V. I love pigeons and chickens too much! Dreaming and planning for the distant future where I can care for a flock. Icon and Header images are both taken by me, my icon being my favorite local pigeon 💖 This is a sideblog! Likes and reblogs from she-doesnt-have-the-range.

You have been visited by some budgie buddies, just hanging out until the storm passes.

The zoo near me used to have a Victoria Crowned and he got real close to me and my partner. He was kept in an open aviary, so he could walk right next to guests. Gorgeous bird and this one is just as lovely.

European starling, one of the most successful birds in urban areas. During autumn and winter especially, when some starlings have migrated from colder climates and joined their warm weather resident relatives, they move in a huge cloud of birds, called a murmuration, on their way to their nightly roosting site.
[ID: an illustration of an iridescent black bird with a gold lacy pattern to its feathers flying to the left. It is on a sunset background with a loosely depicted flock of starlings behind it, merging into dark cloud shapes. End.]
i think a lot of people hear the word ‘roadrunner’ and associate it immediately with the looney tunes character but uh. real roadrunners actually manage to look even stranger than the cartoon?

The largest known population of one of Australia’s rarest birds has been found living in Western Australia’s Great Sandy desert.
A team of Ngururrpa rangers and scientists detected the stronghold of up to 50 night parrots - a critically endangered species once feared extinct - living on Indigenous-managed land, according to a study published in Wildlife Research.

Some more pictures from the common terns with their cute chicks. They can be quite noisy birds and it looks like one of the little ones already practices.
@todaysbird todays birds are this family of mourning doves!

just found out about this cute little birdy and i am in love

Some pictures from this summer, because as I was looking for baby crow pictures for a new calendar and discovered that I still have lots of pictures I sorted yet (my backlog is worse than I thought).
So here are some cute baby rooks and adult birds that are very good at ignoring their screaming. I think those adult rooks are not the parents of these fledglings, but baby rooks scream at every adult bird they see, just in case it will lead to some food for them.

some more little raptor designs, as usual available to purchase on my kofi
