In your memories, he would always be the same ten-year-old boy you first met at the school gate many years ago.

Still standing at the same height as yours, there was no need for you to tilt your head up to look at him then. Even though he would still find his way to ruffle your hair to make it clear that he was going to be way taller than you would be in the future.

In your memories, he is still the same thin figured boy you grew up with. The boy who barely cared about his messy hair, letting some fall over his face while the others were jutting up to various directions on the top of his head from the amount of time he had been ruffling them with his hands out of nerves.

He would still be the same boy you would find standing still with his eyes rounded wide in astonishment whenever he was curious or interested in something. Holding his hand made you feel like everything was right in the world and nothing could ever come between you to tear you both apart. For the beginning of your teenage years, he had been a huge part of it. And you had thought that he would become a part of so much more.

Until he wasn’t.

Sunday’s were likely your favorite day of the entire week.  It was the day you spent rejuvenating and, de-stressing from your usually long and arduous work weeks. Sundays involved sleeping in past 9am, freshly pressed coffee, TV reruns and, most importantly banana pancakes. There were many Sunday’s you spent indulging in these fluffy little bits of heaven by yourself but, today, you were joined by the only thing that could possibly make Sundays any better: your boyfriend Jungkook. Jungkook had been rehearsing into the early hours of the morning for the better part of the month and, this didn’t pair well with your own demanding career that kept you at meetings and conferences during most of your free time. However, this Sunday, the only tasks you were given was to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

“I feel like we could add a few more bananas.”   A sleepy, gravelly voice rumbles against your shoulder. Jungkook’s arms were wrapped around your waist, his chin resting on your shoulder as he watches you mix the batter.

“You already added two more when I wasn’t looking…” You retort, smirking as you use the spatula to scrap the batter down the side of the bowl. Jungkook snickers behind you, not denying your observation as he wraps his arms tighter around you.

After college starts, summer is no longer a relaxing season dedicated to lounging around and goofing off with friends. Unfortunately, now summers were filled with internships or temporary summer jobs. You got the short end of the stick though, as your summer was going to be filled with summer classes. Along with taking summer classes, you had to deal with the grueling heat. Walking back and forth from your classes to your dorm was quite an ordeal, as the sun drained you of all your energy. 

Your only solace of not going home was that you were close to your boyfriend, Jungkook. You guys started dating towards the end of the spring semester, so the relationship was somewhat new. He was nothing but incredibly sweet to you, and you honestly could not believe you were dating him. From what you observed, he was basically perfect. 

At first you thought he was a little shy, but when you got to know him, you soon realized he’s just a huge lovable dork. He loved gaming, and bragged about what his rank in League of Legends used to be (platinum, he was in the top 8% of all people who played). You tried to take him seriously, but you couldn’t help but laugh. You didn’t laugh because you were making fun of him, you laughed because he was just too cute. You adored the way his eyes twinkled when he talked about what he was passionate about. He would get lost in his own world and ramble on before he realized you were still there. At that point he would reach out and pull you into a hug and ask about your day.

Had Jungkook been here he would have been running the session seeing as he is next in line to be alpha of the pack. But he was miles away on the other side of the country. He has been for five years and truth be told you can’t even remember what his face looks like anymore.

With thoughts such as that the only accompaniment, you march along with as much energy you can muster at each step. The house comes into view. Once again with no other company but your own to entertain yourself you take a drip down memory lane. You remember the awe you first felt when Mr. Jeon brought you to the house. Your father had just passed away while on a drug raid. Mr. Jeon being his best friend brought you with him.
