I would like to kiss the scar on your face.

Milli flushed, clutching the small piece of paper. She’d thought it a scrap from a receipt left on her worktable, but this was far from accidental.

She’d been busy, a number of customers in and out, a few people she hadn’t even been able to see to before they left. She tried to remember the faces, new and old, and the ones she knew seemed unlikely to have left such a thing.

Her hand strayed up to the scar, touching it. Why would anyone want to kiss that hideous thing? Aell did, but he saw all of her, knew her inside and out. Cia had wanted to kiss her scars, but that was so painful to think on…

Milli crumpled the note up in a ball and put it in her pocket, intending to throw it away. Somehow, though, it never quite made it to the waste paper basket. Instead, it was hidden in her notebook, a reminder that somewhere, someone found even her scars lovely.

She felt his heartbeat against her back, his breath against her ear. His arms were firm around her. There was safety in him, security. And a divine sort of rest that she'd not found before, something that lulled her to sleep as nothing but exhaustion ever had.

Aellarian would keep the nightmares at bay. And if they broke through anyway, he would be there to offer comfort. And Milli knew he would. She kissed him one last time and curled up close. His. All his.

GW2 Retirement Giveaway

Hello, Guild Wars 2 fans!

I’ve recently decided that I’m quitting Guild Wars 2, but first I want to give a little back to the community that has entertained me so much over the last year and a half.

I will be picking three winners; the prizes are as follows:
