a great part of Kabru and Mithrun's plotline is that- being told through Kabru's perspective- it's framed as "Mithrun needs Kabru to live" and ignores what we've known from Kabru's first scenes- that Kabru sucks at being in a dungeon and dies constantly and without Mithrun would've been a mangled corpse somewhere on those lower floors. They both equally need the other to survive.

I point and laugh at the foot fetish pages (Weren't you raised by elves? Can't you sing? Anything else as a first idea?) but it's just me disguising how it wounds me. Mithrun is convinced that he's dependent on magic or drugs to fall asleep, and it's so immediately disproven. It gives me the impression those methods were the elves' first idea, and it worked, so they kept doing it and he now believes it's necessary. He evidently can't even do it to himself. He believes he's dependent on this cold, utilitarian solution.

It makes me wonder about how he perceives himself and his situation, and how he reports it to people. It's a good early insight into reasons Kabru will tell him he's full of shit later.

Kabru is a stranger at this point, basically, so he doesn't have those assumptions about him. He just does what he'd do for anyone else, which is to just. Put him somewhere warm and make him feel comfortable and safe.

What's it like to be spared death by people who won't even do that for you?

I absolutely hate people saying this meant nothing, was unnecessary or led nowhere. This wraps up Takaba's character arc! It's his conclusion! That this wasn't the real Kenjaku (much less Geto) was pretty obvious, what matters about this is showing that Takaba went back to perform comedy, the fight against Kenjaku helped him overcome his mental blockades and he still sees Kenjaku as his ideal partner. We don't need a clear answer as to who this is, what matters is how Takaba feels about the encounter they had in Baka Survivor. In ch 249 we heard Kenjaku's side of things, how it moved them and this is Takaba's equivalent.

"What was that all about??" It was about Takaba and his connection with Kenjaku.

At best this would be an illusion fashioned by Takaba to imitate Kenjaku. Kenjaku surviving being eaten by Rika was very unlikely to begin with and even if this was the real Kenjaku, this would pretty much mean that they gave up on the merger plan and decided to join Takaba. Their last words when Yuuta stabbed their brain also teased them potentially changing their mind and this page would be the answer to this:

Kenjaku would be able to forget about the merger if they found something more interesting aka Takaba.

That page in ch 270 didn't really give me the impression there would be anything more, much less that Kenjaku was still scheming something. It was closure for the Baka Survivor arc and for that I think it was well done. There is much to criticize in the last chapters, but this isn't one of it. This was more about Takaba than anything or anyone else. I wish more characters got to have this kind of ending and wrap-up of their character arc, would certainly improve the ending we got.

I actually hate when ppl call Laios stupid. It drives me insane. He’s literally one of the most intelligent characters in the series, if it wasn’t for his expertise on monsters the whole crew would’ve been DEAD.

One of the funniest but actually really sad interpretations of Chilchuck's and his wife's relationship is in the wife's mind they're no longer together completely, but in Chilchuck's they're just going through a really big argument.

To Chilwife, her leaving was a divorce. They're no longer together in her mind. He's not her husband and she's not his wife anymore. She only refers to him as her ex husband or father of her daughters. In fact she's even seeing other men, and has been for the past 3 years, without a passing thought for him. They're over, and she just hopes he's taking it/doing well.

Meanwhile in Chilchuck's mind, they're still together, just estranged. It's just a really long cold shoulder type argument. And he just needs to go talk to her and make it all better- but hasn't gotten around to it yet. He's still loyal to her despite not seeing her in so long. He still refers to her as his wife. He still harshly rejects the prostitutes that come to him in the dungeon. He still avoids his eyes at the bare mermaids and harpies. He still has his wedding ring and wedding portraits tucked away in the basement somewhere.

There was no papers and no one ever said the words "it's over" so obviously we're still together, right! Right??
