You know its kinda funny how it feels like a lot of ppl don't think to protest that Aaravos could be bi, yet I've met people who are like Viscerally opposed to Viren being bi

Despite the comment in an interview somewhere that a head writer was like "everyone is canonly bi" which even if you think it's a joke (I don't think it is) it's like, why assume heteronormativity in a world that we've been shown isn't heteronormative? Why disregard the subtext and chemistry Viren has had with other men? Does he have to Kiss someone or have a Canon ship to be Proven bi? On you knees thing aside, I feel like more people would be seeing everything with Aaravos as seductive/alluring without question if Aaravos was female, but because he's male and so is Viren, it's like its not clicking

I think it kinda boils down to a "girls gays and theys" attitude which is still around, which kinda boils down to people going "I don't clock gay/bi men as Real Men" which is just homophobia 101 no matter how progressive you think you are by separating mlm from all other men

So if you have someone like Viren, masculine, and who has a dose of toxic masculinity the show even directly addresses, he's so male/not Marked in some way as LGBT to a lot of people so it's like the potential for him to be queer doesn't exist for some people even in a show with multiple gay couples and a prominent trans character

I just feel like

People can be gay without 1. A Kiss with someone of the same gender since that seems to be the magic thing that makes anything canon/legitimate which I don't agree with and erases loads of subtext in media especially older media and 2. If it's Impossible to see someone traditionally masculine as mlm or someone traditionally feminine as wlw maybe ask yourself why that is

We are a hugely diverse community with every expression of gender and sexuality possible and some people aren't flamboyant or gender non conforming and are still gay bi ect

And I guess I just wish that our concept of what queer people are extended beyond what pings every gaydar in a mile radius (and even Then, people who are gender non confirming Can be cishet!)
