Shark Tooth Necklace.

|——————————— ⸆⸉ ———————————|

It was a day at the beach, where the seagulls were flying high and making sounds that mixed in with the waves that were crashing over sand.

Taylor was sitting at the spot that you decided on together, the towel underneath, keeping her safe from getting sand in her clothes as she stays laid down, enjoying the wind and the warm sun.

You had found a shop selling shark tooth necklaces earlier when you were searching for a spot, and when Taylor saw the absolute happiness in your face, you went in together to buy it.

So here you were, dipping your feet in the water. Taylor wanted to swim later, but the cool ocean water was far too tempting for you to hold yourself back from at least feeling the waves against your skin.

She was making a small sandcastle just beside the towel she sat on, using the bucket and a shovel kids use, because, why not?

The blonde glances over at you when you eventually went away from the water and came to her side, but it wasn't long before she focused back on her sandcastle, wanting to create a kingdom of her own.

You laugh and smile, your heart lightening at the sight of her so transfixed on her little sandcastle, her brows furrowed and her legs criss-crossed.

The bag of chips crinkled when you picked it up from the plastic bag you and Taylor brought along, inside holding many other snacks to eat.

Your fingers slip a little as you try to open the plastic with your fingers considering your skin wasn't dry, so you contemplated on asking for Taylor's help, but her hands were covered in sand in the meanwhile.

As you thought about it, you nibbled on your lip, your hands struggling, but then an idea comes into your mind, and you look down to the shark tooth necklace you were wearing.

Smiling, you reached to grab the tooth resting on your chest and point it to the chip bag, then put pressure with the sharp part, succeeding in poking in a single hole. Your eyes brightened and your smile grew wider at the revelation, so you look up to your girlfriend before continuing.

"Tay! Tay! Look," you call her name to get her attention, and she pauses her sand castle making to turn to you with a curious hum, wondering whats gotten you so excited.

She tilts her head when you hold your shark tooth necklace up, but when you poke another hole in the packet of chips and let it slide across so it could cut it open, Taylor's mouth falls open with a gasp. She lets out a laugh, in awe and surprised at your finding.

"Oh, my gosh, baby..." She giggles, shaking her head, but you were looking at her so proudly of yourself, she couldn't even be embarrased at the sight.

"You are unbelievable," Taylor murmurs, brushing off the sand from her fingers to the corner of the towel you both sat on while you smiled and ate your snack happily.

"Want some?" you offer, putting the crinkly bag out to her, and she turns her head to look at you once more, accepting with a light nod.

"Mhm." She reaches out, grabbing two chips and putting one in her mouth, crunching it with her teeth.

"At least it has another use rather than just making you look really cool, huh?" She says, still smiling as her free hand goes to your shark tooth, feeling the texture and ridges, the sharpness brushing against her fingertips.

You laugh, and nod. "You're getting sand all over my necklace, baby," you say, watching her let go and return her hand back to her side, giggling softly.

"Sorry...just wash it in the water, sweetheart. The ocean is right there." she replied, tilting her head towards the huge water source of the ocean sitting right across from the two of you, then Taylor turns back to her original position.

You shook your head with a smile, seeing her resume the building on her sandcastle. But you didn't want to stay simply in one place for another while longer, with the crashing of the waves and the wind inviting you to have fun, your eyes flicker from the water and Taylor's adorable sight of her building.

"Can we go search the sand for some shells?" You ask, moving closer to her, sitting just behind her back.

"Mmmm, but I'm not finished with my sandcastle..." she murmurs, her movements careful as she touches up on a part she just put down out from the sandcastle bucket.

You bit your lip, leaning to your side to see the castle, and one of your fingers go out, teasing to just slightly poke a small hole, but she sees it in the corner of her eyes and stops you.

"Don't touch," she said, scolding you and gently pushing your hand back, and you giggle at her protectiveness simply for something so small.

"But Tay...you've been working on that for the past half an hour." You mumble, wrapping your hands around her waist and nuzzling into her shoulder. She froze, her heart turning warm at the gesture, and she turns her head, her eyes seeing the person she loves so much. She thought about it for a moment before a smile slowly raises on her lips.

"Okay, but only if you help me finish later," she says softly. Your face brightens, but it turns into shock when she reached out to place a boop on your nose.

"Hey!" you whine, and she lets out a giggle, protecting her own nose with the back of her hand in case you fought back. You even felt some sand on your nose, and you wipe it away.

You went to target her nose too, but she leans back, avoiding your attack. "Nope!" She said, still laughing. As you kept trying and failing even while you tried to gently pry her hand off from her nose with your combined laughter, she kept dodging you, you soon give up, and pout. "Tay," you say, your voice holding a complaining tone.

She smiled ear to ear, finding your frustrated expression adorable before she lets down her defenses and leans in to kiss your cheek, which only made you pout deeper, although with a blush.

"Okay, here, boop my nose," she gives off the space of her face to you, putting her hands on your shoulders. Your pout falters, and you reach out again to touch her nose, but yet, she pulled back.

"Tease!!" you say, a tinge disappointed, giving her shoulder a slight push, and she laughs once more, the sound overfilled with joy. You couldn't help the smile you had that topped your pout, and you manage to boop her nose while she was distracted.

"I got you!" you cheered, pointing at her, and her laughter fades down, gazing at you lovingly.

Still, she teased you playfully, giving your arm a slight nudge with her elbow as she stood up. "I let you get that one," she says with a smirk.

"Oh, whatever, I still got you," you added with a smile, following her movements and standing on your feet once more too, feeling it touch the sand as you walked.

You take a glance at her sandcastle before turning back to follow her. "We should find a flag for your castle too," you suggest, looking down on the sand and seeing all the small shells upon the ground, but they were nearly all the same, white and sometimes cracked.

"Using what? The part of the chip bag you cut off with your shark tooth?" she joked with a small laugh, searching for seashells of her own, leaning down and grabbing some as she walked along the shore.

"That is a good idea," you murmur thoughtfully and mindlessly, your head moving in a nod, and she turns around to look at you.

"Baby! No," she quickly countered, hoping to everything you weren't walking back to where her sandcastle was to put down the piece as her back faces you once more.

You giggle, picking up a few small shells then going faster on your legs to catch up to her and walk beside her. "What? Those chips are good. They deserve to be on a podium."

"Mm, mm." She shakes her head with a smile, glancing at you for a moment, seeing how the sun shined down on your face and hair, the wind blowing it back.

"Your castle will be called...potato palace," you add, gesturing with one finger and she gasps, almost offended at the suggestion.

"Not on my masterpiece!" She says, gently and playfully pushing you by your shoulder, and you giggle.

"Okay, okay, fine...but hey, this is the bonus of us looking in the sand y'know?" you say, your lips raised up in a smile as you get closer to the water, the rocks and shells moving in and out the gentle waves.

"Maybe we cant find a flag, but we can find a shell to put on there..." You murmur, but Taylor had fallen behind, kneeled down on the sand to grab something half buried.

She grabs it between her finger and thumb, but it was so small, you had to go closer to see it. She places it on her palm and put her hand out, watching as you stepped forward with a curious face.

When you processed what the sight in front of you held, you gasped, "You found a snail shell!" you say, pointing to it. Taylor smiled widely, happy at your surprise.

It was green spotted with dark spots that were brown, and spiraled up. "Its pretty," you whisper out, inspecting it when she gives it to you to hold.

She looks down, seeing the sand beneath your feet move as you shift your stance. "It is, there's another one here." She leaned down and picked it up before you could accidentally step on it, seeing that it was about the same shell, only, it was a black one.

You looked at it for a moment, smiling at her foundings and how she participated easily in your searching. You continue on, your eyes traveling the ground as Taylor's did too.

"Whoa. Look!!!" You had spotted something huge in the sand, right there in the glistening sun, and you ran over to it, kneeling down to carefully extract it out.

Taylor watches when you ran off to something, her eyebrows raising and her eyes sparkling with curiosity and love of your personality.

"Tay!" you call out, holding up the seashell you found in your hand. It was a slightly pointy, swirled up seashell that was tall. Her eyes widen and her mouth was agape.

"That...is a giant shell, baby." Taylor giggled, in shock at the unscathed shell. It was a cerith, the size of your hand, and it fades from black, brownish spots up to a pure white color,

"Is this good enough for your 'masterpiece' of a kingdom?" You ask playfully, handing it out to her, and she smiles widely, taking it carefully and gently to take a good look at it.

"Its perfect. Thank you," she says, tracing its edges, but it was covered in bits of sand, especially when she tilted it and sand comes pouring out the hole it had for the originating snail that was no longer holding the empty shell. You bit your lip, giggling softly, and feeling relieved it didn't have residence.

Taylor then goes over to the water, ankle deep in, simply to wait for the waves to come as she firmly holds the cerith in her hand, making sure it doesn't slip as the water washes away the sand easily.

Once she made sure it was clean, she went back to you, seeing that you found a few more smaller shells, although you were showing her another one specifically. "I got a pinkish looking shell too. It fits one of your album colors..." it seemed to have been a part of something bigger, probably having been broken off from its counterparts. But the history of the sands and waves had smoothed its ridges out.

She smiles softly, looking at it with gentle eyes as you moved and turned it in your hand, looking at it in every angle.

"You're right...I'm officially stealing this from your seashell collection," she murmurs, then turns to look at you, and you raised your eyebrows, an amused smile playing on your lips.

"You don't even have to steal it, love, all you have to do is just ask," you say, giggling softly and pushing it gently into her hand, trading it with the big cerith you found earlier.

"Really?" She asks with almost genuine surprise, even though you wouldn't mind to give her even the entire galaxy off into her hands. You look at her with a slight tilt of your head as you walked back to your spot together.

"Of course," you say with honest truth, reaching out to gently slip your free hand into hers and lightly swinging it back and forth.

"Just don't steal this one." You gesture to the shell you were currently holding, it being a new precious treasure to keep in your collection.

"Can I borrow that one for my sandcastle at least?" she asks softly, nodding towards it. It was all too beautiful and untouched seeming to not be placed atop her kingdom.

You pursed your lips, and a smile grows on Taylor's face. She leans in, nudging into your shoulder, then leaving a kiss onto your cheek. "I'll give you all the cuddles and kisses you want back home," she offers, raising her eyebrows.

You take a glance at her, your eyes searching hers that matched the color of the ocean. "Promise?" you whispered.

A soft, melodious giggle sounds from her that made your heart swell. "I promise, baby." She pecks your lips softly to add onto her genuine sentence.

Your face rises in heat with a pinkish hint, and it wasn't from the sun. "...Fine, fine," you whispered out, smiling as you both arrive back to her sandcastle.

You crouch down, then move to sit on the towel, helping her finish up her precious castle, making sure your hand doesn't accidentally hit any of her previous work. Taylor joins you on the ground, now doing the small touch ups with a sweet smile on her lips. You even helped with the details here and there by carving them out with your shark tooth necklace, and when she noticed, she giggled and shook her head.

"All finished!" you call out, raising your hands once you had slowly and carefully picked up the bucket of sand to reveal a structured part.

Her smile grows wider, her eyes full of love as she looks to you. "Not yet," she says, her hand going to your side to gently grab the seashell you had earlier so she could put it right at the center of her sandcastle.

You look proudly down at the built piece, now something you had done together. "This is beautiful, baby." you compliment her, leaning in to hug her side, giving her a kiss on her cheek.

She blushes, admiring her work, then looking to you, her gaze adoring your own features. "You're so sweet, you know that?" she whispers.

"Because I love you." You lean in closer, looking into her eyes gently. She only felt even more love overflow from her heart, and she moves to kiss you properly on your lips rather than anywhere else.

"I love you too, baby," she breathed out warmly against your skin, her hand cupping your cheek.

i want Taylor to do a whole bunch of surprise songs on the last show but they're all just puns for the end of something.

they said the end is coming. is it over now? is this the end of all the endings. dancing round your room (stadium) when the night ends. it's the kind of ending you don't really wanna see. the story of us might be ending soon. all's well that ends well to end up with you (already on the setlist but still). hush, I know they said the end is near. how did it end? ended with the slam of a *stage* door but she's got the best stories. but when the lights go down it's the ending of the show

It's not The Cruelest Man Who Ever Lived, it's the Smallest. Your cowardice, toxicity, neediness, and lack of self awareness is so dire that the level of damage you cause feels like it should be intentional, like an assassination attempt. But it's not. It's just you, intuiting what people need the most in any given moment, rushing headfirst into those needs, and buying your own con until you're in so deep you have to bail because you want to be all of those things without doing any of the growth required. And if you leave people devastated in your wake you can't look back at them because what you've done reflects exactly who you are and you've spent a lifetime of slipping out the back door to avoid confronting yourself at all costs but you're sure a strong enough bong hit will let you forget about the woman sobbing alone in her house surrounded by all the shiny promises you had no business making long enough to go demolish someone new.

Smallest.

"in broken hearts, there are always new beginnings awaiting."

Tied Together With A Smile.

|——————————— ⸆⸉ ———————————|

It was early in the day. The birds were chirping in the blue skies and the clouds were dissipating in the cause of the afternoon.

Having already gotten up and showered, you were in the kitchen, sitting at the dining table, enjoying your breakfast. It was a peaceful day, and seemingly the starting of a good one.

But it all went down when your eyes captured the sight of the notification at the top of your phone screen.

You were nearly about to be excited. Nearly. It was a name you loved, and you hadn't gotten a text from them in days. But the words written down wasn't a returning, much of the opposite. It was a goodbye that made your heart skip a beat.

'We're breaking up,' was all the message said. It was like time froze. You froze. And not in a good way. Not like when you fell in love for the first time. You didn't even know you could feel anything similar to it again, but it was the sinking feeling of something you spent all your time on, trying to see if it'll work, only for it to fall apart all over again. You can feel your heart rate pick up in its pace, the messaging app opening when you tapped on the notification.

You try to question, to write down your apologies for whatever you had done wrong, wondering what you could do turn it back to just you and your beloved, with the shaky hands you had, letters were being slipped in the midst of your foggy vision.

But there was no reply to any of the messages you had sent.

You exit the messaging screen of someone who was now your ex, your eyes staring at the contact name as you sniffled, the tears freely escaping. You suspected as much of the circumstances, considering your reeling mind already going through everything that could ever happen. But it didn't mean it didn't hurt.

You turned off your phone and put it face down against the table, your cheek getting the treatment of your hand resting firmly against it as you stare down at your empty plate. It had leftover bread crumbs.

You sighed. Your mug still held half of your drink. But you didn't even have the appetite to finish it anymore. Your stomach felt as though it was a swirling black hole that might collapse in on itself.

The chair lightly scraped and screeched against the wooden floor below you, making you grimace in response, but you pick up the plate and mug anyway, unable to think straight, feeling like a void had come over you.

Who were you supposed to go to now? Nothing seemed right to you. You wanted to curl up in bed and forget about it all, but you also wanted a pair of arms to embrace you. To keep you warm, to keep you from feeling lonely as your heart was shaking against your ribcage.

Then you pause once you put the dishes in the sink. There was someone. Your hand tightens around the handle of your mug, clenching it in a tight grip, then you quickly pour the drink out to the sink and wash the mug out with water, making sure the sink's all cleared of leftovers or liquids, in case the ants would feast upon it.

You sighed. Taylor. Of course. Your bestfriend, the person who's always been there beside you with every step you took. Not another second was wasted as you grabbed your car keys and got out your house, aiming to drive straight to her house.

It was a wonder Taylor's house was so close. You were sure you wouldn't have been able to focus on the road properly with your misty vision, but then again, you had driven with your mind on auto pilot the entire way.

It flew over your head to even call or message her, but you already parked in the driveway.

Oh, god, was she even home? You unbuckled your seatbelt, looking around. But her car was there beside yours in the driveway, which gave relief to your running heart.

You took a deep breath, trying to calm yourself down as much as you could, but you wouldn't be able to do so within such little time.

After a few minutes, you wipe away your tears that had escaped, and turned off the engine, getting out your car to step up to her front door.

You took another breath in and rang the doorbell with a shaky hand, hearing it echo through the house as you shifted on your feet. You sniffled, feeling the passage of your throat being swollen from holding back any sobs, or crying even.

There were soon footsteps coming closer to the door, a meow going alone with it, until it eventually opens with a familiar face behind it. "Hey--" Taylor's voice comes through, her eyes just barely seeing behind the door to find you.

She can instantly tell you looked absolutely miserable, standing there at her door. Your red tinted nose, and bleak eyes that were sheening a gleam of sadness more than it could be assumed as the light's reflection instead.

"...What's wrong?" She asked softly, and you had your teeth capturing your lower lip. You saw the way her smile faltered, and how her shoulders went down. But she noticed the anxiety stirring within you, your fingers brushing over your palm. You almost regretted going to find company, almost not wanting to share the death swallowing your heart whole, because, it felt like it was only going to get worse from here.

"I just wanted to be with you," you whispered, trying to give her the smallest and weakest smile, but your voice betrayed you and cracked.

Her heart swelled at how she was your first thought to come all the way to her house after whatever had happened to you, but the way you looked had her worrying over it all.

"Come on...tell me. It doesn't look like you only wanted to visit me." she murmurs, concern filling her up as she pulls you into her home fully, closing the door behind you gently.

When she comes to wrap her arms around you, you started to slowly break, and had to stifle a sob, your arms quickly coming into response to do the same, although your fingers curl into the fabric of her shirt. "...I got broken up with," your small voice comes out.

"Oh...Y/N," she whispers under her breath, putting her chin gently atop your head. Her thumb comfortingly moves at your back, while you just barely felt the brush of a cat's body below you, just against your legs. Then, your mind jumped to conclusions, worrying over being a bother.

"Um...I-- I didn't really know where else to go so I..." You whispered out, your voice strained as a breath of yours got caught on a small sob.

"I went to you..." She can feel your arms tightening around her, your face burying in her chest, and the emotions radiating off you and your words was concerning.

"Its okay, I don't mind," she whispers back softly, her hand fully and slowly running up and down your back than just her thumb. Her heart was aching, to see your trembling body and to hear your quiet crying. She stayed quiet for a small moment, letting you spill your emotions out first.

"What happened?" She asks, wondering how one relationship that she thought you were better off in, ended up only to be with a broken heart.

"I don't know. It was just one text and we're over..." You murmured shakily, sniffling lightly as your voice was slightly muffled from being in her chest. Just like that. Over the phone. Not even on a call. Her lips part in surprise with a small intake of breath, unable to believe how someone could do such a thing to you.

"That's terrible, sweetheart. I'm so sorry," she whispers under her breath, leaning back to cup one of your cheeks with her hand, her thumb gently wiping away your tears. The nickname had slipped through her lips accidentally, but you didn't notice in your emotional catastrophe, although it added a hint more comfort.

"I really thought I found the one..." your voice held pain that transferred to her heart, and she closed her eyes, leaning closer and taking a gentle breath to gather her words.

"I know...I know, shh...it doesn't mean you won't get more chances," she whispers, her hand resting back around your shoulders as she swayed you both slightly as you both still stood at the front of the door.

She then leans back, looking down at you for a moment before giving you a small assuring smile. Her eyes catch a concerned looking Benjamin down at your feet, and her expressions soften further. Then, in decision, she gently slips her hand in yours, pulling you to her bedroom.

"Come here, all the cats are in the bedroom, so you can be more warm and cozy..." she murmurs, taking care in pulling you. Her bedroom had the curtains open, the daylight flooding through and making the room bright. On her bed, her cats are curled up with each other, and Benjamin followed along by jumping onto the bed, adding to the warmthness.

Taylor gently guided you to the bed, sitting on it. Your heavy crying subsided to small hitches of your breath and a trembling lip, the edges of your eyes sheening with wetness of your tears.

You sat beside her, wrapping your arms around her and resting your head against her shoulder. She puts her arm around your shoulders once more, giving you a gentle squeeze to let you know she was there for you.

"I should've known. I haven't gotten any text messages in so long and then...just like that. I mean, what did I do wrong, Tay?" you mumble, turning to bury your face in her shoulder, possibly dampening her shirt sleeve just a little.

She takes a deep breath and slowly releases it, her mind sifting through her thoughts. "Hey," her voice comes out gently, and she leans into you, gazing down at your helpless form.

"Don't say that," she whispers, giving you a shake of her head when you peeked out her shoulder. She almost thought it looked cute, just for a second in this sad moment. Her hand then brushes against your cheek once more, a warming touch against your skin.

"I think you did nothing else but try to give all your love," she says seriously, making sure you kept eye contact with her. Even your hands shook as you tried to keep yourself in control rather than go into another breakdown.

"You didn't get a message back. There was barely any communication for understanding, and that says something about it, Y/N..." she reasons, her hand gliding down to rest at your neck.

Your eyes strained with sadness, and you sniffled, feeling the lump in your throat that you needed to swallow down. "Th-Then...what if no one can actually love me?"

Taylor's eyes widen with small surprise for a moment at your presumption, a reaction you hadn't noticed as you rested your head against her chest, taking comfort in her embrace.

"I mean what if..." your voice was trembling; the sign of your willingness to try and keep talking even while you were fighting back from crying entirely once more. Taylor lets out a breath, her arms tightening around you as her hands tried to keep a soothing motion.

"I just want someone to love me..." you whisper, trailing off as your fingers tighten on Taylor's shirt, taking a deep breath in. But she took her own breath in too, her hammering heart preparing what to say.

"I love you..." She says quietly, looking down as you bit your lip. She waited, but you shook your head gently.

"Yeah, but thats..." you murmur, misunderstanding her meaning as you sighed. She places her hand under your chin, gently tilting your head up to have you look at her.

"Y/N." She says your name, her voice being firm so she could grab your attention and have your full focus. You pause any of your thoughts and words, almost holding your breath as you met her eyes, although you weren't sure if its because she caught your attention or because you had suddenly realized how beautiful her eyes were.

"I love you." She repeats, a little louder than last time, her expression awaiting. You take a moment to process it, almost confused, but then the pieces click together in your mind, and you realize what she meant.

"...What?" You breathe out, letting go of the breath you held, your heartrate increasing as you try to think through it.

She smiles softly at your confusion and surprise. "Not as a friend." she whispers, shaking her head to add to her expression so you'll know she was serious.

Taylor bit her lip, her eyes traveling the bedsheets for a moment before returning back to your eyes. "I...I've been wanting to tell you for so long, and I was really close to, but then you found someone and you seemed so happy, I didn't...I didn't want to ruin it."

You take a deep breath in, quickly already exhaling it, your own eyes lingering on the bedsheets. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner." she adds.

"I..." you tried speaking, but words failed you, and even just one letter had your voice trembling as you start, and you simply gaze up at her in hopes that she can just read your mind.

Instead, she took matters into her hands and rubbed her hand up and down your arms. "Deep breaths," she whispers, nodding along when you followed through, and she helped you by guidance too.

"Thats it. Its okay," she murmurs, resting her forehead against yours, still keeping the motion of her hands. You calmed down, no longer having shuddering breaths or hitching from your earlier crying and sobs.

You took one last deep breath, before the exhale turns out into a sigh as you gather your words. "...I'm glad you said it," you breathed out genuinely, gazing up at her and biting your lower lip.

She blinks at you, her eyes searching yours for any type of meanig to deceive. "Really?" she says under her breath, looking at you with just as much vulnerability you were holding.

You nod slowly. "Because, maybe...I do like you too..." you say, almost hesitantly, not lingering on her eyes anymore in fear of anything that could be in them.

She had a little worry and doubt growing in her heart, even though she has your utmost trust, she didn't want you to act on impulse and jump in, being in a vulnerable state after a breakup...she would hate to accidentally be a rebound without meaning to. "You're sure?" She searches for your confirmation again.

A small smile finally starts to raise up on your lips, making her heart skip a beat. She's always loved your smile, but had never admitted it. It was her favorite thing in the world, even if it was a small one.

"I wasn't sure how to deal with it. I didn't want our friendship to end in some way..." you murmur. It suddenly makes sense to her, that maybe you had avoided confessing to her by trying to see if maybe, someone else could capture your heart. But it didn't work, and now your heart was instead shattered into a million pieces.

But, here she was, picking all of them up, one by one, carefully and gently. She was putting your heart back together, and giving you hers, all at the same time.

"I don't want you to...jump in, I know its quick, I..." She trails off when she suddenly feels your lips on hers, meeting softly without rush, but she didn't realize you leaning in until she felt it. It was the softest contact she felt against her lips, and she melted into it, making your heart swell.

"I want to," you whisper, making her know for sure that you knew your feelings fully without doubt or false facts. But you slowly part from the kiss and lean back, breathing out and brushing your hand over her shoulder.

"But I'm scared..." you admitted, deeply gazing at her blue eyes, maybe even getting lost in the clear sea within them. Your thoughts only filled with the stormy skies and uphill battles you've ever gone through.

But she squeezes your sleeve gently, putting you back into reality. "Its okay." she whispers, sliding her hands down to yours to intertwine with your fingers. The person who's been closest to you, your entire life, there wasn't much she didn't know about you.

"We don't have to...rush into it," she says, her thumbs rubbing over your skin. You can feel the warmth radiating from her, and you let out a breath of relief.

"We can take it slow," she assured, giving your hands a squeeze too, keeping her gaze gentle.

"Okay?" she looks into your eyes for confirmation, needing to know you were both on the same agreement and level. Your quietness added to her own worry, but the relief flooding in your heart was needing its little time.

You smile widely, nodding with happiness. "Okay," you answer with sincerity, a spark of hope igniting in your chest. She breathes out a breath she was holding, starting to smile back at you.

"Now, let's cuddle and not think about anything else but cuddling," she mumbles, pulling closer to her, leaning back to get more comfortable, and you gratefully nuzzle your face back into her.

She smiles at the feeling of you snuggling into her, and she gazes down at you adoringly before going down to kiss the top of your head, and nuzzling back into your hair, a gesture that warms your heart tremendously.

The entire world wasn't collapsing after all.

Involuntary Skydiving (Wanda Maximoff/ Reader)

Involuntary Skydiving (Wanda Maximoff/ Reader)

Hello everyone!

I don't have much to say other than you can breathe a sigh of relief because there is no angst in this fic. :) I would like to dedicate this one-shot to my bestie @mionemymind who came up with this idea once during one of our conversations and requested it. I hope it's everything you hoped for bestie! And to everyone else, I sincerely hope you all enjoy!

Summary: The team doesn't know much about your abilities. Well, everyone except your girlfriend, Wanda.

The team was exhausted, the quinjet was in tatters, but everyone was safe and without a single scratch on them. As a matter of fact, everyone seemed to be in good spirts as they as chatted casually on the flight back to the compound. Even Steve, who was fairly reserved for the most part after missions was laughing at a joke Sam made.

Burst of laughter steadily came and went on flight back as everyone decompressed and unwound from the usual stress that came with being an Avenger.

“Alright, Team. We’re about 30 minutes out. Stay away from the back, don’t want any of you falling out without your chutes.” Steve called from the pilot seat before turning back to his conversation with Sam and Natasha, who was leaning against the back of Steve’s chair. Tony and Bruce were in their own conversation. Meanwhile you and Wanda were quietly huddled together towards the back of the jet. As inseparable as ever.

The atmosphere was light and easy for the majority of the trip back to the compound, the volume steady until the pitch shifted ever so slightly. A shift so minuscule that it would have gone undetected by even the most trained ears.

The only one who seemed to notice the slight shift in atmosphere was Natasha as she looked over her shoulder to see Wanda stand, her expression clearly displeased as you followed her up with a small smile on your lips. She was annoyed and you were teasing her. That was clear to see. It didn’t take years of practice as a trained assassin to figure that out.

You both wore your emotions clearly. Too clearly in Natasha’s opinion. She could read you both like a book.

Wanda feigning annoyance while you watched her in amusement wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. In fact, it was a fairly regular occurrence. Natasha had to admit though, it was intriguing to see your dynamics play out before her since you both tended to keep to yourselves most of the time. As the two newest members you were both still enigmas to everyone else.

You especially since you were linked to Wanda’s past but removed from the events in Sokovia. Fury brought you onto the team after the event.

This meant that most interactions the team did get to see from usually fascinated them.

Maybe a big factor of the fascination was founded in the shroud of mystery you were so comfortable in. Each interaction presented itself like pieces of a puzzle that none of them were ever capable of piecing together.

You were such a mystery that the team wasn’t even entirely aware of your abilities. Fury just told them that the information was on a need-to-know basis, and they didn’t need to know. And you certainly weren’t sharing considering how timid you had been since joining the most intimidating team in the world. Most of the time you were either training alone or attached to Wanda's side. There was never a right moment for them to ask.

After a few minutes of silence from Natasha, Steve and Sam’s interest was also drawn as they all quietly watched you seemingly attempted to appease Wanda from something. There was a half-smile on your lips as you placed your hands on her hips and pulled her closer. Steve put the jet on autopilot as they all watched Wanda gesture dramatically towards the front of the quinjet with her hands, her words low but seemingly serious. You stared at her in silence for a moment before emitting an extremely boisterous laugh. Wanda’s face pinched in annoyance, but your laughter didn’t falter in the slightest. Everyone watched with rapt attention, yet both you and Wanda remained oblivious to your audience.

The same audience that watched in horror as red whisps wrapped around Wanda’s fingers before floating over to you and forcing you out of the gaping hole in the back of the quinjet. As soon as you were stuck in a free fall, Wanda took a seat with a look of smug satisfaction.

Steve scrambled to his feet, rushing to the back of the jet as if he didn’t believe his eyes. Much to his horror, when he looked out, he saw you falling steadily further and further down. “Wh-Wanda!” He sputtered in a fear-stricken shout. “Sam!”

Sam nodded through thinly veiled panic, “Already on it!” He leapt out the back of the quinjet as Natasha was hastily putting on one of the parachutes.

Steve marched over to Wanda hoping for a reasonable explanation to what he had just seen. “Wanda! Why?” He shouted. “Can she fly?” That would have been the only logical explanation.

Wanda picked absently at a piece of lint on her jacket. “Nope.” She replied, popping her lips on the p.

After seeing what happened, Tony pressed a button on his watch, the infamous Iron-Man suit making an appearance as he looked wearily out the back to see if Sam had caught you before impact. “What the hell, Maximoff? Why would you do that?” He hissed.

Again, Wanda indifferently picked at her clothes. “She annoyed me.”

“So, your first thought was to throw her out of a plane without a parachute?” Natasha shouted as she finished strapping the parachute to her body, ready to go help Sam in whatever way she could.

Natasha was completely baffled; she never would have pegged Wanda to be so heartless. None of them would have.

“Kid, if I pushed every person that annoyed me out of a plane, I’d be in prison. PRISON.” Tony bit out angrily.

Steve continued the thought. “I thought Y/n was your girlfriend, why would you want to hurt her?” He demanded. “Maybe even worse if Sam couldn’t get to her in time!”

Before Wanda could utter a word, Sam flew back into sight, carrying you back into the jet. Everyone watched in confusion as you leapt out of his arms, laughing all the while.

“All that because you were jealous?” You asked, pushing a hand through your hair as you made your way back over to her.

“I wasn’t jealous.” Wanda replied immediately, her arms crossing in annoyance.

Amusement filled your eyes as you got closer to her. "That was uncalled for." You added, simply.

"That was uncalled for." Wanda mocked under her breath.

As a retort was forming on your lips, you noticed the tense atmosphere in the quinjet which caused your laughter to taper off as you looked around nervously. The attention of the entire team on you made you shrink back slightly. Wanda’s arms uncrossed as she watched you with concern. She knew you weren’t fond of attention, and she felt faintly guilty that she created a situation where the attention was all on you.

Your eyes brushed over to Natasha who was staring back at you with eyes that were wide with concern, over to Tony whose jaw was clenched so tightly you thought his teeth might chip under the force and finally over to Steve whose brows were furrowed in a serious expression.

“W-why is everyone staring at me?” You stuttered nervously. Your expression filled with confusion.

Sam was the one who finally broke the silence, disbelief painted clearly on his features. “Are you serious right now?” He demanded.

“Y/n. Wanda just pushed you out of the quinjet at an elevation of 38,000 feet in the air without a parachute.” Steve said seriously, his tone sharp.

You squinted your eyes slightly. “And?” you questioned, Wanda huffed a quiet laugh, but immediately covered her mouth when she realized it wasn’t the time or place. The sound of her laughter, no matter how short made the tension melt away from your body as you collected yourself and stood up a bit straighter. A small smile now on your lips.

The team all shared confused glances. “How are you being so casual about this?” Natasha questioned as she unhooked one of the straps to her parachute.

“Do you have a death wish or something?” Tony demanded, pressing his wrist again so the suit retracted. “Is this some kind of sick thrill you and witchy need for the bedroom?”

Your jaw clenched slightly at the dismissive nickname Tony labeled on Wanda. “Watch it, Stark.” You hissed. In response the man just raised his hands in surrender. “Did… Did Fury not tell you?” You finally mumbled when the mixed looks of confusion and concern didn’t fade from the team.

“All Fury told us was that any information regarding you was on a need-to-know basis.” Steve replied.

When the confusion didn’t fade from your expression, Wanda leaned forward in her seat. “They think I wanted to hurt you, moya lyubov.” She explained.

You melted at the term of endearment and almost forgot there were other people with you until Sam coughed pointedly. “Oh. Wanda would never hurt me.” The woman smiled at you in silent agreement and again, you almost lost your focus until Tony began tapping his foot impatiently. “Wanda couldn’t hurt me even if she wanted to. None of you could.” You added smugly, proudly wearing a smirk.

“Alright, hot stuff.” Natasha interjected. “We’re going to need more details than that. Some elaboration for why you didn’t mind going on an involuntary skydive.”

You smirked in amusement at her choice of words. “Hot stuff you say, Romanoff?” You teased, a flirtatious tone lacing your words. Natasha rolled her eyes.

“Y/n.” Wanda warned sharply.

You raised your hands to feign innocence before continuing. “Right. I’m… how would you say it, love?” you turned towards Wanda for assistance.

She stood up and made her way over to you, her hand resting comfortably on the exposed skin of your arm, a possessive stance. The cold rings on her fingers sent a small shiver down your spine. “Long story short, she’s basically indestructible.”

Bruce finally chimed in, the logical part of him making an effort to understand your powers. “How is that?”

You turned your head slightly to face him and raised an eyebrow in challenge. “I don’t know. Kind of came with the various serums Hydra injected into me against my will.”

“So, you’re basically immortal?” Sam questioned.

“Well... no. I age... And I can die.” Wanda’s grip tightened around your arm in fear, and you quickly rushed forward. “It's just more difficult. My body adapts to attacks though. If I had made impact with the ground, I would have been okay. It just would have been annoying getting back to New York.” You added with a pointed stare.

Wanda merely kissed your cheek in response. “So, when Wanda pushed you out of the jet…” Natasha began.

“I knew she would be okay. Maybe just a little inconvenienced.” Wanda replied with a smile. “I love her too much to cause any real damage.” You flushed at her words.

"I love you too." You mumbled shyly.

The team practically all shook their heads in unison. “Well… Just don’t do it again.” Steve grumbled as he made his way back over to the pilot’s chair.

“We’re going to have to test this out.” Sam said excitedly. Tony rolled his eyes and turned away.

“What did Y/n do to make you throw her out the jet though?” Tony questioned curiously.

Wanda squinted her eyes as your gaze shifted to Natasha and quickly back to Wanda. “She got jealous.” You eventually settled on.

“I wasn’t jealous.”

Sam and Natasha watched in amusement as you both continued to bicker. “Yes, you were.”

“No. I wasn’t.” Wanda hissed, her eyes beginning to glow.

Your eyes widened slightly as you created a safe distance between you both. “O-okay. You weren’t.” Natasha and Sam laughed a final time before leaving you and Wanda to continue your conversation in private.

And just like that everyone settled back into their conversations.

The situation was never really brought up again until months later, on the way to a mission. That was the day that the team quickly learned that there were limits to testing your abilities. Limits to testing Wanda’s love for you. They kind of went hand-in-hand it seemed.

You had been having a discussion with Tony regarding who knows what when suddenly Tony tapped his watch, the Iron-Man suit wrapping around his hand as he blasted you out of the back of the quinjet.

When he turned to meet the wide eyes of the rest of the team, he was laughing. “You know, Maximoff, you’re right. That is kind of therapeutic.”

Wanda’s eyes glowed red as she leapt out of the quinjet without a word. “You’re in trouble.” Natasha mumbled under her breath as she watched the smile immediately fall from Tony’s face.

A moment later, Wanda floated back into the jet with you wrapped safely in her red energy. The team watched as she slowly lowered her hand, as if she was taking every precaution to be gentle with you.

Tony gulped when she spun around to face him, her eyes ablaze. “No one and I mean no one will ever lay a hand on Y/n, but me.” The red whisps around her hands floated over to Tony and roughly pushed him back into the wall of the jet. “Next time I won’t be so forgiving.”

The red glow in her eyes faded as she turned and pulled you into her arms tightly, protectively. “Are you okay?” She mumbled into your neck.

You chuckled and stroked her back soothingly. “I’m fine, my love.” You looked over your shoulder to meet Tony’s eyes. “Though throwing me out of the jet because I said I thought Steve could win in a fight against you was uncalled for.”

In response Tony rolled his eyes and Steve let out a boisterous laugh from his place in the pilot’s seat. “Good call, kid.” He called out.

“Good call, kid.” Tony mocked under his breath before taking a seat off to the side.

Wanda’s arms tightened around you as she looked out at the rest of the team. “I mean it. No one touches her except me.”

Sam whistled lowly. “No more involuntary skydives, got it.”

Wanda turned her head back into your neck to hide her smile and you laughed at the phrasing. “From now on I’d like to skydive on a volunteer basis only.” You mumbled quietly which made the whole team laugh in response.

And that's all folks! Just some light hearted humorous look into an indestructible reader. With some light fluff thrown in for good measure. Hope this made up for "Good For You" haha.
