HE! PAUSE! I keep giving this man cool outfits, and he gets to have a cool jean jacket because as far as I'm concerned he made half of those patches we keep drawing Etho with. Like, they made a team design together, and Pause turned it into a patch, and that turned into a whole thing of Team Canada each choosing an item of clothing to absolutely COVER in patches. It is a bonding experience.

Docm77 x Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust

I drew Doc in the style of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust! And it took like 12 hours!

I picked this style for Doc because Bloodlust has the most detailed, over-the-top dramatic animation style I've seen in a long time and I thought it would be very funny to render Doc in a way that was 100x more extra than any of the other hermits.

Bloodlust is a dramatic, very gothic movie about a romance between a vampire and a human and the vampire hunter who is hunting them down. I won't get into the plot here, since it is very involved, but it is melancholic and Dramatic with a capital D. It is somewhat reminiscent of Dracula, but in a post-apocalyptic fantasy future.

The main takeaway for me is that it is a BEAUTIFUL movie. Seriously, still images to not do it justice. The entire thing is animated like a baroque painting come to life. Like Caravaggio meets anime, for real. Go watch some clips, you'll see what I mean.

Also nearly everyone is like, shrink-wrapped into their clothes. That wasn't just a choice I made for The Goat, that's just what people in this movie look like.

I probably spent a solid half an hour wheezing at this and almost accidentally posted it *to the wrong blog* before drawing clothes on anyone and it made me laugh even harder. Send help I’m dying

Day 12 - Friends of Hermitcraft Lizzie <3

someone asked how to colour a traditional sketch digitally so I'll explain that down below ^ ^

no really much of a tutorial, anyways

I take a picture of my sketch (a scan is actually better because then you don't have to do the next step)

then I edit it so that I get high contrast with the colours, when I got a pencil sketch I simply make it black-and-white and try to get the white as bright as possible without losing my lines

after that I Import it into my drawing app, with ibis you got the option to extract lines so I usually do that but it doesn't always gives you a satisfactory result

if extracting lines doesn't work/isn't an option simply put the layer of your drawing into multiply and keep it above your colour layers

one thing to keep in mind is that if you don't have a pure white where the empty paper is, which is most likely always the case, you always gonna have your colours a bit more muted than you what you actually are putting down

so maybe this little tutorial is of any use, hope I could teach some ppl something new :D
