I love this thank you so much for sharing!!!! Not only is this super interesting and important queer german history, but its also good to know that i had something going when first saw his Mephisto and my first thought was “drag queen” ;)

So in the 1960 movie adaptation of Goethe’s play “Faust”, they chose to give the devil Mephistopheles a very different look than how he’s usually portrayed.

Here are a few images of what Mephisto is usually shown as looking like:

so just your very average looking devil/demon figure with a hat, you know?

absolutely amazed by this introductory scene with ned having theon carry the sword Ice & how initially you think nothing by it & it’s only later, on rereading maybe, that the situation really hits.
