An Annulment

Instead of feeding abortificants to Chani, Irulan, who's sick of being a third wheel, an unwanted wife and so on, lets her get pregnant and then asks Paul for an annulment, because their marriage was never consummated. How does Paul react, since he knows Chani will die birthing him a child, and where does Irulan think of going, in the known universe? Also, how do the Bene Gesserit, her family, and Paul's council react to this bombshell?

Paul raids corporates that are depleting the environment for financial gain, such as Imperial Universe Corp, where his father headed the agriculture division before he was sent to troubleshoot the petroleum extraction and refining division, which is when he was assassinated. They have twins, Leto and Ghanima, whom they love very much. However, their relationship breaks up when Paul takes over Imperial Universe Corp from its CEO, Shaddam Corrino, whom he blamed for conspiring to kill his father, Leto Atreides, along with his maternal grandfather, Vladimir Harkonnen. As a part of this deal, Paul is even prepared to wed Irulan Corrino, Shaddam's University professor daughter, to get control over the controlling Corrino block of shares in the corporation. And even though Paul fervently assures Chani that his marriage is only a business arrangement, 'in name only', she wants out of their relationship. So how do Chani and Paul negotiate being single parents? How does Irulan deal with being a stepmother? How do Leto and Ghanima deal with the three adults in their lives? Does Chani find someone else? Does Paul and Irulan's marriage progress from a business deal to something more meaningful? And does Paul understand why Chani gave up on them?
