you watch logan pull out his phone and swipe through it with his index finger, eyebrows cocked, cigarette lazily hanging off his lips until he turns the phone towards you. it’s an obviously stolen tiktok reposted onto facebook of that orange cat whose meows sounds like it’s saying “i go meow”. logan softly chuckles and shakes his head, swiping away from the video and saying, “ah, that’s some funny shit right there,”

a generous exhale of air escapes your nose. “yeah, that’s silly. i love cat videos,”

“you really can’t go wrong with cats,” he replies. you watch him continue to scroll through his facebook feed with his abnormally bright screen illuminating his look of concentration.

this, for some reason, makes you pull out your own phone and open up the tiktok app. you search through your favorites until you land on a video of a viral cat named nimbus getting the zoomies.

“logan,” you say to get his attention. it felt strange to hear his name with your voice. “i also have something to show you,”

the older man gets close to you. his ever-present scent of whiskey and cigarettes is pungent, making you close your eyes to get your bearings. the sounds of nimbus’ silly chirps and growls emit from your phone speakers, and it manages to elicit a pretty hefty hah! from him. you smile when you put your phone away.

“jesus, that’s hilarious. you oughta send me those videos to me personally, bub. god, that shit’s funny,”

you subtly bite your bottom lip. “yeah. i can send you the links. they’re on tiktok, though. but you dont have to have an account to watch them,”

logan blows out the smoke from cigarette. “sure, that’s fine,”

when the texts go through, and the notifications appear on his phone screen, your mind races if you were meant to see your number saved as your father’s name followed by “hot daughter”.

what disturbs you even more is the fact that you’re not as creeped out as you most definitely should be.
