Brain children that would send me into a nursing home
Amidst all the images coming out of palestine of death and destruction created by the zionist occupation, i think it is important that we take a moment to remember palestine as it was- seen and captured through the eyes of talented photographers like Shahed @shahednhall and remember exactly what was senselessly lost in the past few months.
This is Al-Azhar university, where Shahed used to study. She was an exemplary student, and used to get regularly invited by her teachers to give lectures.
Since the university was bombed and destroyed by the IOF, all she has left are these pictures. Even through all the violence and death around her though, she still makes sure to keep up with her studies through the university's online programme.
This is a shop Shahed had visited only some time before october. She told me it was run by an artist who painted these beautiful home items, and engraved them by hand with customers names. Shahed had photographed them because they were so eye-catching and beautiful, and had sent the woman her photos so she could use them to promote the shop.
Shahed has told me this shop isnt there any more. She is currently trying to get in touch with the woman who used to run this shop again, but shahed doesn't know if she is even alive or not.
Shahed has an eye for beauty in all things, and it shows in her work and in conversation. It has taken on a different meaning now when so much of everything she knows has been stolen by the occupation from her and other palestinians like her.
In her own words:
"As you know, I like to photograph a lot, everyone liked my photography. I was filming everything because a memory can never come back again. This sentence is not understood by many. I am happy because I photograph everything."
What had been a hobby of collecting moments for her has now become something of an archive of all the things in Palestine that have been lost to the zionist occupation.
Shahed's outlook on her photography tends to colour our conversation as well. She finds it is more productive to talk to me about her hope for a better future, rather than all the bleakness around her right now.
"Yes, because I see inside every picture of new hope, I feel a great motivation that I will survive to see that life is more beautiful than what I live at the moment. I seek to return to a life that is more beautiful than the one we live now, a very difficult life because it has turned black and white."
I don't know how anyone can look at her photos and think of anything but hope
The mainstream media in the west and elsewhere can lie all they like- but we will know always that palestine was and is a land full of beautiful people. Never forget that the death, illness and destruction in palestine today was something imposed upon them by the colonizers, and has been imposed upon them for decades.
Shahed doesn't like to share images of misery with me, but please remember that she and her family are suffering right now. The happy children in the pictures, her little sisters, are suffering from severe hepatitis and are no longer recieving treatment due to overcrowding at what hospitals are left in gaza. Shahed herself has been weak and ill for days, narrowly surviving multiple massacres in just the past few days while trying to get food for her family. They all got displaced just last week due to the intense bombing in khan younis, and in doing so have lost precious funds that could have gone into food and clean water. They are starving.
Shahed is only 21 years old but the responsibility of taking care of all 17 of her family members rests solely on her shoulders.
TIME IS RUNNING OUT. PLEASE HELP SHAHED EVACUATE HER FAMILY TO SAFETY.

Dear compassionate souls, I come to you with a heavy heart, burdened by our story, our lives shattered by the ongoing onslaught of violence in Gaza. Since the beginning of October we have been suffering from terrible conditions and difficulties. Living in Gaza is terrifying during these times, bombs are constantly falling and our lives are in danger. Our house was completely destroyed and we were forced us to move from khanyounis to el mawwasi with minimal personal belongings. I am Ahmed Al-Agha, 25 years old, a graduate of media and mass communication from Al-Azhar University in Gaza. I was a volunteer in the Public Relations Department at the University of Gaza. Due to the difficulty of jobs in the Gaza Strip, I had to register for a professional diploma in culinary arts, but I did not complete it due to the terrible war. After my father passed away in 2021, life pushed me to grow up early and take responsibility for my family, including my mother (samah), my brother(omar)and my three sisters,abla 20years old,yomna17years old and jody 9years old. I dream of owning a small restaurant in order to support my beautiful family. Allow me to introduce you to my family, the very core of my existence: Samah, my great mother, an Arabic language graduate, a strong, courageous, compassionate, and extremely generous mother. She loves her kitchen utensils more than anything else, and becomes very sad if a plate or cup breaks. Her main goal in life is to gain her mother’s approval and the happiness of her children in all possible ways and to do the impossible for them. Omar is an accounting graduate from Al-Aqsa University in Gaza. He is an ambitious young man with big dreams. He loves going out with his friends and driving cars. She studies English at Al-Aqsa University and dreams of becoming an English teacher, but her dream will not come true because her university was completely destroyed. Youmna is a wonderful girl, a student in the second year of secondary school. She has a leadership personality. She was a camp leader in the Association for Culture and Free Thought. She has a talent for drawing and participates in art exhibitions in her school and in civil society institutions. She loves drinking Nescafe and listening to music when she draws. She has courses in drawing. The characters: Her dream is to create her own art gallery and to study at the College of Fine Arts. Jody, my little sister, is 9 years old. She is smart and beautiful. She worked and dreams of becoming a model in the future and has the talent of acting. She participated in an advertisement for a bridal chalet and was the heroine of the advertisement. I felt very happy to participate in the advertisement. She suffered from severe psychological disorders at the beginning of the war after she saw several children dispersed as a result of the bombing of the house opposite ours. I try to maintain her psychological state by going together to the seashore and meeting her friends in the nearby tents and playing with them so that she is not distracted by the terrible news and scenes shown on the Internet. , the war has shattered our lives, leaving us without a safe haven or a place to call it home. We are human beings, just like you. We eat, drink, watch Tom and Jerry, love to travel, and love life . The only solution to save my family is to get them out of Gaza by paying an amount of 5,000 US dollars for each of the above-mentioned people to . Rebuilding Live: A Mother's Plea for Hope and Safety in Gaza🙏♥️
I'm Nour Alanqar, and reaching out to you during a time of unimaginable hardship. I am 26 years old, married to Ashraf Ismail, who is 32, and together we have three beautiful children: Hussein, 6, Rajaa, 5, and Youssef, just 10 months old. Our lives have been turned upside down by the devastating war in Gaza, and we desperately need your help.
• My daughter Rajaa is a radiant beam of sunshine, bringing boundless joy, warmth, and love to everyone she meets.
On a dark night at the beginning of the war, our area was subjected to massive bombing. The explosions reached our home, forcing us to flee into the night, running amidst periodic explosions and searching for survival. We made our way to southern Gaza by morning, seeking refuge in Rafah.
•This is our home, filled with our memories and moments of joy and happiness, now reduced to rubble. Its destruction shattered our hearts.
In Rafah, we found shelter in a crowded warehouse filled with strangers, all of us struggling to find basic necessities like food, water, safety, and cleanliness. Despite these challenges, we were again hit by direct bombardment. My husband was injured in the shoulder, and the scene around us was filled with blood and corpses. The cries of my children in those moments still echo in my head.
•A fragment of what it once was, and now, what it has become.
We moved several times to places described as safe, only to face new tragedies. During this period, my precious daughter Raja contracted hepatitis, adding to our suffering.
It was incredibly difficult for me to endure these disasters, especially as I was in the process of giving birth. Youssef was deprived of proper breastfeeding and the necessary nutrition for his age. Hussein's right to education and a safe childhood have been cruelly taken from him.
•My baby Youssef, whom I clung to throughout the war, running with him through the rubble of shattered homes to escape.
•At an age when Hussein should have been enjoying his childhood, all his rights were taken away from him.
Our situation is dire, and we need your support to rebuild our lives and provide a future for our children. Your kindness and generosity can make a profound difference. Your contributions will help us secure safe shelter, access to medical care, and the basic necessities of life.

Made a huskerdust fankid design, but of course immediately after I drew it I came up with some changes to make lol
I decided to post all the stages cause I like 'em. The "final" one still could use some polishing, but I'm kind of tired of working on this, so maybe some other time.
Lucky is a fluffy spider that mimics an animal. Originaly just a cat cause of Husk, but then I thought of a magician's bunny and a lucky rabbit's foot and so I put those spidery appendages on her head to look like bunny ears.
(I was thinking about those things spiders have near the mouth, like what Molly's bangs are based on. But now I think they look more like little spidy legs???)

I never know how to start talking about my ocs, so I think that I'm just gonna talk about them as if everyone already knows what I'm talking about???
Some concepts for this drawing, and I haven't designed the "guardian" angel yet at that point so I had to do that at the same time lol
(There aren't actually any "guardian" angels, instead they're called "watchers".)
Anyway, I'll have to simplify her significantly, 'couse she's supposed to be a common angel- the lowest rank. And as I started thinking of stronger angels I've realised that her initial design is too much.
Yeah she basically looks like Blue Diamond in some of these couse Blue was a huge inspiration. But mostly her look, couse they don't have a lot in common. Angel is more of a bright-eyed, youthfull idealist. She's very new to her job in comperison to most other watchers.
