But slowly he grew soft for the mer. Dani struggles to speak human language so she doesn't fully understand what the two humans talk about all she knows is she likes the tiny one. He gives her extra food and is obviously a child.

I think she eventually finds out she can turn her tail into legs when she gets wet. So she explored the house (very nude might I add). Her hair is in knots from the abuse and lack of care.

At some point she leaves the house and finds herself on mainland. She is found by the farmers. By now she understands most of the human language but she can't speak it
