Dexter changes its name a lot, and uses literally every pronoun on the cat.

No one knows if he's talking about a different cat or not or even what the cats sex is.

Oh god I hate this as well, I also have intrusive thoughts and just reading this made me feel ill.

I much prefer the take that he is just acting on his repressed wants and desires, it make much more sense anyway. The most Hyde probably ever did (other than killing ONE man and trampling a little girl) was most likely cross-dressing and over indulgence. Those aren't intrusive thoughts they're just things people want to do but social pressure forces you not to.

It's also made worse when people make it about DID as well, it makes two mentally ill groups look bad and/or evil when in reality we're the victims.

I hope the J&H fandom gets better and realized how damaging some of these headcanons are to us.

as someone who has VERY gross, violent intrusive thoughts: no, I don’t think I’d like any jekyll and hyde take in which Hyde is intrusive thoughts rather than repressed desires. my intrusive thoughts bring me a great deal of pain and they’re not the sort of thing I want to see represented through a fictional monster that gets off on hurting people. fuck off with that. It’s not interesting, it’s fucking hurtful and it makes me feel even more of a monster.
