Inuvember 2019: Day 13 — SessKagu

Still a day late, but I’ll consider myself caught up now since I won’t write for day 14!

“Hey.”

Sesshomaru barely glanced at her, and Kagura rolled her eyes. Yeah, problem about controlling the wind was that it always carried her scent ahead, and unfortunately, it meant that she apparently couldn’t ever surprise him.

“Missed me?”

This time, he scoffed. Frankly, all of their encounters started like that. It would all be horribly boring, if Kagura didn’t enjoy getting under his skin so much. For someone else it would have felt like constantly rolling back on whatever progress they’d made previously, but for her? She lived for that struggle. She loved nothing more than watching him fall over and over and over again, trying his best not to fall for the same old traps she laid for him every time, and failing more or less miserably.

“Of course you did,” she smirked, taking a step towards him.

He turned to face her, and that was his first mistake. Seriously, this was becoming way too easy. It barely took any provocation to get his attention.

“Don’t flatter yourself,” he said, and his voice was as neutral as ever, but Kagura thought she’d picked up on veiled amusement underneath his bored tone.

Sometimes, she wondered how much they were both playing the game. Was he just pretending to resist her? Did he enjoy denying her, watching her finding new tricks? Maybe he did, but in her eyes, that meant she had already won. It would be a little manipulating, perhaps, but it would mean that he wanted her.

“Shouldn’t I?” she asked, arching an eyebrow, taking a step towards her. “You didn’t seem to mind my presence last time.”

He frowned, and her grin widened. There she was.

“Are you implying you did? Should I leave?”

“Oh don’t try that with me,” she purred, obviously pleased with herself. “I’ve been very clear about what I want with you.” Her fingers hooked in his belt in an attempt to pull him in her direction, but Sesshomaru didn’t budge. It was a little early, sure. She needed to work on him a little more, but she’d get there. “As for you, well… If this was a mistake, how come you keep doing it?” The moon was dancing mischievously in her eyes. “Admit it. You like it just as much as I do.”

A low growl formed in his throat, and Kagura fought against the instinctive reactions that tried to manifest. The first one was to step back. He was a predator, one who could kill her in an instant should he choose to. The second, more insidious, was a shiver. She didn’t doubt he was aware of how into him she was, but that didn’t mean she wanted to constantly stroke his ego.

“Pleasures of the flesh,” he replied, voice strained as her closeness started to affect him. His hands were already itching to touch her, his body screaming for her, his instincts telling her to take her now, but it was too soon. The game wasn’t over now.

Kagura grimaced at that. She didn’t like the sound of that, and frankly, it was downright offensive. She considered, briefly, getting away — ‘If that’s what it’s about, surely, you can replace me easily’ — but it would be her loss as well as him.

“Please. If it was all this is about, you could find any full demon out there. You certainly wouldn’t have to resort to a lowly demon like me.”

Then she grinned, and leaning forward, she stole a kiss, biting his lower lip, not quite hard enough to draw blood, and pulled on it as she moved back. She couldn’t help the rush when she saw how tense he suddenly was, having to fight himself not to touch her.

“I’m sure you enjoy it, I certainly do, but that’s not all there is to it, my Lord.”

New growl, louder this time, and suddenly his arm was around her waist, pressing her against his chest. She bit back a yelp, and instead, pretending to be perfectly fine, like her heart, in another, distant place, wasn’t suddenly beating faster, she put her arms around his neck.

“Finally, you—”

“Silence.”

Ah. So they were done playing then.

For a moment, all Sesshomaru did was stare at her. How did she manage to be both so irritating and interesting? Why didn’t he want anything to do with her and yet couldn’t seem to push her away for good? What was it about her that drove him insane?

She tilted her head, lifting her chin defiantly, like he couldn’t see the lust in her eyes or smell it on her. Maybe he liked the game. Maybe he liked that flame in her eyes. Maybe he liked how unabashedly herself she was.

This time, he leaned down, and he heard the softest of sigh of content leaving her lips. He moved hellishly slowly, if you asked her. She knew they’d get to it soon enough, but she liked it better when he was rough. It made her ache less. It didn’t make her think of a life when she would be able to do whatever she wanted, when she wouldn’t have to sneak away from anyone to be with him.

Because then, in a heartbeat, she would choose that. She would be by his side.

Something inside her broke when he cupped her face. He shouldn’t be, couldn’t be— caring. She couldn’t take caring.

Sesshomaru looked at her again when he moved back, and then he knew for sure.

That was what he liked. That moment, when she was completely, entirely his, when he realized what he meant to her and, in return, couldn’t help but understand what she meant to him.

Maybe that was why they kept it rough. Admitting to something else was terrifying.

They would explore it more, some day, certainly. Whenever they had the time.

They would have time, wouldn’t they?
