We're the outfits they were wearing at the trial not enough for people? I saw those and immediately thought of Midsommar, a cult horror. It is a small cult, but one nonetheless.
I love that Emil Blonsky is clearly running a text book cult where his most dedicated followers/harem dress identically and spent all their money on him so he can open a “meditation centre” and “exclusive members” pay their way to peace and its all wrapped in cultural appropriation of other religions but the state and police are way more worried about his ability to turn into a hulk-like monster despite him having demonstrated that he is in perfect control. And the way it’s all depicted is so deliberately tongue in cheek like it’s just some fun camp where people learn self help.

And it’s all the better when people who aren’t as obsessed with cults as freaks like me think he’s just in a cute poly relationship with seven milfs. It helps illustrate why people don’t react soon enough to cults. I don’t care if you hate She-Hulk, the Emil Blonsky side plot is one of my favorite things to come out of the MCU in a while. So far it’s just a cult that rips it’s followed off and Emil found himself seven monsterfuckers who are a little too much into that monster dick, which is why it’s funny and not horrific. I just love that kind of humor where it’s so obvious what it is but because they never say the word cult and the people involved are so chill and pleasant the other characters either don’t pick up on it, don’t care or focus on the wrong thing.
Haven't been watching Heartstopper recently because I'm madly in love with Nick Nelson and I just can't deal with that right now
