a muttered thanks
an attempt to hide the disgust on your face
an improvement from the ones before
that shoved my face in it
then threw me out
and you still look hungry

Chapter 63, Wei WuXian is asleep recovering from injury.

I always felt that every time Lan Wangji said “I am here”, Wei WuXian fell a little more in love.
Knowing that he’d definitely die, Wei Wuxian somehow grew calmer.
![W: The characters of [MDZS] all turned out into different adults, related to how they were raised by their parents. When it comes to blood relationships and family, how did you make use of them in your story?
MXTX: I believe the environment of a person they grew up in is a very important factor to a person. The happiness and sorrow of parents will directly impact on the growth of their children. The children would even reflect some of their parents traits. When you start to notice similarities between parents and children is when you start to believe in their bond as a family.
W: Some of the characters within the novel had quite a hard childhood. Jin Guangyao, Xue Yang and even Wei Wuxian. Some turned evil, while some stayed kind until the end. You could see traces of both of them within the work
MXTX: In fact, regarding their childhood. It is actually the last thing I consider. I always start to create a person by imagining their most glorious moment in their life. Then I start to add all sorts of life developments and use their childhood to wrap it up. Then I will create their parents to fill up the final gaps. Their personalities are created based upon the main character. For example, I first start with imagining what kind of person Wei Wuxian is, then I would think of what kind of parents would raise a child like Wei Wuxian. I use the personality of the main character to create the personality of their parents.
