

3: people have become entirely too sensitive to others opinions, even ones they have about themselves. INCLUDING ME. But recognizing that you have a choice on how you’re going to react to what people do and say is a BLESSING and please start exercising it.

4: I do agree that all idols, not just Changkyun, need to do some mental and emotional work in order to be ok when it comes to their health and relationship with food and fitness. But so do we all.

5: Cancel culture is so damn dramatic these days that we try to cancel everyone just because they blinked the wrong way. People are always going to have things about them you don’t like. Just don’t like them and move on. No reason to make a big scene over something like this. The only person he’s harming is himself… unfortunately. Everyone else just needs to step back, not make it about them, and realize that this view is a major issue among ALL KOREAN IDOLS, and that we need to build them up instead of letting them face it alone.

Stuff like this is how we lost folks like Jonghyun and so many others. Let’s not be the voice of hate just because we feel like a statement applies to us. It’s not healthy for us to do that either.

Author’s Note: A little short drabble about our dearest Ateez member Song Mingi, who is FINALLY coming home. It’s been a long time. But I know that he will be back stronger than ever, serving all the looks and smooth lines and quality Mingi dancing we’ve missed so much. So... welcome home Mingi.

“You’ve worked hard for this moment, Mingi.” The calm voice of his therapist came over him as he held his discharge paperwork. All he had to do was sign it. The words all the simple, basic jargon he had become accustomed to with all of the paperwork involved in his therapy. Yet… the paper seemed so heavy. He was misty eyed as he realized he HAD worked so hard to get to this moment. He had torn himself down mentally a thousand times and reassembled himself just as many times over. He was proud.

“You’re right. I did.” He wiped at his face, his parents standing behind him in the soft, deep seat of the chair he was always in seeming foreign now, like he didn’t need it. Like he could toss it at any second and not miss it at all. His mother’s fingers in his long hair eased him even more, and he sighed happily, eyelashes fluttering. “I’m gonna go back to the guys, and we will eat well, and drink… and just… be.” He couldn’t wait. He had spent some time in this process with them, but nothing like he used to. He missed them terribly.

From Jongho snapping apples in half to Seonghwa chasing him from a room so he could clean, and Hongjoong calling him at the latest and earliest hours to check on him and get him going for the day. They had never once forgotten him. Keeping him in performances. Updating the fans about him. Calling him while doing lives with Atiny. And now… now he could be the one in the live. Setting the paper down on the table, he picked up the pen, and rotated it skillfully between his fingers.

His signature fell neatly on the line and he smiled happily, tears spilling over his cheeks as he looked up at his therapist. “Thank you.” The sun was remarkably warm on his back. The birds seemed to sing only for him. And the realization, as he stepped out of the car, that he was finally going back to the dorm made him feel like he could fly. The same steps. Like muscle memory all the way to the door he had gone in and out of some many times. “Oh?” He heard the sound of Wooyoung’s curious call down the hall, and no sooner than he had toed out of his sneakers and turned, the entirety of Ateez was on him. He cried happily when his brothers, his friends, the men he had shared so many memories with, good and bad, enveloped him in the best coming home hug. He wiped at their faces with gentle hands, and sank into the happiness, nodding. “I am home, guys… I am home.” His gaze met Seonghwa’s over the group, the man trying to hold his own tears back, and reached up to touch his face. “Thank you for not giving up on me… now.. how about we order all of the meat? I’m starving.” They all dragged him to the table for animated chats over soju, beer, and good food, and finally, they were eight once again.

Alright… just thoughts. I know I’m not the only one. But the ONLY reason I hate SM is because they DO NOT PROTECT THEIR ARTISTS. I’m not just talking about like security. I’m talking about encouraging them to be healthy. Countless lives where they talk about fasting… not eating… not sleeping. The schedules and the expectations are inhumane and every photo I see, especially of Mark, lately makes me worry for them. Their jobs are brutally demanding and people just blow over it like it’s nothing. Not to mention sasaengs and people getting their numbers. Camping outside of the dorms. Staff selling private information to anyone with the right amount of money. And the HATE is suffocating. Other companies like Hybe (big hit) have gone out of their way to shut up the idiots talking shit, but there are so many instances where SM idols get threats, like Yuta and Hendery, and SM didn’t even flinch. They’re so big, and NCT is raking in the dough. But they get treated like shit and I am disgusted. They deserve better. From their company AND from the fans. My god, it’s no wonder what has happened to other idols. I’m so worried about them. 😞😞😞

why are yall trying so hard to categorize each fan based on their personal opinion and personal tastes like youre trying to weed out traitors during a time of war? art is meant to be many things -- a comfort, a good time, a discussion, an experience, a heartbreak, an understanding, a friend, an adversity.......not everything fits neatly into a box and not everyone's connection and experience will be the same. you may connect with some art more or less than others. thats fine. thats normal. drink some water and take a nap <3

I wish people would give A.C.E a chance. Every single person I see that gets into them has said they really regret not doing it sooner. They are such talented, sweet boys and it makes me sad that they continue to go unrecognized. They shot to my number 1 ult group within like a month.

Well I feel like I need a place to vent, or at least get things off my chest, so aside from my irregularly posted fictional works, I’m going to start a thing called “as a fat woman, I was made to feel guilty for” and follow it up with a daily experience. You guys can add your own things, but please note: assholes will be blocked. I am aware I am fat, almost to a flaw, and I don’t need snide comments disguised as “help” so. If that’s you, just forget about it. I’ll start today I guess.

Now before you ask, let me give you context.

We had leftover homemade burger patties we had grilled. So, no unknown ingredients. Just regular beef. Grilled with basic seasonings. I then added buns (yes, I know, first mistake) and cheese (gasp!) and tomato and onion and lettuce and mustard. I ate two of them. Just them. No chips. Nothing else.

Now I would’ve understood if it had been pointed out that I was “unfair” because I ate them and didn’t share. But it was pointed out out of anger because “you know you’re fat, why are you eating that.” Pardon me. I didn’t realize because I was fat I couldn’t enjoy two beef patties and some fixings. I wasn’t aware that I couldn’t eat anything other than veggies. But thank you for the correction.

Also, I wanted to do this secondarily as a way to point out some basic things women (and likely men too) who are over weight have to deal with. Things the rest of the “passing” people get to do without someone even batting an eye. Because we don’t get treated the same. And I’m not minimizing much bigger issues like racism or sexism. I’m just sharing my experience. I don’t even know if I’ll do this again. Don’t know if it’ll matter. Maybe if I stop eating, like everyone else still can, I’ll look different and won’t have these issues.
