Captain Honeysucker:
(collection of Gerard Hebert) As Imperial control waned and weakened the de-anthropomorphization of Clarissians in New Oldestland accelerated at an alarming rate. Captain Hieronymous Honeysucker of the privateering Frigate HIMS "Cloaca" was one of the first and certainly the most famous of the Ornifectors, who -- though continuing to fly the flag and generally perform as though they there animated by duty -- lost the ability to communicate in human language as they metamorphosed into novel more or less avian forms of life. His crew all became Ornifectors and their enemies found their uncanny appearance and often irrational behavior truly terrifying. Clarissians themselves, however, regarded the Ornifectors as figures of high romance, and celebrated them in song and the arts, even while rudely rejecting them from polite society. Honeysucker's very public spurning by his fiancee and noted beauty, Eleonora Thatherthwaithe, was the subject of an an epic poem by Fignall Fanngal, "The Pluming of the Roost" and two Operettas.
