I don't know if to continue or to rail through it for I know I got talents but is it enough? Doesn't luck matter? Doesn't money matter? Of course it does! It's not just the societal norms but also a criteria for a good and well acknowledged life. I hate how's the world running now but I don't even know if I'm right. In this world, who knows what's right and what is not? In this world, who knows what's good or bad for them. In someway or the other everyone relates to each other but yet we don't like others. In someway, we're all the same. Selfish. Selfish as in not ruin the whole world selfish but haven't we in some way messed up things without thinking or giving a second chance or showing kindness to others as well as ourselves? It's crazy how we run our minds. It's just a whole other world in there but it's almost the same compared to the outer one. Don't take this rant seriously but it's good to free up the inner world as to change the outer world. If not in a large scale, just the peace and quiet of your surroundings isnt enough for you lead the life you've dreamt of? there is something that is so genuinely fucking heartbreaking to me about aled drifting away from charlie and tao (and the rest of the paris gang) post-heartstopper and pre-radio silence.

to the point where they're not even considered at all as a part of his support system.

they didn't fight but they just... drifted. did aled spend their last year at truham apart from charlie and tao, alone?? i guess everyone else paired off with one another except him and sahar, so I suppose they got left behind?? I need answers and details, I just keep thinking about how this happened and it makes me so sad because, realistically, this is how a lot of friendships end. it hits so hard because it's happened to most. but you just wouldn't expect it to happen to this group, y'know?

they seem close now (by now I mean in terms of heartstopper), which is near the end of their second term of year 11 at truham (we know because charlie's birthday has already passed).

i'm assuming they begin really drifting over the summer, which is when carys leaves. i'm assuming this because it makes sense that aled would begin shutting down and shutting people out at this point. they're not seeing each other every day over the summer anyways, so it makes it even easier for them to just spiral alone. maybe they still hang out a bit during year 12, but by the time radio silence begins at the end of year 12, they have stopped hanging out and probably only talk in classes.

I want to talk about how the first time I watched Heartstopper I kept expecting terrible things to happen. (Please note, I had not read the comic yet.)

Charlie has a crush on the star rugby player? Oh no. He's gonna get fucked over so hard. Plz be careful Charlie. (Channeling my inner Tao here I guess.)

Ben is a dick? Oh no, Charlie's going to keep going back to him anyway, isn't he? Are we going to have to deal with this through the whole show?

Nick likes Charlie? Oh no, they aren't going to talk about it because ~reasons~.

Harry shoves Nick at Tara and Charlie disappears? Oh no, they aren't going to talk about it...wait, they are? Where's the catch?

Ben appears in the hallway...Oh god, is Charlie going to end up going back to him??

Charlie and Nick kiss, then Nick runs off? I'm just gonna brace myself for an unnecessarily angst-ridden misunderstandings plot arch.

Nick asks Charlie to keep things a secret? Insert accidental outings and gossip cycles here, I guess.

Tara is having a hard time being out? Braced myself for an entire arch where she blames Darcy and their relationship is on the rocks for the rest of the show.

Bullies after Charlie? Fully expected Nick to stand by and wring his hands and then make excuses.

Imogen asks Nick out and he says yes? Guess it's time to deal with an excruciatingly dramatic love triangle.

And it isn't just the bad stuff. I also fully expected Nick to take off across that rugby field and drop Charlie into a full on movie star kiss in front of the entire school at the end. While I admit that would have been very satisfying, it really didn't suit their characters at all....and yet. When I think back, I really expected it for a second.

Anyway, I think the fact that I expected these things to happen is actually more important than the fact that they didn't, because my expectations didn't come out of nowhere. They developed because that's how TV is usually written these days and that's...honestly that's really fucking weird. (If you think about it, even the sparks of romances in Stranger Things have really unnecessary levels of would you please just fucking talk worked into them.)

It's especially weird now, because this show proves that you don't NEED contrived drama to tell a really good story.

I hope we see more stuff like this, queer focused or not.
