yeah so go ahead and crucify me for this but vindicators 3 was one of my favorite episodes and i think that the hate for season 3 in general is mostly unhustified

so twisted how rick prime claims every version of beth as HIS daughter (“raise echoes of MY daughter”), spitting in our rick’s face the fact that he never had a daughter that grew up, that was raised to adulthood, that had a family of her own, and implying every version of her that remains (and therefore her family) belongs to him, because they were the versions HE allowed to exist. their daughters, one who was loved and thus doomed to die, one who was abandoned and thus allowed to live.

Ok So I Don't Usually Play Pocket Mortys That Much Cause I'm Busy But I Finally Played Again Today After

Ok so I don't usually play pocket Mortys that much cause I'm busy but I finally played again today after a few weeks and HELLO???

FEAR HOLE MORTY???

I'M NOT OKAY? WHAT IS THAT???

I'M HAPPY AND ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED I NEED IT THOUGH.

I already got Diane and I love her I'm never letting her go :(( (No I will not be calling her virtual Diane she's real in my eyes idc what you say)

I'm dying.

The "Fear No Mort" ending is brilliant because Morty's fear DID come true. Rick didn't jump after him--he just stood there and watched. But he wasn't trying to hurt Morty this time. I think he just didn't grasp the reality of the situation because he thought Morty's fears were something stupid, like spiders. And what Morty doesn't see is Rick choosing him over dwelling over the past.

That's therapy for you. Rick's finally starting to move on.

i fully truly wholeheartedly believe that if rick had gone in the hole there would have been birdrick moments.

Morty knows Rick so well he basically has a whole head cannon drafted in his head how Diane (who he never met, who is pretty much dead, who he never refers to as grandma unlike how he imagined Summer would've) supposedly a literal perfect match for Rick in every way

Her wit, sarcasm, love for the family, intelligence and alcoholism

Like this is the person Rick (in Morty's eyes) would forever literally die for. Over and over.

Would jump into the hole for.

Would choose over and over. From the beginning. And the end.

And Morty is wrong. As seen from Rick's proud face hanging Morty's picture on the board and the almost hug he gave.

Rick is already moving forward from the past. He is present. And ready for the future with his grandson. And his family.

And Morty didn't have courage in him to believe it could ever be true.

He was the one to run back into the bathroom, he wanted to do it he was the most curious and Rick even stated he didn't want to go in the hole seconds before Morty jumped in.

I do wonder if Rick tried to jump In though, and if the hole maybe just didn't let him but who knows

why would Rick jump into this hole after Morty? in How to Hole the suit man did kinda imply it to be a single person thing. he waited there to see if Morty got out ok. i hope Morty realizes that <3

Morty: „I‘m afraid that if I jumped into a hole you wouldn‘t even bother jumping in after me. You‘d just stand there and watch.“

Me: wishing I could verbalize images so I could scream this whole moment from the top of my lungs

the really interesting thing about mortys fear of relying on rick is that it really does go both ways. like as much as hes afraid of needing rick... rick needs him just as much, if not more. and i think this ties into mortys fear of having to be responsible for ricks sadness.

there are SO many times where morty threatens to leave rick... just as rick constantly reminds morty that he can be replaced.

The Really Interesting Thing About Mortys Fear Of Relying On Rick Is That It Really Does Go Both Ways.
The Really Interesting Thing About Mortys Fear Of Relying On Rick Is That It Really Does Go Both Ways.

the difference is that morty COULD leave rick behind if he really wanted to. and he could probably be okay without him. but hell always come back to rick... because thats how hes meant to be. a mortys defining trait is how he will always put rick and his emotions first.

we can see this in evil morty and how he was able to escape the cycle simply by no longer caring about ricks feelings. what makes him different isnt being evil... its simply no longer prioritising the feelings of rick over his own.

The Really Interesting Thing About Mortys Fear Of Relying On Rick Is That It Really Does Go Both Ways.

like how many times do we see morty choosing to stay with rick despite everything rick puts him through? and i think this is partly where his forgiveness comes from. of course he does truly love rick and that plays into it, but hes also terrified of what might happen without him there to fall back on.

any time rick feels he might lose morty he spirals and lashes out in some weird manipulative way to keep morty reliant on him (which is ironically the very thing morty fears most).

and whenever he DOES lose morty for any amount of time he turns into a complete wreck. probably part of the fear of his own reliance on rick comes from knowing its largely manufactured by rick and not fully his own choice.

even WITH morty there to support him rick is incredibly prone to suicidal ideation and self destructive tendencies. its not hard to work out what would happen if morty was no longer around to cater to his emotions.

so he stays. of course its awful for him. but he does it. hes willing to sacrifice himself and his own emotions to save rick over and over again. because he knows what will happen if he doesnt.

I had to pause and think about this but I came to the conclusion I think he would have brown :)

important question

gloobi

hey i was right it was morty-centric!

mind fuck and a half tho

it seems the purpose of the episode was to remove morty's fear of his perceived self-worth, at least in the eyes of rick, which feels like a natural step in his character development after 7 seasons

this should change the dynamic in the upcoming season

my only worry is that the writers will view this as maxing out morty's character development and deciding there's no where else to go with him. it would be pretty depressing if the writer's thought the best direction for morty's character development to end on was his relationship with rick when there are tons of other issues (bullying, neglect, ect) and characters to bounce off of

we'll just have to see i guess! great episode

I swear to God if they're still in the hole I'm going to throw my phone.

What if in season 8 like episode 3 they realize they're still in the hole and Rick has to make a gadget to officially get them out

I'm going to have a breakdown if that's the case it probably isn't but omg I can't stop thinking about it.

Wow. That episode was just wow.

(Diane in that episode cause this is how I'm feeling about her in this one)

Diane in the episode just felt wrong from the start, before I completely realized it was just Morty's imagination of Diane she felt like she was a bot whose feelings were never real just artificial like assuming how she would feel from someone who never met her (like Morty)s point of view of her, just someone to move it along like the story didn't even revolve around her (which it didn't, it was revolving around Morty) but I now have a huge new fear for the rest of Rick and Morty,

Diane, she'll always be "fake" We'll never get to know her, how she acted, how she felt, what she did, what she liked, or just a good sense of how she used to talk in general and I'm so mad abt that she seems like an incredibly important character who deserves her own backstory and feelings.

I feel robbed she was killed and we don't even get to know what she liked?? I really hope Rick opens up to the family about what she was like or they get to meet her like actually her, maybe from Rick's memory or something.

I just really need more Diane she deserves more screen time and focus.

*sees Rick and Diane in the finale*

*grits teeth*: It's not real

*sees Rick so happy with Diane and afraid of losing her again*

*sobbing uncontrollably, tears running down my face*: It's. Not. Real

list of morty fears from fear no mort:

- being stuffed with maggots

- rick “hooking up” and being happy (theory)

- “being a useless, lonely turd” (more of an insult than a theory)

- watching rick die (theory i think)

- eating spiders

- not being accepted

- being responsible for ricks sadness

- that they’ll never get out because rick will never accept that he’s afraid

- the hole itself

- becoming his father

- rick not jumping after morty.
