The way most autism literature describes "literal interpretation" is often not at all similar to how I experience it. Teenage me even thought I couldn't be autistic because I've always been able to learn metaphors easily.

In fact, I love wordplay of all kinds. Teenage me was fascinated to learn all the types of figurative language there are in poetry and literature.

But paperwork and questionnaires are hard, because there's so much they don't state clearly. Or they don't leave room for enough nuance.

"List all the jobs you've had, with start and end dates." What if I don't remember the exact day or month? Is the year enough?

"Have you been suffering from blurred vision?" Well, if I take off my glasses the whole world is blurred, but I'm fairly sure that's not what the intake form at the optometrist is asking.

Or the infamous (and infuriatingly stereotypical) "Would you rather go to a library or a party?" What sort of party? Where? Who's there? I work at a library. Am I currently at the library for work or pleasure? Does it have a good collection?

It's not common figures of speech that confound me. It's ambiguity, in situations that aren't supposed to be ambiguous.

i really want people to stop writing scientists as awkward, stilted conversationalists who don't understand idioms or emotions and start writing them as depressed alcoholics who swear like sailors unless they're in a specifically academic situation

Orsino’s death is bullshit and Varric just made it up to protect him from the Chantry, pass it on

in a perfect and beautiful world we would simply have a bunch of blatantly contradictory tie in material instead of a bioware canon. make alistair a warden sometimes with no explanation. the authors should be set loose on the wiki with no guidelines. they should be allowed to offhandedly refer to a sequence of events that is technically impossible to replicate in-game and we should all clap

Anon youre SO right and your brain is huge. Bioware can keep putting out comic series but only if the player-relevant details change with every installment. Hawke's pronouns are in constant flux. They can put out a story about king alistair but the next one has to be set in a world where he was executed. Sometimes there's an offhanded reference to king loghain with absolutely no follow up. Etc

Thinking about the Dairsmuid Circle again today. Thinking about how the Seekers killed all the mages of the Dairsmuid Circle because they didn't follow the Chantry's dogma again today.

Thinking About The Dairsmuid Circle Again Today. Thinking About How The Seekers Killed All The Mages

"If the mages aren't put in Circles they will inevitably cause chaos-" THE MAGES OF DAIRSMUID WERE FINE DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY. Until the Chantry saw it as a problem and killed them all for it.

oxidized copper is such a beautiful color palette. The rich reds with the cool teals. Such a vibrant combo. No one is doing it like her.

Honestly the Potential Rook Concept that is making me laugh the most out of all of my own ideas so far is... Literally THE Warden. (After all, Varric never met them so. How would HE know???)
