Ok, ok did you notice the little change of Philips's voice after he "ate" the palisman? How it was kind of like an echo repeating everything he says? An echo that sounded just like the Belos we know?

What if there is more to his story than being a git? I mean, we saw Belos, the destination, the tyrant ruler of the Isle's and we saw "Philip Wittebane" the human who hates witches, eats palisman, and tries to go home after probably decades. Now I'm mostly interested in meeting Philip Wittebane 16th century Englishman, an older/younger brother, who just arrived at the Isles, and is still fascinated with magic.

What I'm proposing is the timeline of how he turned into who he is today, and maybe the ones who Luz and Hunter will meet in his mind:

Phase 1 Philip Wittebane: The Englishman the human from the human world who is just interested in what's up with the witches. The child.

Phase 2 "Philip Wittebane": The man who just lost his brother, who's only a shell of himself somewhere before s2e12

Phase 3 "Phillip Wittebane"/"Belos": The palisman eating asshole, "let's sacrifice some people" he said, the one who takes the first steps towards embracing being corrupted by wild magic, desperately tries to get his brother back and go home, s2e12

Phase 4 "Belos": Right before being fully corrupted, maybe tries to go back to phase 1/2, loses control fully -> not sure if it was by will or not, getting Wittebro back is not first priority anymore, somewhere after s2e12 maybe around the time he killed the titan

Phase 5 Belos: The one who we know and love to hate and hate to love

I honestly don't think that this is Belos, I think they're like the owl beast in Eda's mind. Probably a curse from the Collector. Their shape is kind of inhuman, looks like they have fur(?) and goo all over them. I'm pretty sure they either don't have much to do with Wittebane carving glyphs into his arms, or this is what happens when your own stupidity (see: carving glyphs into your arms) and a beast curse get combined. Eating palisman didn't help much either I think. Maybe overfused (idk how to say this help) wild magic. Too much was combined. Always needs more to stay stable -> have to eat more palisman.

Unpopular Theory: Belos is not Philip Wittebane

know that everyone, seeing the last episode, sincerely believes that Philip is Belos and that he very possibly killed his brother, but I don't think so. I know that to say that they look quite alike is not enough

But if they are really related in another way, how about father and son? If his resemblance is due to that, Belos is the son of Philip either with a witch or a human, I know that many will say no with the first option because Philip hates witches but many conquerors who saw the indigenous as inferior would still they slept with indigenous women. Philip was able to conceive him as a test subject, drawing the same seals on his body and forcing him to consume palismanians before doing it himself, he would continue like this until his eldest son, the fruit of a relationship with a human on Earth, would manage to reach the Boiling Islands. in search of his father. When he got there he would find him and just by seeing Belos he would realize that he is his younger brother. They would go together with Blue Tooth to the eclipse lake, Philip would sacrifice Blue Tooth and consume his palisman, his eldest son would witness and realize his father's experiments in Belos, horrified by his father's actions, he flees with his brother to the human world. taking the portal. There I have 2 ideas:

1) Unfortunately both brothers could not get used to life in the 18th century, Belos being half witch with a fondness for magitek and his older brother with a red cardinal palisman named Flapjack would miss The Boiling Isles, the two decide to return even if the former liked the natural environment of Earth.

2) The brothers manage to adapt, Belos uses illusions to hide his ears and lives in peace until the arrival of a witch who tells them about his father and convinces them to return

In both options they would never return to Earth

If Belos were the son of a human woman, he would be the son who fell into the demon realm with his father who would force him to carve seals on his body and consume palismans until he was saved by his brother.

Why do I believe that?

Belos looks almost identical to Philip but his face is thinner and his hair is a lighter color.
