and i'm glad that the "jaws" view of sharks is fading. but it worries me that people are saying things like "sharks are literally just ocean puppies". no, they're not as dangerous as a lot of people think, but they're still wild animals. do not treat a shark like a puppy. i've seen videos of people getting themselves bitten by nurse sharks. if you know anything about nurse sharks, then you know that these people were really harassing them. they're not monsters, but they're not your friends either. they're animals who will lash out if they're antagonized or crowded.

I never thought anything bad about the janitors or security guards in my schools. The kids mistreated me, the teachers let them; it was the security guards and janitors who kept me sane. A security guard once chased me into the street when I ran away from school and talked me out of harming myself, and it was a janitor who found me weeping and tearing my textbooks apart in frustration and dropped everything to calm me down. They are all immigrants, like me, they speak my native tongue, and they get what it's like to be tortured for who you are. I cherish every single one of them. The germs from trash can be washed away, the wickedness in the hearts of those I'd had to live through cannot.

PSA: BAD LITTERBOX

i don't usually make posts like this, but this is a truly upsetting topic to me as a lifelong cat owner, so i feel i have a duty to share my knowledge with others.

there is a type of automatic litterbox for cats being sold that is EXTREMELY dangerous and has killed numerous cats through blunt force trauma, suffocation, etc. this litterbox is being sold under different brand names and logos, so i will include the picture of the model and two links to informational videos with more evidence and eloquence than i am able to provide.

please consider not having this type of litterbox in your home for your furry friends. me and my 16 year old tortie, puddy, want the best for all your kitty friends

Real story: bf was taking the dogs out one day in the evening. He came back a bit early and red with fury. I asked him what's wrong, and he said he saw some teens throwing rocks at kittens. He wanted to say something, but didn't want to scare our dogs, especially the elderly pittie who was super sensitive, so he just came to drop them off and he's going back out. He looked like he was ready to kill so I reminded him that no good will come of it if he attacks the teens. He was gritting his teeth for a minute before answering that I'm right, and going out anyway. He came back even more furious because the teens were gone by the time he came back. Took him a solid hour to calm down.

Quite clearly, no. Cats aren't aware and as such cannot be bigoted. If a house cat sees a stray they will likely take distance bc of smells and stuff, but humans, they ostracize addicts and mistreat them. If you would be shitty to a crack addict, then know that you are the reason they are addicted. It isn't a personality flaw as much as it is an accumulation of horrible events and hatred. What addicts need to get better is support, but whoever would call them such a derogatory wouldn't care. You don't want them to be better, you just want them out of your line of sight, and you don't care how that would be achieved. You suck. Know that, and seek to change.

All of my friends that work at wildlife rehab centers have had to untangle animals from this stuff, or had animals brought in that died in it. This is especially nasty for small owl species.
