thinking about how this concept has deeply effected xie lian to the point where it's a reflex for him to reject what heaven says about hua cheng, why WOULD he believe or trust anyone's word over his own impressions and feelings when fundamentally people have proven that they will only ever believe and say what they want and what they believe and say most of the time is generally from a place of bad faith.
