Ship It or Don't Ship It!

1. What made you ship it?

I am a firm believer that Rue doesn't need to be in a relationship until she's confident in her sober state, but after that, I think they'd be super cute! I definitely think that Maddy's genuine show of concern after Rue revealed that she'd relapsed in the bathroom kinda kicked off my intrigue, and then the hug during the intervention. the way that Maddy threw herself at her and was so excited to see her, and the way that Rue kinda just bent down to reach her. cute! ignoring the context, of course.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

the genuine care there. Maddy clearly loves and cares about Rue, and I think she'd be very understanding of Rue's hardships. which is something that is vital if you want to be in a relationship with her. likewise, Rue has shown herself to be a very loving person when she's sober; she's extremely protective of Gia and Jules, she starts mending her relationships with Lexi and Fez, and she's just overall a very caring person when she's sober. I think that Maddy would need that kind of person as a significant other.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

it's not really a popular ship, so I don't know if there are any popular or unpopular opinions. I know that platonically, I have opinions. I think that Maddy is genuinely a very good friend, and the fact that people say she's a mean girl doesn't really... compute? for me? in the first season she was definitely not in the best place because of her relationship with Nate, but in this season she's genuinely a very sweet girl. especially to Rue, honestly. as for the negative, if you think that Rue exposed Cassie out of the kindness of her heart because she thought that Maddy deserved to know, you're.. wrong. lmao.
