Too late

You hadn’t been back in DC since you moved to the office out it Naples, Italy. You missed family holidays all because I didn’t wanna see Tony. You and Tony had always been flirting but nothing ever happened and it left you heartbroken. So since you always wanted to travel abroad you asked to be transferred and it was granted. But, Ziva wanted you to come back for Christmas so you did.

Being back in the big orange room gave you a whirlwind of feelings. Regret, happiness, anger, sadness.

“Y/n!” Ziva called.

“Hey Ziva.” You said, pulling her into a hug.

“I thought being in Italy so long you’d struggle with your English.”

“No, I’ve been chatting with Abby almost every day.”

“Ah! So, how was Italy?”

“It’s definitely something different.” You turned as someone walked into the room.

“Tim!” You called. He looked over

“Hey y/n.” He said looking away. He quickly turned his head back. “Y/n?!” You smiled walking towards him.

“Hi.”

“I didn’t know you were coming. You’re just in time for Christmas. That is if your staying. Your staying right?”

“I’m staying until the 26th, so two days.”

“Abby’s gonna be so excited.”

“Can we go see her?”

“Sure.”

You followed Tim as he led you down to the lab.

“Abby.” You said, as you walked in.

“Y/n!” She yelled, running over pulling you into a hug. “Does Tony know your here? You guys had a pretty bad falling out.” You shook your head.

“I haven’t seen him yet.

“Maybe you should. Maybe just talking could help, it’s been 5 years since you left.”

“Yeah, do you know where he is?”

“Well if he isn’t in the squad room or down here, he’s probably by the vending machines.”

“Thanks.”

“Tony.” You say walking towards him.

“Y/n.” He looked at you and you could see nothing but pain in his eyes.

“It’s been what, 3 years?”

“It’s been 5.”

“Oh. Well I’m sorry about how we left things. That wasn’t very smart, for the both of us. If I had done this 5 years ago maybe you would have stayed.”

“Done what?”

“Listen, y/n, five years without you has been absolute hell. I missed our flirting but more importantly I missed you. Y/n, will you be my girlfriend?” You looked into his eyes.

“If you asked me years ago, I would have said yes.” You walked away chocking back tears. You wanted to say yes but it was 13 years of flirting back in forth with no result, so, for both of your pride you had to say no. That if it had been five years ago you would have said yes.

He walked over, grabbing your shoulder so you’d face him. You stared into his eyes, waiting for what he was gonna say.

“I m-“

You and Jethro have been dating for a month now. The relationship was, as you would say, cheesy. You spent most of the time visiting Jethro's house and he would fix dinner. You have told him you would like him to meet your brother at some point but Jethro kept avoiding the topic. 

You brought it up at dinner again while you two were eating steak. 

"My brother has invited me to work tomorrow to visit. I figured you would like to come?" You asked. 

"Y/n, darling. You know I have to work tomorrow at NCIS. Maybe another day." Jethro sighed as you pouted. "Come on. Don't pout at me." 

Jethro bent over the table and kissed your lips softly. You two broke the kiss and you grabbed the dishes to wash. As you began to wash the dishes, you felt Jethro's arms wrapped around your waist. He began to kiss up and down your neck.

"Jethro!" You gasped almost dropping a plate. 

"I'm sorry Y/n." He said placing another kiss on the spot that made you gasping.

"You know I can't stay long!" You laughed. 

"Let me give you something to remember me by." Jethro whispered in your ear. 

You laughed as Jethro spun you around and kissed your lips harsh. Your hands tangled in his grey hair as his tongue flicked the bottom of your lip. You opened your mouth as your tongues began to meld. He broke the kiss to leave a mark on your neck as you panted for air. 

"There. I love you Y/n." Jethro mumbled in your ear.

"I love you too Jethro. I'll be back and stay for the weekend." You said as Jethro helped you walk out to your car. 

The next morning, your brother gave you the address of where he worked and said for you to give his name to walk in and he would be waiting. As you parked your car, the guards were waiting and checked your purse. 

"I'm visiting Timothy McGee." You said as the guards led you over. 

"You finally showed up! I was beginning to worry. The team wants to meet you." Tim said as he hugged you tight. "You'll like the team."

You two got in the elevator and as it began to rise, Tim looked at you strangely. 

"What?" You asked. 

"I didn't know you were romantically involved." Tim said as you blushed. 

"Is it that visible?" You asked. 

"Yes Little McGee." He laughed as the elevator dinged. "Let's meet the team."

You saw the bullpen that Tim told you about as a blonde was working at the desk and a brunette smiled big.

"Well hello there." The brunette said. 

"Tony leave my sister alone." Tim said as Tony smirked. 

"So you're the famous Little McGee?" Tony asked as you rolled your eyes.

"In the flesh." You said as the blonde stood up.

"I'm Ellie, boss should be coming around soon." She said as Tim smiled.

"You have to meet my boss Y/n. He's silent but he means well." Tim said as you heard a familiar sound. 

"Well I guess I can take it as a compliment." You heard and spun around to see Jethro. 

"Gibbs meet Y/n, my sister." Tim said as your face flushed.

"Haven't we met before?" Jethro asked winking at you. 

Before you could say anything and the confused Tim could say anything, you heard two gasps.

"You two are dating!?" Ellie and Tony yelled. 

"What?!" Tim yelled.

"Surprise?" You said as you blushed and Jethro wrapped an arm around your waist. 

"That mean-mean that you are-that you knew her?" Tim was trying to make sense. 

"We've been dating for a month and Y/n has been wanting me to meet her brother but I knew it was you all along." Jethro said as you spun around.

"Why didn't you tell me?" You and Tim exclaimed. 

"I was just waiting for the right moment." Jethro laughed as Tony whooped.

"Yes Gibbs is getting some." Tony said as Jethro walked over to smack the back of his head. "You didn't deny it."

"Because while it is true, I don't want my personal matters here." Jethro said as you turned away. 

"Or conquests." Ellie said as Jethro groaned. 

"Gross! Don't we have a case?" Tim yelled as you smiled.

"We do so load up." Jethro said before walking over and kissing the corner of your lips. "We'll talk about this later."

"Just stay here." Tim said as you playfully saluted him. "We have a lot to talk about."

The rest of the team began their investigation with a new case while you sat at Tim's desk. You waited for them to get back and you didn't know, but Jethro was promising Tim how he would protect you and love you. It gave Tim comfort but he had to be careful the times he just shows up to Gibbs's place.

I especially love: After a moment, you pull back enough to smile widely at him, the realization that this man would become your husband, the man that you got to spend the rest of your life with, starts to dawn on you, filling you with elation and excitement, not only for your wedding but for the future you’d had with the man you loved.

I’m shocked that Gibbs didn’t threaten him honestly but I do feel if he trusted him that he wouldn’t feel the need although: “Why should I let you marry my daughter.” Seems scary enough.
