i. we drove to mcdonald’s at 3 a.m.!

Life is filled with those little moments in between all the chaos and uncertainty, the countless whispers of truths or continuous actions of success contribute to the unavoidable, yet constant, thrill. You’re glad to say that all those little moments are ones that you never miss. Generally, you have your best friend to drag you along on excursions that you didn’t always agree to, though it didn’t stop you from planning your own as well. You’d say that’s why the two of you began shooting videos to accompany your daily lives, and after twenty million followers and a blue checkmark on social media, you’d also say that it’s the reason you’re embarking on a journey to Donghyuck’s car about three hours before sunrise.

“So,” you hold up the small camera on the tripod over your head. “As you can see, Hyu—Haechan’s a little clingy in the morning.”

Clingy might be an understatement from the way your best friend has his arms wrapped loosely around your waist—with his head resting heavily against your shoulder and his eyes barely open—as you both make your way to the parking garage. He doesn’t respond to your comment verbally, only tightening his grip around your waist, eliciting a giggle from you. 

“He doesn’t really like being woken up,” you mention softly, watching through the camera screen as he turns his head towards the lens and smiles lazily. “Oh! I almost forgot, gosh, but we’re going to McDonald’s! Though you probably know that from the title…and the thumbnail, but anyway, yeah! This was actually an idea given to us from Renjun! I’m sure you guys have heard about him before from our other videos, but if you’re new, it’d be great if you checked out his channel! I’ll link it in the descrip—”

“It’s not the morning if the sun isn’t in the fucking sky, Y/N,” Donghyuck interrupts lately with a sour tone. “And as you can see,” he gestures to his face with one hand, “the sun hasn’t woken up yet.”

You usually aren’t one to get nervous over many situations that spring up in your life. For example, cooking a difficult meal to impress your family? Easy. Moving out at seventeen years old to take on university in the big city? Simple. Taking on a multitude of presentations in both a school and workplace environment? Manageable, once the anxiety was overcome. However, like most people, there’s something that you constantly struggled with and that was relationships—most specifically the different milestones that come along with the whole honeymoon stage, those first moments when two people start to learn about each other in order to pick up on their quirks and habits, their likes and dislikes.

It’s the stage that you’re definitely still in with Min Yoongi. Now, don’t be fooled, you love the honeymoon stage with Min Yoongi. Even with the distance that is often carved between the two of you through his travels and promotions, writing songs, music videos, having to engage in constant communication with his fans—all of which he loves dearly, and you know this and you respect this part of his life—he still manages to text you and call you whenever he can if only to get in one or two words about his day. It’s through this that you learn of how much effort he puts into everything that he does, a gesture that really only makes you fall more in love with him.

But through all the excitement that comes with discovering all the little pieces that make up an individual, it also brings into light the apprehension of how a person would react to certain events. It’s from this that you realize that perhaps the only thing that could generate a nervous sensation in the pit of your stomach is the thought of your boyfriend.

It was a terrible idea - from beginning to end. This thought is all Jungkook fixates on as he walks you home from the restaurant.

When he initially heard about the rent-a-girlfriend company, Rented Hearts, he had scoffed at the idea. Imagine being desperate enough to actually spend money for the courtesy of taking someone out on a date.

Yet, with his friends Jimin and Taehyung pestering him about renting a girlfriend, with suggestions of “Hey, Jungkookie, this could help you get over your fear of talking to girls!” or “Wow, finally! A company that caters specifically to Jungkook!”, he had finally caved, and decided to rent a date – just to prove that it was a stupid idea.

What he had not counted on was his date being – dear god, no! - absolutely adorable.
