She looked breathtaking. She wore a mermaid dress with a slit in the middle that hugged her body nicely. Jewelry adorned most of her hands, and her hair was in a sleek ponytail with a pink bow.

Sometimes, she wondered how Alvin was able to pull her.

It was prom night, and Alvin finally asked her out as his date. She wanted to make sure she looked amazing for him. She put on her best dress and styled her hair perfectly. She didn’t wear any makeup, except for lipstick and mascara. Once she looked in her mirror, she couldn’t help but smile. This night was going to be perfect.

It wasn’t a perfect night at all.

Alvin didn't pick her up.

He didn't accompany her to the prom.

He didn't talk to her at all.

She only saw him around, talking to girls who weren't her. All she did was watch, not even dance, just watch as the boy she had yearned for the whole year dropped her for nothing.

She was the prettiest girl with the worst date, and she hated it.

Instead of enjoying her night, she watched Alvin, watched as he enjoyed himself, as if he had forgotten about her entire existence and only saw the party ahead.

She watched until she couldn't anymore. She observed him for half an hour, drinking a fruity drink, before feeling her eyes burning, her chest aching, and her throat burning.

She was a miserable loser, crying over her date that dumped her.

She was in the bathroom, no one else there but a stoner who was too high to even see her walk in. And in the bathroom, she started bawling. The sink was running as she splashed her face or smacked herself trying to get rid of the tears.

She knew exactly why Alvin asked her out—because she was popular, and he knew about her feelings. He just wanted to play with her emotions. And he did so too well.

Sometimes she wondered why Alvin pulled her.
