My wonderful husband's eyes are worthy of getting lost in over and over.

Yes, in the light they are warm cinnamon and caramelized honey.

But in the shaded comfort of our canopy bed? They are dark and longing. Beautiful, deep eyes that hold obsidian secrets of decadent love. The tones of warm brown still coming through them softly and giving those dark eyes a gentleness that looks the way a gentle caress feels.

I've seen them draped in the darkness of a cold morning, misty from tears at watching me leave. I've seen them tired at night, sleep making heavy lids flutter. I've seen them blown wide in surprise at him having been grabbed around the waist by me. I've seen them pinched at the corners as laughter rolls freely from his chest.

I've seen them in so many ways, yet I yearn to see them always and forever more. To burn the details of each into my memory, painting each variation with painstaking detail into my mind over and over. Because whether they are lit and warm, or shaded and dark pools of obsidian, they hold so much beauty and kindness within them.

They drag you in either way, be it with the comfort of warmth, or with the alluring mystery of dark and shadowed tones.
