- Lots of unrest and sleepless nights are in the future for our duo.

- Why do I feel this why? I have no claim to him/her. He/she can do whatever they want. I’m just worried I’ll lose my best friend. Yeah, absolutely nothing else is going on. Imagines other person kissing someone else and feels like they were stabbed. *Gasp* N-nope, not a thing.

- Each tries to improve the situation by inviting the the other out with their new romantic interest to build new friendships.

- Doesn’t work.

- Marinette finds Kagami to be cold and condescending. Adrien thinks Luka is too cool for his own good and needs to be brought back down to Earth.

- These opinions obviously have nothing to do with denial of romantic interest in one another. Absolutely not. It can only be fact.

- Alya and Nino play a big role in this portion of the story, giving reasonable and realistic advice to their friends and often advocating for them to the other.

- The day comes when Kagami asks Adrien on a date. Cue Oblivious!Adrien’s shock face.

- Answer is immediately no. She’s cool and he’s thinks she’s a great friend, but he doesn’t see her as anything more.

Kagami: Is there someone else?

Adrien: Um, w-what? No, I mean, I don’t think so?

Kagami: Not even Marinette?

Adrien: 😳

- Meanwhile, Marinette is at Luka’s, listening to him play guitar. And he can’t nail down her song, cause it’s all over the board.

Luka: So, what’s up?

Marinette: W-what? Nothing.

Luka: You sure? Cause this is what I hear.

Luka: CHaOtic pLaYInG!!!

Luka: It’s the musical equivalent of a cat frantically chasing a bug.

- Time passes and the air is cleared between the two. Feelings for Luka/Kagami are strictly prohibited.

- As things continue on, there is a clear shift in the superhero dynamic.

- Shy glances, sneaky peaks, timid questions, all the nerves. Like, hi, can I get five Big Mac(MySentencesIntoAbsoluteGibberish) and four McFlurry(InMyStomachOhMyGoshI’mSoNervous) and a side fries(MyBrianIt’sOkayJustWon’tBeCapableOfRationalThought).

- Civilian side is not much better.

- Marinette seems to spontaneously develop a fever every time Adrien is near.

- Adrien can’t seem to string together a coherent sentence to save his life without a overload of puns.

- Class is watching with baited breath.

- “Guys, I know we’re all excited for this, but maybe...”

- All of the class somehow on Adrien’s roof and walls, peaking through his huge window, watching the two.

- “...we might be taking it to far. I’m just sayin— ARE THEY ABOUT TO KISS?!”

- No, they didn’t kiss.

- ...Yet...

- Side note, Hawkmoth is wants them to get together. Not because he cares, but he finally has a breather from their intensive search for him.

- He’s currently sprawled out on his newly bought Lazyboy recliner, in his lair, napping.

- Adrien and Marinette don’t have crushes on either side of their identities. That’s right, no lovesquare.

- But, they do know each other’s identities. So Adrien knows Mari is LB and Mari knows Adrien is CN.

- Adrien + Marinette = friendship goals. All hail the best friend ship, USS We’rePartnersBitch.

- Chat is much more jokester and less flirty. Total prankster. Level 100 pun master. All the meme knowledge.

- Ladybug is sassy. Sassy AF. And die hard justice enthusiast. No evil shall escape.

- Basically, without love in the mix, these two go to town on evil. Lots of sleuthing. Hawkmoth is sweating bullets. “I thought I was the villain of a kid’s show, so why is it that there seems to be actually plot development?!”

- Outside the suits, Adrien models for Marinette. He puns and she pokes him with a needle. Very cutesy.

- Marinette comes to photo shoots for Adrien. She claps and he smiles. Then the staff tells her to stop making him move cause it’s ruining the shot. Very cutesy.

- Lots of covering for each other.

- Out with friends and akuma time? “Hey, didn’t my dad want to take with you about fashion?” “Oh yeah! We gotta go!”

- In class when, BAM, akuma? “You still have my book in you locker?” “Shoot, I do. Let me unlock it for you.”

- Akuma while not together? “Hey, I got to go see Marinette/Adrien, later!”

- Class totally ships it but can’t break through THEY’RE JUST A FRIEND force field.

- UNTIL...

- Luka & Kagami

- While there are no feelings on Marinette and Adrien’s part, they are being flirted at.

- We’re not together, why do I feel this way?

- Cue unfolding feelings.
