Hi sorry for bombarding architect of tragedy questions (it is cool and interesting) but what’s Shana’s deal with her parents?

No way thank you so much for your interest!! Shana's mother died of health complications whilst she was really young. Her brother Alyx is about good decade older, he graduated early, and was already diving in to education prospects overseas thus unable to return home at the time. Her father simply fell apart and only pulled himself together enough to care for her. The death bothered Shana less so due to her age and the very honest relationship she had with her mother (as a child who had only ever knew her as sick); consequently, her father gradually become a grief stricken, lonely, worrisome, but very also dedicated.

Shana feels that her father is only as attentive as he is because her brother is largely absent and her mother is dead. She has a mixture of love, resentment, and great sympathy. But also wants to be seen as a functioning adult like her brother, as in some one that he doesn't have to kill himself worrying about as much as he does. She wants to prove herself so much it clouds her judgement at times! This of course is the polar opposite to Damon and Brent's family ties, so if she tried to say "my dad is crazy supportive and loving but I really wish he would step back and chill tf out" to either of them they'd probably look at her like she was insane.
