Regarding types of magic in multiple realms,

I don't know if this is controversial, but I just wanted to talk about my thoughts and feelings on the matter since I've seen discussions around physical magis and pop culture witchcraft magis and puella magis. First off, you can use magic in the physical realm. It isn't "impossible". IRL chunnibyous/magic users (we don't use chunni as a negative term or to call people fake) have been using magic in the physical realm for years. I've always felt more at home with IRL magic users than magical heros, and I think it is because of a few Discord servers a long time ago that were packed with misinformation about magical heros, and because I learned most of what I know from them, I still have those ideas, and it's hard to tell which is and isn't right. The only reason I am an astral puella magi is because of them. It is both good and bad. I don't regret being an astral puella magi, but I became that specifically because I didn't know there were other options. Some people told me that becoming a puella magi through pop culture witchcraft and astral projection was the only way you could be a magi. I hope any aspiring magi reading this will know they have a choice in the matter of how you become and what kind of magical hero you are. You don't even have to be a magical hero, you could be a familiar or a general magic user. You can be whatever you want. We don't think of things as "impossible" here.

What is a magical hero?

Magical heros are kind of like superheros, but magical, and usually defeat enemies with the power of friendship! Or something along those lines. There are so many kinds of magical heros. The only real things that are required to be one is to help people and use magic.

Why you would become a magical hero

There are many reasons someone may want to become a magical hero. From wanting to save the world, to needing a job, to just wanting to be cute and magical, all reasons are equally good! For some people, they may not have ever thought about it before a familiar asked them. In that case, you should take your time to make sure it's something you really want to and can do.

Responsibilities of a magical hero

This can depend entirely on what you script. Being a magical hero can be stressful, but it doesn't have to be. Even without choosing a concept like puella magi or mahou shojou site without changes, you'll still have to make time for it outside of school/work, friends, children or siblings, and your free time. There may be times where you have to leave due to an enemy, or where you get injured, or where something happens that you can't tell anyone about without revealing your magical status. It's very important to be sure magical duties will not hurt you. You can't help anyone if you yourself are hurt.

Scripting

Scripting is basically planning. It's a lot like scripting for shifting, but instead of shifting to other realities, it is just for changing this reality, like manifestation. Scripting is not required at all if you don't want to, it just helps get your thoughts together of how you want your journey to go. Common things you could script are your concept, your familiar, your outfit, your magic, and enemies. You could script whatever you want. For example, if you have a puella magi concept, you could script out witches. It isn't "cheating" to do so. Do what you want, and don't do something just because everyone else is doing it or because you think there's only one way to do things.

Methods

Currently, I only know of two methods, manifestation, and being chosen by a familiar. Manifestation is the most common method I see. It involves scripting, listening to subliminals, and basically seeking out a familiar or magical item to transform you into a magical hero. Being chosen is one I haven't seen as much. It involves a familiar choosing you to be a magical hero and giving you the supplies to do so. It can also involve finding a magical item that transforms you into a magical hero.

The four shift phases

There are four shift phases in becoming a magical girl. These phases are similar to the shift phases therians and otherkins go through, but they are more of a progress for us than shifts that come and go. The phases are as follows: 1. Fantasy shift, which means you are scripting and planning out what's going to happen on your magical journey. 2. Mental shift, which is when you mentally feel like a magical girl. You may feel like you are magic already, or you may feel an urge to help people. 3. Phantom shift, which means you will feel phantom feelings of your magical self. If you have wings, you will feel your wings in this phase. 4. Physical shift or astral shift depending on the magi. This is when you are a full magical hero and can fight enemies, help people, and use magic!

I haven't been keeping up with my magical duties well, but they seem to come around often enough. I think it also depends on how far your territory is/how far you patrol. I used to patrol around my neighborhood, but I found 3 witches at my school, and I found a witch in another building I went to. From what I've heard, it's closest to 1 witch a week, but I've been able to find them whenever I looked, though I don't look often enough.
