I went through my high school years keeping my crush on Zach a secret from most everyone. I loved his character and he was such a comfort to me, but I felt a sort of shame around it, like others would judge me harshly for still liking a kids show as a teenager.

High school was definitely an emotional struggle in finding myself, but now I see my love for Zach in a whole new light. Cartoon crushes and comfort characters are so much more accepted today than I ever thought they would be, so I’m very grateful that all these years after I first fell for Zach I was able to come back into the fandom and feel a sense of pride about my cartoon crush. I no longer feel shame about liking a kids show because, guess what? I’m allowed to like whatever I wanna like and I’m allowed to feel comfortable and happy because of certain characters!

Nowadays, my family and my best friend know about my cartoon crush and they’re cool with it. Everyone needs to find comfort in something, and I just happened to find it in the world of fiction. And I don’t regret a thing. So thank you to my awkward teenage self for introducing me to my first and favourite comfort character and cartoon crush. And don’t worry, it definitely gets better. ❤️

As my blog states in my description my OC Violet is a form of a self ship. I think of it best as she’s a mirror version of myself, an alternate identity if you will. I state this clearly in my description so that if someone is uncomfortable by it they do not have to interact with me or my work.

While you may think this is sad, it is comforting for me. Zach’s a comfort character, and exploring his and Violet’s relationship, because yes, she is still separate from me, helps me to feel safe, happy, giddy, etc.

I have been obsessed with fictional characters and villains my whole life, Zach just happened to come into my life at a later time due to my job. After you watch a show so much it will grow on you, and Zach, well, I’m clinging to him like moss to a tree.

Based on your writing, I think one of your hobbies may be making things like crafts and jewelry. When you described Alessandra making the ZV earrings I was thinking huh, this sounds very detailed. I'm very into arts and crafts, have been since I was young! I enjoy drawing and painting, and I have begun to crochet again recently! As for jewelry making, I’ve mostly made string and bead necklaces when I was a kid. However, I have been acquiring craft supplies to make my own ZV earrings, so hopefully I can make those real soon!

I was going through some of my old drawings today and I came across this one I drew of Donita back when I first got into Wild Kratts. Something about seeing it just brought me back to that time in my life, sitting at the dinning room table or my desk at night once my homework was finished and just drawing things from shows I was inspired by. Just made me think of simpler times…

Looking at this one and some others I found today really made me wanna stay on track with my drawing skills. I think this is one of the best things I’ve drawn from the show and I really want to make time to create more from things that inspire me.
