You Know You're A Geek When...

The walk home from seeing The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug with your fiancé results in you explaining:

The reason why Elves hold starlight so dearly, talking about how the Moon & Sun were made for Elves and Men, mentioning Eru Ilúvatar AT ALL, why Tauriel is different than Thranduil & Legolas, the different versions of Elvish that are spoken, and more that eagerly ready to explain why Dwarves getting burned is so SIGNIFICANT in their culture.

All because he asked a few simple questions about the movie.

I'm actually the Tolkien nerd among my friends, and I haven't even READ all of the Trilogy (I'll get to it one day, I swear). But having grown up with a father who has every book of Middle-Earth written by Tolkien, who gave me the Hobbit on my 12th birthday and who had his class ring inscribed with his name in Elvish, I guess I was kinda destined to have the urge to learn about Middle-Earth's history, read wiki page after wiki page of it from SHEER CURIOSITY, and bring up these random obscure bits around my friends.

(Random question: Does anyone else get giddy over athelas being so obscure in the Jackson movies? Sam & Oin call it by the common name "kingsfoil", and even then Sam only knows what it is because he's a gardener. I dunno why, I just love seeing that detail put in.)

Assassin's Creed has made me cry in various moments, but 3 left me bawling because the game had fast become depressing, and thus the accumulation of it all at the end broke me. Anything involving Desmond in 4 has made me tear up too.
