'Tis Another Stray Kids Story.
'Tis another Stray Kids Story.
It's sad at the start but soon gets cheery
The MC is named Lang Sinjoon and has a sister named Lang Minjoon.
Sinjoon is in the middle like he's younger than chan but older than I.N. so he's 21 like Hyunjin and Changbin.
During the intermission where we took a moment to say some things and just talk to the Stays, out of the corner of my eye I see someone waving, I look over and see my little sister. I wonder what she's doing here? I wave back to her and smile, Chan soon saying to enjoy the rest of the show.
`````
The first thing I see walking off stage is my sister. She runs up to me and hugs me. I laugh, she's a big fan and not just because I'm in the group. "Hey, Lai, what are you doing here?" "I had to get my mind off something." She says...rather sadly. "Lai, what's wrong?" "Um, nothing, Joonie Oppa, I'm kinda over it now anyway. I think I'm gonna go say hi to Felix." I'm skeptical of her sadness but laugh when she mentions Felix because they recently became friends.
Soon our manager came up to me and handed me a phone, my phone, and my mom was calling. "It's been ringing for a while now, I told her the first time to call you back in a moment." I nod and take the phone and answered it.
"Hello, mama?" I greet her in Japanese since half of the family is from there and is more comfortable with that language. "Sinjoon, How was your concert?" "It was good, mom. Are you okay? It sounds like you've been crying." I hear her take a deep breath and another sob comes out. "Mom? Why are you crying? What happened?" I start to freak out and I look over to see the boys looking at me along with Lai who looks guilty and hiding behind Felix. "Your Yang Hyung passed away, Joonie. We don't know how yet but we will soon. I know you just had a fun time and I'm sorry to ruin it. I have to go comfort your father. I'm so sorry, Lang." The line beeps when she hangs up and I'm still staring at the wall in front of me. I take the phone away from my ear.
Yang was one of my top supporters when I said I wanted to be a singer and performer. When he heard I was in stray kids he had mom and dad send me snacks and stuff for me to share from Canada as a congratulations gift along with his favorite bracelet. It was finally all processed and I was brought back to reality by I.N. "Lang Hyung?" I inhale and let out a choked sob as my knees buckle and I fall to the ground. "Lang..." I hear someone call out concerned but I'm too lost in my thoughts.
I bring my hand up to muffle my crying with the back of it and my left hand is gripped onto someone's shirt. I move to wrap my free arm around the person's neck and feel something soft. It has to be Lai because for this concert we all wore leather jackets. I grip onto her sweater and she hugs me tighter. There's too much going on in my head, I can't stop crying, I can't breathe...
I let go of Lai and stand, I quickly make my way to the dressing room we got ready in, luckily it was empty. I shut the door and let out a sob. I keep repeating the same thing 'He can't be gone...' 'Yannie still here...' 'This isn't real...' as I pace.
I was crying and muttering I didn't hear anyone coming in before I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turn to see Chan Hyung. The look on his face, Concerned and caring, Lai must've told. "Chan..." He shook his head and brought me into a hug and I finally let out my cries. "He-He's gone Channie." I cry out. He doesn't say anything, probably not knowing what to say but just letting me get it out.
"I was going to say, it's going to be okay, but that's of course not helpful." I chuckle through my cries. "In my opinion, that's all someone can say in this situation." "Did Lai tell you?" "No, the manager did. Lai tried to but she felt bad for not telling you when she saw you. They're trying to calm her down."
I nod on his shoulder, my crying had almost come to an end but I didn't want to let go of him yet. I loosen my grip around his neck and sigh. "Thank you, Hyung." He hums. "For what?" "Being so..." I pulled away from him and looked at him. He reached up and wiped my face with his shirt sleeve under his jacket, I chuckle. "For being you and so caring and just...ugh! You!" Chan laughs at my explanation "I think I get it. Thank you." "You remind me so much of Yannie and that's how I got through my homesickness." "Is that why you only come to me when you're having a bad day?" I nod and hug him. "Wow, Now I feel even more like a big brother." I laugh and pull away. "I wanna go see the others." "Are you sure?" "Or they can come to me, either one."
Chan walks out with me and we see the others waiting outside the room. "Joonie Hyung, are you okay?" I.N. asked first and came up to me. "Yeah, I'm okay." "Joon, I'm sorry for not telling you why I was here. You were having so much fun with your friends and I didn't want to ruin it." I hug her so she stops crying. "It's okay, Lai." He relaxes and hugs me back. "Now, what are you doing in Korea?" I ask as I pull away. "I came to see you in concert. You were so good, Joon Oppa." "Okay, I know you're taking Korean classes but calm down with the honorifics." Lai shyly laughs and I tickle her side. "Mom and Dad flew me out here so I could come to see you and the guys. She said to just contact her when I want to come home." "Where are you staying?" "A hotel not that far from here."
Han spoke before me. "That's not right, you should stay with your Oppa." "Wait, but isn't that in the dorms..." I could tell she was holding back her excitement. "Yep, you are the only lucky Stay that gets to be with Stray Kids," Chan says and she squeals. "That's so awesome!"
My Only Hyung…
imma make myself sad but i’ll try to end this with comfort cause I just can’t make hurt/no comfort, it hurts my precious heart much to not finish without comfort. it’s also my first time writing so much detail, got carried away at the end.
[How did i just now notice the the ‘read more’ thing was on mobile?!]
Listening to the music, the giddy feeling in his stomach took over Blue’s entire body as he jumped and squealed.
He was currently listening to his first ever album, having only published single songs, with his best friend and partner, Chan.
Happy tears threatened to fall as he settled down and wrapped his arms around the other with a chuckle. “I did it.” He murmured into the others shoulder and tightened his hold. “You did, jagi. I’m so proud.” “Thank you.” He let’s out with a laugh and pulls back, placing a small peck on the other temple.
“Thank you for helping me write my title track.” He said with a sigh. “Plus being in my first duet.” He added with a shy laugh. “You’re welcome, it sounds better then I could’ve imagined. So good!” “May I show it to the boys?” “Of course! They’ve been just as excited as me.” Blue was overwhelmed, smiling like a dork and he couldn’t resist as he leaned forward, all his feelings going into a strong, sweet kiss given to the other.
Pulling back, he placed his forehead on Chan’s and smiled. So happy at where he’s at in life.
“Thank you so much, Chrissy.” “You’re very welcome, Shawnie.”
Jolting awake, Blue looks at his surroundings. He first noticed his manager in front of him, then out the window he sees his destination.
“Morning sleeping beauty.” A small smile graces his face as his manager moves out from his personal bubble. “Ready?” With a groan and a small stretch, he puts his sunglasses on and nods. “I guess.”
As he gets out of the van, he hangs his head down, a few fans gather near the vehicle as he quickly follows his bodyguard inside the venue.
Blue has been asked to perform to start off a k-pop award ceremony. He was glad to be the opening number but when he eventually saw the layout of performances, his mood flipped completely.
Stray Kids was on the list, the third performance of the evening. He should be excited, possibly getting to see his old friends again after two years but he’s nervous.
“W-Would I be able to see him again?” He asked his manager as they looked over the list. “Probably not. They got their own stuff to do tonight.” He replied, missing the part where Blue said ‘him’
His thought were cut off when he was lead to a room, his room for the evening.
“So, What song were you thinking of doing tonight? You said you’d get back to me on that.” His manager asked him as he put his bag on the couch. “I…” He hasn’t thought of that at all. “You haven’t decided?” The other asked again. “N-no, I have, I just…” He stared at the elder for a moment before mentally saying ‘Screw it!’ and answering. “The title track of my first album.”
The manager looked at him with a tilted head and a raised brow. “How come?” “Uh…” Because he’ll be there “Old times sake? It’s my most popular one, even today.” His manager accepted his excuse and nods. “Okay. I’ll let them know while you get ready.”
After he left and closed the door, Shawn sighed and sat in the makeup chair. None of his Makeup or styling staff were there yet so he relaxed and stared at the wall in front of him, thinking of nothing and everything from if he needed a quick snack to his choreography.
The title track didn’t have any dancing to start with until he saw a Live of Hyunjin free styling to his song, proceeding to go to the others and propose if they’d like to help him make a dance for it, happily agreeing.
Then it hit him like a bus. They would be in the audience, he’s performing a song co-written and choreographed by one of the best groups he’s befriended. He quickly snapped out of his zone and grabbed his phone, texting his manager.
Shawn: I want the song to be announced differently
Manager: What do you mean?
S: I want the title to be announced as a different name.
M: . . .
M: That can be done. What is the new name?
S: Stray Away
M: You sure?
S: Yes.
Shawn knew that the new title would be recognized.
—-
He stared at the managers in front of him, mouth agape and tears gathering in his eyes.
“W-We have to split? Th-that’s not fair!” “Your fames are growing and we’re not sure if your relationship can be hidden any longer. We see how connected you are but-“ Shawn’s manager looked at Chan’s then back to him. “We’re sorry.” They give a genuine look of apology then step out so they can process.
“Th-They want- break up? I-I c-can’t- I don’t-“ His hands reached up to his hair as Chan wrapped his arms around him, trying to stop the upcoming panic attack. “Hey, Hey.” Shawn wrapped his arms around the younger and held tightly as he buried his face in the others neck.
“I can’t.” He choked out, tightening his hold and fisting the others hoodie. “I can’t either but we have to.” He whispered.
They stood there in each others arms for what seemed like forever. “C-can’t we just say we did but not actually split?” “They’d find out somehow, Shawnie.” “I can’t. It feels so wrong. I-I can’t live without you, jagi, I just can’t.”
“We can do it. Just, when we do, promise me one thing.” Shawn pulled back and placed his hands on the others face, Chan leaning into it while leaning up and forward to rest his forehead on Shawn’s, his own hands raising to rest on Shawn’s “Anything, Jagi.”
“Don’t stray away from me and the boys.”
—-
He regrets leaving them behind but he still texts them.
Eventually his makeup and stylist arrived and got him ready. They styled him with blues, whites, and a little black.
“Real quick, gotta tell you something.” His manager said while slowing them down on the way to the stage. “While you were getting ready, I managed to find their manager.” He was confused but the other kept going, “We got to talking and eventually that lead to us being on a call with Jyp along with the venue leader.” His eyes widen, mouth falling open slightly. “We talked about nothing bad, i promise. We discussed two things with him and the leader, one being about you and the boys, specifically Chan but all of them were-“ “Blue, you’re up now!!” Someone yelled and he panicked.
“W-what’s the second thing?” He tried to get the answer but he was being pulled away from his manager and over to the stage. “You’ll see!! Don’t worry!!”
He was confused on what that meant but proceeded up the stairs, got help with situating his mic pack, and mentally prepared himself since he’s performing this song as a solo for the first time since the promotions of it.
When the lights dimmed after he was announced, he walked to his place and got set.
The music started and he got lost in his own world. Doing the moves beautifully and smoothly while singing.
After a move of reaching towards the ceiling, preparing to sing the other part of the duet, he goes to turn back and was expecting to ghost a hand on a backup dancers face when he first saw the dancer not wearing the face piece he himself chose for the song.
Locking eyes with the dancer, his singing faulted slightly before his line was over and the other started singing his part.
He stood there, shocked about what was happening at the moment that he was almost late on his line. His brain caught up to him as he began singing again with the other. He tried to look away, tried to be professional, tried to get back to the dancing but not even Chan was pulling away, subtly leaning closer into the hand still hovering, Shawn immediately thumbing over Chan’s cheek. They just sang, in their own little bubble until it ended and clapping snapped him out of his trance.
He smiled and bowed with Chan before walking off stage with him.
They barely made it out of the way of the stage stairs before Shawn engulfed the other in a hug, arms tightly wrapped around the shorter as his face is in his shoulder. Chan accepting it immediately, wrapping his arms around Shawn’s neck and burying his face in the soloists neck.
They stood there together for a few minutes before Shawn’s manager cleared his throat. They pulled away but the soloist kept his arms around the other. “So you told him?” Chan’s manager asks, confusion taking over the silver headed male. “No, he was being pulled to stage before I could.” “W-Was this what you planned with the venue leader?” “Yeah. How’d you like it?” “I-I was shocked. M-Maybe cause i haven’t seen him in person for two years.”
“Glad to see you liked the surprise.” His manager said, pointing out the arms still wrapped around Chan making the other pull away from out of embarrassment.
“What was the other thing? With JYP?” “Well, His members, over the years, have noticed a bit of a drop in his personality since that day we talked to you two and they voiced they’re concerns. Your staff had also noticed a shift in you and told me about it.” He explained. “We’ve been talking about it since about two weeks after you two, uh, split up. We’ve been trying to find ways to still have you two be together seeing as both of you are apart of the others personality, each others other half, inspiration, all that.”
Chan’s manager then spoke. “We talked to Chan recently after, unfortunately, months and months of talking with JYP and figuring stuff out. After talking, Chan proposed to opening a spot in Stray Kids.” Shawn’s eyes widen as the pieces click. Shawn loves being a soloist but he’s also talked in the past about wanting to be in a group, to both Chan and his manager.
“R-Really?” Chan nods. “The boys miss you, I’d also love to have my boyfriend with me all the time.” The soloists breath hitched before turning to his manager. “But-“ “You’ll be integrated into a group known for a lot of physical affection and playful interactions. Fans will just think you’re being playful with Chan, only if you play along with the others to not make it suspicious.”
He nods excitedly with a smile. “Y-Yeah, of course.” “So, Do you want to be a Stray Kid?” Chan asked and Shawn turns towards him, taking the formers left hand into his right, his left hand raising to Chan’s face as he leans in, giving the other a heart fluttering kiss that felt like their first.
If they could stay like that for longer, they would. Chan missing the way the older held him gently but tightly like he might disappear and his soft but slight chapped lips from his bad habit of biting. Shawn missed holding the other along with his soft, full lips.
It was only half a minute before he pulled back and chuckled with a sigh.
“You’ll have a hyung in your group now.” Chan sighed dreamily as he leaned more into the other and giggled, a noise Shawn was happy to hear again.
“My only Hyung.”
An Au where soulmates are attached but physically so they get one another’s scars or injuries with more amount of pain then when it was given.
Like if A got a cut, B would get the same cut but with more pain then when A got it.
Kai opened the door at ass crack in the night, although he was already awake icing a new bruise on his leg, glaring at who was pounding at the door.
“I swear to god, you wake Minho up, i’m gonna-“ Juyo stood on the other side of the door instead of Hyunjin like usual, arms crossing as he glared at the older. “Juyo, why are you here?!” He whispered and hesitantly pulled him into the dorm.
Juyo was- Is Felix’s partner. The kids weren’t as shocked as Felix thought they would be when he said he had a boyfriend after the dating ban.
“I came to get Felix.” “Why? You shouldn’t even be here.” “Why? The dating ban is over right? That’s what Felix said.” “Well, yes, but he doesn’t want to out what his preferences in a partner is yet. He has already announced that he has a partner though.” “So, he doesn’t want his fans to know he’s gay?” “Where do you want to take him. Wait, what am I saying? It’s three am, you can’t take him anywhere.”
“Kai, we’re trying to sleep!” I turn, getting ready to apologize to Minho when I see Felix in a hoodie and oversized pj pants…he has my clothes again.
“What are you wearing?” “Pajamas. Juyo what’s wrong?” “I’m here for you. Y’know, three am park sneak out.”
Felix was too late in shutting Juyo up and cringed, hiding his face in his hands. “Lee Yongbok, I swear if you have snuck out before I will not hesitate to bring Chan into this.” “No! Kai, please! I’m sorry.” “Really?” “J-Just, Can I go just this last time?” He really shouldn’t but he couldn’t resist the shine in Felix’s eyes.
“One more time. This is it, got it Lix?” He nods and slides his shoes on and leaves with a hat in hand.
He stares at the door until a groggy voice made him jump. “You let him go, didn’t you?” He turns to find a sleepy Minho, his hair mussed up. “Y-yeah.” “When are you gonna tell Chan? Or better yet, JYP?” “I can’t do that to Felix…” “Kai it’s even worse that your not doing anything to save-“
Suddenly Kai is holding the side of his face with a groan and then falling to the floor with a pained yelp grabbing his stomach. “Not again…” He rasps. “Hyung, what’s going on?” Han comes out and rushes over when he sees one male on the floor and the other rubbing his back.
“Whoever my soulmate is with is either into boxing, likes getting into fights, or has an abusive partner…” Kai mumbled as he staggered up to his elbows and knees.
When he looked up, Han gasps as he reaches up and soft touched the side of his face. “You’re not kidding.” “I was icing my leg before Juyo came over cause of a bruise on my leg.”
“F-Felix had a bruise on his leg…he said he slipped on a stair case after practice one day.” Jeongin mutters as he shuffles in with an ice pack.
Kai held it to his face as he lifted up his shirt, a light bruise already starting to form. “I feel bad for them. I want to save them.” “You don’t know who they are.” “Judging by the fact I literally had to opted out of a Studio Shoom filming a couple weeks ago because I could barely get out of bed with a giant bruise on my hip, i think I have at least a right to wanting to save them.”
Minho helped him stand and helped him put stuff on the bruise. He helped him into his bed since Kai asked and then left, saying he needed to use the bathroom but really he waited for Felix.
Minho made the connection a while ago that Felix was Kai’s Soulmate. He was gonna let them figure it out but after seeing Kai go through Felix’s pain, he was done with it. He let Kai be though, he’d tell him later.
When Felix returned an hour later with his hat over his eyes. “Yongbok.” He jumped and turned to the couch. “What is it with you guys using that name.”
“I know Juyo is hitting you and if it wasn’t so late, I would be going to JYP right now.” “How’d you know…?” He asks after a moment of silence. “You’re hurting Kai.”
Felix looks surprised and Minho finally sees the red mark on his cheek. He knew about two months after being with Juyo that he wasn’t Felix’s soulmate as the clumsy marks no long showed up on Juyo.
“I-It’s Kai?” “Yes. An hour ago, a few minutes after you left, Kai was grumbling to the ground holding his stomach.” “H-He could’ve had a cramp?” Minho glared at Felix, not approving the naivety and took a step towards the younger to pull up his hoodie. “M-Minho, what are you-“
He tried to step away but stopped when Minho got his hoodie out of his grasp and pulled it up. A red mark was already starting to bruise on Felix’s abdomen, the same place on Kai.
“Felix, get out of your head and dump Juyo.” “I can’t.” “YONGBOK! Get it through your thick skull!! You’re hurting a fellow member by not leaving him. Felix, don’t you remember?” He drops his hoodie and steps back. “What?” “Soulmates get almost twice the amount of pain from they’re other half. He crumbled to the ground.”
It hit Felix then. “I get it…” “Then fix it.” He went to walk back to his room to join Kai when Felix stopped him “I can’t. He-“ The brunette turned back and waited. “He what?” he asked when Felix didn’t reply.
“H-He threatened to out me. To Stay and the public. He wants everyone, the fans, to know that I’m taken but I-I’m not ready…”
Filler fic, I apologize. The others fics are coming in slow because I’ve hit a road block but i’ve started on Lee Knows and I’m coming up with fics for the others.
I swear, my first series fic will be done, I won’t be a writer who forgets their story. I’m hoping y’all enjoyed Chan’s chapter though, I am really proud of it.
Mrs. MinLee stared at her son who was face down in his pillow, refusing to get up when he has school in half an hour.
“Kai.” She said sternly. “You’re gonna be late, get up now.” She got a mumbled reply in return. “I’m good.” The woman sighs and turns when she hears her husband walk down the hall who stopped in place with wide eyes when he saw his wife’s stern face and crossed arms. “What’d i do now?”
She huffs and rolls her eyes. “Kai won’t get up.” “Ah, Schmettling, Doesn’t he have online classes?” “Aish, Gunther, you never listen. I’ve told you that his second semester is in person because he has traditional art classes.”
The younger male huffs, making his parents turn to him and he sits up. His mom sighs and her face turns into sympathy as she looks at her sons eyes. They’re still grey, almost black, almost…emotionless.
“Kai, your eyes.” His dad points out and Kai huffs out angrily. Besides the full color, his sclera was red, he’s been crying.
“Oh, son, I thought you got your colors?” “I-I thought I did to, Eomma…It went away last week…” “I knew that Thompson boy was bad.” “Appa-“ “Sorry, ehm, you need to get up and get to class.” “How can I do art classes without color? Come to think of it, no one in my classes doesn’t have their soulmate, pretty sure I’m the only one in existence to have their color taken away after a breakup…”
His mother sighed. He’s not wrong, even though you’ve lost your soulmate, you don’t loose all colors, they’re just duller and less bright till another is found but for Kai, it was rare where all his colors were taken, not just from his sight but for his eyes included. When his mom saw his eyes, she teared up a bit, excepting to see his blue eyes instead of grey.
“Well…maybe a classmate could be paired with you?” The male sighs and rubs his face. “I-I guess I could try…” “Good, your luckily Uni isn’t that far from home or you would be really late now, chop chop, let’s go.”
Kai stands in front of his classroom for a moment. He’s wearing his grey school hoodie under the school blazer he was sent before the semester started and navy pants he borrowed from a friend.
He had on sunglasses and he knew he’d have to take them off as his hand landed on the handle and pushed in. “Sorry that I’m late.” The teacher gave a soft smile and nods as Kai bows. “Actually…” The bell rang and the teacher smiled. “You’re right on time. I’m sorry, sir, but those won’t be allowed.” She said immediately and Kai sighs.
“Um, may i ask real quick what we’re doing today? I-I might need a guide…” “A guide? What do you mean?” “Uh-Um, W-Well my…my recent partner who I thought was my designated soulmate breakup with me recently…” “That shouldn’t be a problem, you’ll just see dull colors.” “W-well…” His hands shook slightly as he reached up and removed his glasses.
“Oh! How unique.” She said when she saw his eyes and the students gasped. “So…you can’t see any colors?” “Yeah…before this semester I did b-but i guess my connection to this person was…stronger so the effect was stronger…I-I don’t really know.” “Alright. Well, you can sit…” She looked around before seeing an empty spot.
“…next to my top student, Hyunjin. He can help you with colors.” Turning to the male, to Kai his hair looked white, making Kai assume he had a light hair color, his face was cute in Kai’s opinion and he held a soft expression as he waved, snapping Kai out of his zone as he walked over and sat next to him.
“Hi…” He heard a voice whisper as he was watching the teacher talk. “H-Hi…I-I’m sorry you have to help me…” “It’s okay. Gives me something to do.” “What do you mean?” He pulls out his phone under the table and taps on it before handing it over to Kai.
It was opened to a folder of artworks. Even without color, Kai found the pieces beautiful. “I paint with every free time I have, she even gives me some of the assignments ahead of time so I can do them and then turn them in.” “Wow…I need to find my new soulmate soon or I might end up failing this class…” “You’ll find them eventually.” “Wait…painting these…does that mean you have dull colors?” “Yeah…Your problem though is interesting, never heard of someone going back to no color.”
Kai sighs. “Yeah, it’s a bit strange.” The other male hums before speaking. “I-I’m sorry if this is too awkward but I hope you find someone too…only cause I think you have a nice eye color…” “Oh, your fine. Um, my mom says they’re blue.” Hyunjin looks down, what seems like shyness on his face as he answered back. “I like blue eyes…”
Kai throws the color strips away from him, it echoing in the empty studio he sat in on a stool in front of a blank canvas.
His guide in colors was going…good enough. Even if he couldn’t see them properly he still tried and the teacher actually like what he painted, but she may have curved the grade on pieces that don’t look…that good…but if she told him that who knows what would happen.
Kai puts his head in his hands and sighs, taking a moment to breath and remember what Hyunjin always told him.
“If you are ever overwhelmed, first take a breath and slow down. You won’t be able to remember things if your minds all jumbled.”
So that’s what Kai did, he took a deep breath then looked up and over the the splayed out stack of color samples. He noticed some came off the small metal rod and near the stack was the broken pin that holds the sheets in place.
Well, that’s what happens when this class has had a bunch of students but only one color sample stack.
He gets up and picks up the cards and the broken piece then looks around. He finds a box near the exit of the studio, deciding to put the cards in there so the cards are still available but the metal rod can get gotten rid of.
“Oh, hey.” He looks up and sees Hyunjin. “Hey! A-Are you okay? I-I haven’t seen you in a couple days.” “Yeah, I didn’t really tell anyone but one of my family members…passed away…I was at the service and healing of course.” “Aw, I’m so sorry.” “It’s okay, how have you been?” “Good…kind of struggling recently.” He mumbles as he looks down at the color cards again, rearranging them neatly before stepping beside Hyunjin to throw the trash away but then as he’s turning back, Hyunjin is a lot closer.
“W-What- Hyunjin?” “Oh, Sorry.” He took a small step back. “I can help you with the assignment until schools over.” “What if I…gave up?” Hyunjin immediately grabbed his elbow and pulled him back. “Excuse me?” Kai awkwardly looked down at this feet, shuffling between his left and right foot. “What if I…gave up…” “Take it back.” “Why should I?” Kai asked with furrowed brows as he lifted his head back to Hyunjin.
“I heard Mrs. Lang has been curving my grades of assignments that don’t look as good as they should be. Seeing no color is getting me pity that I don’t need.” “You’re still good.” “Am I?” “You are!” Kai pulled his arm away from Hyunjin and stepped back.
“Why were you really not here last week?” “I told you I was at a service-“ “Hyunjin, I’ve gotten to know your quirks the closer we’ve gotten, you’re lying…What were you doing?”
Hyunjin knew he was in trouble and he could see the look in Kai’s dark eyes. “Kai…” “Tell me.” “I-I…Mrs. Lee gave me permission to skip a week with no consequences…” “Why?” “To…” “To what?” “I-I can’t say-“ “Can’t say what Hyunjin! Just spit it out!!” “To make extra canvases for you!! She believes that you have potential but since you can’t see colors, you may not be able to do some of the assignments and she wants you to pass for future opportunities so I give canvases I made to Mrs. Lee so she can grade you. She must be curving them cause she knows your condition.”
“You made a deal with the principal?!” “I didn’t want to but-“ “You two don’t believe in me?? I thought principals were supposed to encourage students better? And you…my only friend this entire semester…you don’t- You don’t believe in me?” Hyunjin’s eyes widen and his mouth parts open. “No! I do!” “Then why did you do it? Why did you agree to replace my art?” He was silent, looking down at his feet. “Well?” “Cause I thought if we passed senior year together…we could go to the same college and…have a journey together…”
“A journey?” Kai asked and Hyunjin looks up again. “I-I got my color full color a week ago as well…when I got upset after dropping my fresh canvas.” Kai crossed his arms and his face softened.
Hyunjin and Kai were ‘studying’ in Mrs. Lee’s classroom, Hyunjin helping Kai with colors and Hyunjin finishing a canvas. When he was done, he got up to place it out of the way to dry when he tripped over the easel and lost his grip on the canvas.
It landed face down and normally Hyunjin doesn’t get upset over something like this but it was his most favorite piece, two figures just holding each other on a background with black, red, and a little white. He would say he doesn’t know who the two are but deep down he felt like it was him and Kai…
He started tearing up and Kai moved over to him quickly after the sound of the canvas hit the floor and he looked at the canvas then to the artist only to see him getting upset.
“Hey, Hey, Jinnie, it’s okay.” Kai said as he wrapped his arms around the male and hugged him. “It’s okay. What’s wrong? You usually brush off mistakes like this.”
Kai had pulled away and held his face in his hands and having him look into his dull eyes. Kai’s caring nature had Hyunjin feeling protected and suddenly his saturated world because brighter when he noticed…he loved his friend…
“I didn’t know how to tell you after I noticed your eyes were still dull and dark.” Now Kai was confused and shocked. Shocked because…Hyunjin liked him? and confused because he has grown to love Hyunjin too, that’s why he was so worried and more caring about the young male.
“But…I like you too…I-I still don’t have color…” Kai forgot that he was mad at Hyunjin and furrowed his brows. “What?” “I-I like you too…but I don’t know why I don’t have colors.” He looked at Hyunjin, into his eyes and waited for something to happen but nothing.
“Can…Can I try something? Maybe because I’ve already looked at someone and that relationship was really, I might need to do something…more this time.” “Y-Yeah.”
Kai stepped forward, hesitance physically visible as Hyunjin watched him with every step. “Um…Close your eyes.” “Why?” “For me? I’m slowly losing confidence.” Hyunjin nods softly and closes his eyes.
Kai now noticed how much shorter Hyunjin is, may be a couple inches but still. He places a shaky hand on the side of his face and tilts it up a little, he can feel and hear his breath hitch and he leans down the small amount before connecting his lips to Hyunjin’s.
He gasps, his hand coming up to hold Kai’s wrist as he processed what just happened before leaning in, taking a step and moving his free hand to hold Kai’s left arm as he got closer and Kai wrapped it around his waist.
After a moment, he went to pull away when Hyunjin moved his right arm around Kai’s neck and pulled him back in, his right arm going around his neck as well as Kai wrapped his other arm around Hyunjin’s waist and pulled him in a step closer.
Kai pulled back again, this time forcing Hyunjin to stay back with his arms and he laughs. “Are you going to open your eyes?” Hyunjin asked and Kai did that slowly, he didn’t expect that idea to work but when he opened his eyes slightly and saw strands of blonde hair framing his face that didn’t making it into the bun he put up and the males brown eyes which widened when Kai’s widen.
“Shit, your pretty.” Was the first thing Kai said before busting out into laughter and hiding his face in his shoulder. “Thank you, that was really sudden.” “I was taken by surprise. This is the first time I’m actually seeing you in color. If I didn’t react like that though I was gonna play dumb and say it didn’t work.” “There’s one flaw to the evil plan if you did do that.” “And what’s that?”
Hyunjin moved an arm from Kai’s shoulder and placed his hand on the side of Kai’s face, his thumb rubbing underneath the older males eye as Hyunjin smiled softly. “I would’ve noticed your eyes…damn…” “What?” Kai chuckles and opened his eyes again. “I really do like blue eyes.” He said before moving forward again to kiss Kai.
After defiance of wanting to split and the need to split, they carried on the rest of their day perfectly. They apologized to Mrs. Lee and Kai gladly made up the assignments that were ‘messed up’ as he put it so his now boyfriend didn’t feel guilty.
After the semester and the year ended, Kai’s Mom gave him permission to live in her fathers old house that was given to her after he passed where Kai immediately asked if Hyunjin wanted to live with him, he quickly said yes and talked to his own parents about it.
After moving a few boxes from each others homes, they lay on the empty living room floor, just staring at the ceiling. At some point while he was getting boxes from his house, Hyunjin hung up fairy light on the ceiling and it looked like stars.
“So…now that we graduated, what did your vision say we did next?” Hyunjin sighs softly before rolling to his side and wrapping his arms around his waist, Kai accepting it and wrapping his arms around him as Hyunjin tangled their legs. The floor was uncomfortable but they didn’t plan to get up.
“From what I remember…We applied to the same college…we also…” He stayed silently as he thought. “We got to a point where we sold our art to big names but before that we sold small prints to people who found us.” “You’re adorable.” He looks up quickly, being greeted by his sweet smile and soft eyes.
“W-What?” “You’re adorable.” Hyunjin whines before scooting up further to wrap his arms around Kai’s neck and bury his face in his shoulder. “What’s wrong?” His reply comes out mumbled and Kai has him repeat it with a smile. “I love you.” Kai squeezes his arms around the youngers waist, leaving a peck on his cheek. “I love you, too, Jinnie.”
They lay there for a moment more before Kai huffs. “The floor is starting to hurt, let’s move.” “But your bed is still at your parents house…” Hyunjin points out as he stands up.
“Shit….”
He scratches his neck and chuckles with a small smile. “Wanna meet my parents?” Hyunjin smiled, his eyes turning into crescents as he wraps his arms around Kai. “Yeah, only because we need a bed and your parents are closer to us.”
Kai smiles and they are walk out the small house.
They can’t wait to start their journey and get closer to one another.
