Instead of giving us new information on Castle of Dreaming Books, he announced yet another book that was on nobody's radars.

i feel like millions of English-speaking contemporary romance writers struggle with fleshing out strong and convincing romantic relationships in their works while the craziest, most serious and reckless magnetic 'love-and-affection' magic was accidentally assigned to a couple of barely humanoid creatures in a whimsical fantasy/dark fairy tale book written by a reclusive German author

This is hildegunst von mythenmetz, a known Zamonian writer!! Basically, i wanted to redesign the books by hildegunst von mythenmetz Walter Moers in my style for uni....and these were the skecthes i did but to be fair i just wanted to draw more of Moerses characters xd

Ive known these books for a long time and its such a shame so little people know about them! Theyre mostly popular in germany and sadly they stopped translating them... Im not sure how i can sell you this series but City of Dreaming Books is great, it reminds me of grimms fairy tales but theyre humoristic as well, and moers did the illustrations for it himself... Recently a visual novel of the book i mentioned came out and its looking real pretty as well (also the books mostly feature non human characters which is cool for me i like creatures)

Anyways so I read all the Zamonien books like 5 years ago and back then I wasn't as good at art as now so with the brain rot back I might be doing some fanart and I'm strating with Hildegunst of course because how else

So, a new Zamonia book was announced on december 19th (I only noticed now #fakefan) titled "Das Eichhörnchen, das rückwärts leben wollte" (translated "The squirrel that wanted to live backwards"), a collection of 20 short stories by Mythenmetz.

ngl lads, I'm tired...

Moers has no concept of scale in his novels, be it with regards to time or space, but to that i say:

we need to appreciate the maximalist slay he put out there. a giant that's one hundred kilometers tall. an insanely big continent smacked right in the middle of the atlantic that's way too big to fit in there. mountains and buildings that should be poking out of the atmosphere, and ridiculously long-lived species

I don't know if Rumo is tiny or if Ticktack is just a Huge As Fuck guy? And Ticktack is decisively human as well, giving HUGE Doctor Doom vibes? This is clearly meant to be the final fight between them in the Theatre of Beautiful Death with the sparks and the blue rain, but it also looks like a meadow on the ground with some volcanoes in the background?

And while I have questions, I also have a huge amount of respect for this, even though the original cover and all versions with Moers's art are perfect to me.

I'm currently rereading Rumo, I'm in the first half, and Dr. Kolibril having an actual hummingbird-inspired design (get it cuz kolibri hahaha) was a concept that suddenly would not leave my mind

also. wild part in Smeik's character is the fact that he is like. an actual war criminal. His whole dark backstory he feels ashamed of, it's not just any murder or arson. This dude is responsible for a whole ass massacre in the Lindworm Castle and never got caught or punished by law LMFAOOO (if you don't count spending several years stuck in a pool in the Demonocle island)

after like 6 months i should probably make an about page but really, all y'all need to know is that i need more zamonian lesbians and ladies in general, love friftar and gornab but would also push them into a bottomless pit if the chance was given and have tons of zamonia-related drafts on my twitter which i never post bc only i find them funny or understand them

New Walter Moers Zamonia novel arrived yesterday

It's over 600 pages with lots of great drawings

It's a Mythenmetz (Yarnspinner) novel, but since it's not the sequel to the Buchhaim books I'm looking forward to find out how it ties in.

Thinking about how the Hellings are arguably the most human-adjacent group native to Zamonia when it comes to appearances (although with stereotypical demonic features and grotesque in a very Moersian way) and how this plays onto the evils humanity is capable of such as extreme cruelty, voyeuristic bloodlust, and egocentrism that ignores all suffering until you yourself are affected
