Reader had trouble brainstorming what to get Bucky for Christmas, thinking hard about it- it dawns on her. What something he Always uses?
Reading his book, he notices someone walking toward him. It’s them. They’re approaching with a smile but they look a little nervous. “Hey,” they say simultaneously. Smiling wider looking away for a moment, she thinks about why she’s there in the first place.
“Oh uh, so I got you these- for Christmas,” she says holding out a present. He looks at the gift then back at her,(also taking a mental note of the charismatic wrapping paper) curious. He accepts her gift with a warm “Thank you,”.
Feeling that the material is soft through the paper, he gets more intrigued. Jokingly shaking the gift near his ear, another smile blooms from their lips. A throaty laugh escapes as his adam’s apple bobs up and down. Carefully releasing the gift from the wrapping paper, his eyes brighten at the pair of gloves in his hand. He beams at her, everyone else discreetly or openly paying attention to them. Warm smiles, warm drinks and warm hearts everywhere.
He asks “Can I?” motioning a hug with his arms. Nodding and opening welcome arms, he stands up not minding the wrapping paper that falls off his lap. Embracing each other in a hug, eyes closed and satisfied hums escaping each other. They part and he graces her a soft warm “Thank you,” Responding with “Anytime,” and flashing an even bigger smile at him, he can’t help but to wrap her in another hug. Noticing his friends looking on, he parts and excitedly expresses, “I GOT GLOVES!!” raising both arms in the air. Waving his gloves in his hand, feeling the texture of them.
“Those aren’t all of them, I made you a few pairs too. But it’s for when it’s cold and you want something that feels comfortable around both hands. So in each pair, there’s a glove that has a layer of leather on the inside and fuzz on the outside. And there are others that’s just leather. It took a while to learn and figure out- but I did it!” She explains proud and excited. His eyes grew big when he heard that she made them, but even bigger when he learned that she took the time to learn how to make something as simple as a gift for him?!
‘Oh gosh, how do I have friends as good as these? He wonders. “Thank you so much, this means a lot.” he explains.
Natasha puts her weight on one leg and leans over to Rogers. “I can see them dating, then married.” Steve protests; “Shh, let them be young first.” he says with his finger over his lips.
Fake crying, she says “They grow up so fast.” Steve joins in on the fake crying, laying his head on her shoulder.

Another mass shooting in America, so where's this "good guy with a gun" that conservatives love to screech about whenever we bring up gun control?
A gunman wearing military gear and livestreaming with a helmet camera opened fire with a rifle at a Buffalo, New York, supermarket in what authorities described as “racially motived violent extremism,” killing 10 people and wounding three others Saturday before he surrendered, authorities said.
Police officials said the gunman, who also wore body armor in addition to military-style clothing, pulled up in the afternoon and opened fire amid shoppers at a Tops Friendly Market, the shooting streamed via a camera affixed to the man’s helmet.
“He exited his vehicle. He was very heavily armed. He had tactical gear. He had a tactical helmet on. He had a camera that he was livestreaming what he was doing,” city Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said at a news conference afterward.
Gramaglia said the gunman initially shot four people outside the store, three fatally. Inside the store, a security guard who was a retired Buffalo police officer fired multiple shots at the gunman and struck him, but the bullet hit the gunman’s bulletproof vest and had no effect, Gramaglia added. The Commissioner said the gunman then killed the security guard.
Video also captured the suspect as he walked into the supermarket where he shot several other victims inside, according to authorities.
Police said 11 of the victims were Black and two are white. The supermarket is in a predominantly Black neighborhood a few miles (kilometers) north of downtown Buffalo.
“This is the worst nightmare that any community can face, and we are hurting and we are seething right now,” Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said at the news conference. “The depth of pain that families are feeling and that all of us are feeling right now cannot even be explained.”
Gramaglia said Buffalo police entered the store and confronted the gunman in the vestibule.
“At that point the suspect put the gun to his own neck. Buffalo police personnel -- two patrol officers -- talked the suspect into dropping the gun. He dropped the gun, took off some of his tactical gear, surrendered at that point. And he was led outside, put in a police car,” he said.
The suspected gunman was later identified as Payton Gendron, 18, of Conklin, a New York state community about 200 miles (320 kilometers) southeast of Buffalo, two law enforcement officials told The Associated Press. The officials were not permitted to speak publicly on the matter and did so on the condition of anonymity.
The suspect was being questioned Saturday evening by the FBI, one of the officials said, and Conklin was expected to appear in court later Saturday.
At the news briefing, Erie County Sheriff John Garcia pointedly called the shooting a hate crime.
“This was pure evil. It was straight up racially motivated hate crime from somebody outside of our community, outside of the City of Good neighbors ... coming into our community and trying to inflict that evil upon us,” Garcia said.
Elsewhere, NAACP President Derrick Johnson issued a statement in which he called the shooting “absolutely devastating.”
“Our hearts are with the community and all who have been impacted by this terrible tragedy. Hate and racism have no place in America. We are shattered, extremely angered and praying for the victims’ families and loved ones,” he added.
Separately, the Rev. Al Sharpton called on the White House to convene a meeting with Black, Jewish and Asian “to underscore the Federal government (is) escalating its efforts against hate crimes.” In a tweet, Sharpton said that “leaders of all these communities should stand together on this!”
The shooting came little more than a year after a March 2021 attack at a King Soopers grocery in Boulder, Colorado, that killed 10 people. Investigators have not released any information about why they believe the man charged in that attack targeted the supermarket.
At the scene in Buffalo on Saturday afternoon, police closed off an entire block, lined by spectators, and yellow police taped surrounded the full parking lot.
Braedyn Kephart and Shane Hill, both 20, pulled into the parking lot just as the shooter was exiting. They described him as a white male in his late teens or early twenties sporting full camo, a black helmet and what appeared to be a rifle.
“He was standing there with the gun to his chin. We were like what the heck is going on? Why does this kid have a gun to his face?” Kephart said. He dropped to his knees. “He ripped off his helmet, dropped his gun, and was tackled by the police.”
Tops Friendly Markets released a statement saying, “We are shocked and deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”
At the White House, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said President Joe Biden was receiving regular updates on the shooting and the investigation and had offered prayers with the first lady for the victims and their loved ones.
“The president has been briefed by his Homeland Security advisor on the horrific shooting in Buffalo, N.Y., this afternoon. He will continue to receive updates throughout the evening and tomorrow as further information develops,” she said.
Attorney General Merrick Garland was briefed on the shooting, Justice Department spokesperson Anthony Coley said.
More than two hours after the shooting, Erica Pugh-Mathews was waiting outside the store, behind police tape.
“We would like to know the status of my aunt, my mother’s sister. She was in there with her fiance, they separated and went to different aisles,” she said. “A bullet barely missed him. He was able to hide in a freezer but he was not able to get to my aunt and does not know where she is. We just would like word either way if she’s OK.”
Payton Gendron is the suspect accused of killing at least 10 people at a Tops Friendly Market grocery store in Buffalo, New York, on Saturday, May 14, 2022. Gendron was taken into custody at the scene, Buffalo Police said. Three others were wounded. Gendron is facing first-degree murder charges in New York state court and could also face federal charges, including hate crimes, officials said. The names of the victims have not been released yet.
A racist and anti-Semitic manifesto and a Twitch livestream were attributed online to the gunman, but authorities have not verified those accounts. A graphic video emerged that shows bodies lying in the parking lot as law enforcement officers take the suspect into custody. Gendron is from Conklin, New York. He said in the manifesto he is an 18-year-old college student and a self-described white supremacist. Gendron was shot by a security guard, but was not injured because he was wearing body armor, Buffalo Police said at a press conference
Conklin is more than 200 miles southeast of Buffalo in the Southern Tier region of New York. Gendron included his name in the manifesto and The Associated Press confirmed his identity with law enforcement sources. Gendron appeared in court Saturday night for his arraignment, officials said. He is being held without bail. He is scheduled to return to court in five days, according to authorities. A mugshot has not been released, but photos from the local media show Gendron in court:
The manifesto, which talks about the extremist far-right white or great replacement theory and includes alt-right 4chan memes and jokes, is similar to ones written by shooters who attacked a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand, the Tree of Life synagogue in Pennsylvania and an El Paso, Texas, Walmart in recent years, Yale professor Jason Stanley says.

The manifesto fixates on mass immigration.
“Mass immigration and the higher fertility rates of the immigrants themselves are causing this increase in population. We are experiencing an invasion on a level never seen before in history,” it says. “Millions of people pouring across our borders, legally. Invited by the state and corporate entities to replace the White people who have failed to reproduce, failed to create the cheap labor, failed to create new consumers and tax base that the corporations and states need to have to thrive.”
It continues, “This crisis of mass immigration and sub-replacement fertility is an assault on the European people that, if not combated, will ultimately result in the complete racial and cultural replacement of the European people.”
The manifesto, which refers to “white genocide,” contains a name and says that the author is “18 years old as of writing this. I am the sole perpetrator of the recent attempted mass shooting. I lived in Southern Tier, New York all my life with both my parents and 2 brothers. I believe I am ethnically white since my parent’s nationalities are from north-western Europe and Italy. I graduated highschool with a regents diploma with advanced designation and am currently enrolled in SUNY Broome with a major in Engineering Science.”
It continues, “I would love to continue this but there are bigger problems I’m more concerned with. I am not a warfighter, nor have I been enrolled in any military or tactical training, so excuse any mistakes I make during my attack. I was never diagnosed with a mental disability or disorder, and I believe to be perfectly sane.”
He claimed to be an “INTJ” personality type and included photos of a fake active shooter that often circulate online after mass shootings. The manifesto contains many pages of anti-Jewish memes and graphics.
The manifesto states:
"Why did you decide to carry out the attack?
To show to the replacers that as long as the White man lives, our land will never be theirs and they will never be safe from us.
To directly reduce immigration rates to European lands by intimidating and physically removing the replacers themselves.
To intimidate the replacers already living on our lands to emigrate back to their home countries.
To agitate the political enemies of my people into action, to cause them to overextend their own hand and experience the eventual and inevitable backlash as a result.
To incite violence, retaliation and further divide between the European people and the replacers currently occupying European soil…
To add momentum to the pendulum swings of history, further destabilizing and polarizing Western society in order to eventually destroy the current nihilistic, hedonistic, individualistic insanity that has taken control of Western thought."
The shooting is being investigated as a hate crime and case of racially motivated violent extremism, FBI Special Agent in charge of the Buffalo field office Stephen Belongia said. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York is also assisting in the investigation along with state and local authorities.
Erie County District Attorney John Flynn said at the press conference, “This individual will be arranged on a charge of murder in the first degree.” He called the shooting “despicable.” Flynn added, “That charge of murder in the first degree carries with it a life without parole sentence.” He said additional charges could also be filed at a later date.
A New Start

She wants nothing more than to be alone in her room with her thoughts. Mumbling to herself opening the door, she stumbles across him sitting on the couch. Pausing- before he can say anything- she’s already on her way to her room.
A little confused and stunned, he sits back on the couch and thinks over what just happened.
A few minutes pass and knocking at the door interrupts her silence. “What do you want?” she asks. Opening the door ajar, he speaks through the crack. “Can I come in?” he asks. She huffs, not answering. He takes that as a chance to open the door wider. He takes a look at her form and closes the door behind himself. Softly asking “What’s up with you?” Folding his arms awaiting her response.
“Nothing, don’t worry about it” she lies. Trying to get him out as soon as possible.
Tsking to himself at her response, his index finger pointing in her direction saying; “It doesn’t seem like it.
Enveloping herself into a moment of silence with her thoughts, she looks to him.
“I heard someone talking about how they like you and what their fantasies are about you. I just-whatever,” she says. “I feel like it’s weird that someone else want who I’m married to- and we’re not even working out.” she expresses.
Taking a few steps closer to her bed, he eyes her intently. “And what do you think about that?” he asks.
Almost snapping, her eyes shoot at him. “What the fuck do you- how do you think I feel? My one and only “marriage” isn’t real, and someone else wants to be with you! I feel like a fucking fraud of a wife! And we’re both so stubborn and opposite to even be in the same room together without giving each other ugly looks” she says almost exasperatedly.
His expression doesn’t change but the gears start turning. “Hm” he hums to himself. Mocking him and rolling her eyes, she turns back around. Deeming she has enough going on, he ignores that. “What makes you think you could be a fraud of a wife? To be fair and honest, we aren't romantically involved.” he says. She huffs. “Whatever, I guess you’re right. Shit still feels weird.” she says reluctantly agreeing.
“What feels weird?” “Just to be sure? I’m following,” he says. His hand gestures ‘no offense.
“The fact somebody else wants to have you,” She explains not finding offense. Now suddenly, expressing her thoughts aloud, she stands up. Her hands facing palm up frantically moving up and down she whisper-yells; “This just feels weird. My only husband I’m going to ever have and somebody wants him. And I don’t even have him,” she says. Her arms outstretched by her sides. Not caring about being vulnerable or ‘confessing. Standing up abruptly he walks to her, placing his hands on the sides of her face. Starling her a little, her hand reflexively moving to his. “Who said you don’t have me?” he asks seriously and amused. “You got me wrapped around you and you don’t even know it” he chuckles, hanging his head low for a second. He looks back into her big doe looking eyes. Listening intently to his every word.
“All because I was being too stubborn and worried to tell you. I deeply apologize to you. For everything. I know words won’t fix everything you felt, so I can please let my actions speak?” he asks carefully. His eyes not leaving hers. A tear can’t help but escape.

When was your last Pap smear?
Because I am tired of seeing young people (think 40 year olds!) die horribly of an almost completely preventable disease, and I haven't seen the obligatory Tumblr PSA about it, so I'm making my own.
1. CERVICAL CANCER IS REALLY BAD
Cancers that have a good prognosis are usually cancers that can be caught early--like skin cancer, which is easily seen, and therefore usually treated very early. Cervical cancer does not give you symptoms until you have very advanced disease, which means unless someone is regularly testing your cervix, you will likely not be diagnosed early. More than half of people diagnosed with cervical cancer present with advanced disease. 75% of them will be dead within 5 years. For comparison, when caught in the earliest stage, there is a 90% 5 year survival rate. Treatment for those diagnosed is chemo and radiation, and believe me, those are not fun. If you do happen to be in the lucky 25% of survivors, if your cancer comes back, you have an 85% chance of dying within a year. Also! We think of cancer as something that happens to old people, but the average age of diagnosis for cervical cancer is 50.
2. WHO GETS CERVICAL CANCER?
Cervical cancer used to be the most common cause of cancer-related death in women in America, but at this point it's basically a disease of People Without Pap Smears--developing countries, immigrants, low socioeconomic status, BIPOC, rural communities, LGBTQ, etc.
3. HOW DO PAP SMEARS SAVE YOUR LIFE?
A Pap smear is a screening test for two things: HPV, and your cervical cells. HPV is the most common sexually transmitted disease in the world. Literally half of the people in America have some strain of HPV on their body. Most HPV infections go away on their own (in people with healthy immune systems), but some strains are Very Bad, and some people are just Very Unlucky, and the HPV starts causing your cervical cells to turn cancerous. 91% of all cervical cancers are caused by HPV. So a Pap smear looks to see if your have HPV, and if so, is it one of the bad ones? And also, do you have any cancerous cells hanging about in your cervix? And! It takes 10-30 years for HPV to turn those cells into cancer, which means you have a really really long time to catch it before it becomes cancer and cut those pre-cancer cells out!
4. WHAT ABOUT THAT VACCINE?
The thing my dad said I shouldn't get because it might make me a slut. Yes! There is an HPV vaccine! You should get it! It protects you against the nine most common cancer-causing types of HPV. It's recommended starting at age 11, and you can get it up to age 45 now! (It used to be 26, but as of 2020, it's now extended.)You can get it from most primary care doctors, or from Planned Parenthood, CVS, Walgreens, etc. If you get the vaccine you still need Pap smears.
5. I HEARD YOU CAN ONLY GET THE VACCINE IF YOU'RE A VIRGIN
Fake news. While the vaccine does not treat old infections of HPV, it does prevent new ones, so while the benefits are theoretically decreased in those who have already been sexually active, it does not mean you will not benefit from having it!
6. WHO GETS PAP SMEARS?
Everyone with a cervix starting at age 21, until you lose your cervix or until you're 65. You should get them every 3-5 years (depending on your exact age and what test your doctor does).
7. BUT I GOT THE VACCINE
Nice! You still need Pap smears.
8. I HAD ONE AND IT WAS HORRIBLE/I'M SCARED OF THE EXAM
Talk to your doctor about this in advance! Good gynecologists (and other providers) will work with you to minimize discomfort as much as possible. They can use a small speculum and lots of gel, prescribe anti-anxiety medications to take in advance, and some people will even use numbing creams and/or laughing gas.
9. BUT I DON'T HAVE/CAN'T SEE A GYN
Most primary care physicians can do them! So do a lot of urgent care centers!
10. BUT I'M A LESBIAN
HPV can be transmitted through oral/genital contact, hand/genital, and even hand-to-hand-then-genital, so you still need Pap smears.
11. BUT I'M A VIRGIN/ASEXUAL
You still need Pap smears. HPV can be transmitted not just through penetrative sex, but also through oral/genital, hand/genital, and hand-to-hand-then-genital, and also 9% of cervical cancers are not caused by HPV.
12. BUT I'M A TRANSGENDER MAN
If your cervix was removed, then congrats! You do not need Pap smears. Otherwise, unfortunately, you are still at risk for cervical cancer and need to be screened.
13. BUT I'M A TRANSGENDER WOMAN
Neovaginas do not need Pap smears! Congrats! Consider getting the vaccine, though, to prevent spreading HPV to others.
14. BUT I'M A CIS-GENDERED MAN
Congrats! You do not need Pap smears! You should still consider the vaccine though, not only to prevent the spread of HPV to others, but also because HPV causes 50% of all penile cancers as well.
In summary: please please please go get your pap smear. Go get vaccinated. The spread of HPV can be prevented, and cervical cancer can be caught and treated before it even becomes cancer.

Steve looks intently at Bucky; spilling the question. “Do you like my sister?” Steve asks. “What?!” Bucky exclaims. “Do you like my sister?” Steve asks again. It’s a wonder how Bucky was able to ask his question; between tripping on his words and trying to sort out his fast, blurry thoughts, he asks. “Who’s your sister?” “_____.” Steve immediately responds.
Bucky realizes why it seemed like he wasn’t talking to his best friend at the moment. He’s talking to his crush’s brother. ‘He seems to know about it, so let’s just be honest, Bucky thinks.
“Yeah,” he says, rubbing his folded arm that’s resting on his bent knees.
Steve nods, accepting the truth.
“All I need from you- if you plan on acting on these feelings, don’t hurt her. Don’t do anything that can bring pain to her. I’m happy that you found someone, my sister nonetheless. But that also means I’m going to be at times her brother instead of your best friend. Which also means that I may be a little tougher on you when it comes to making certain decisions that could involve her. I won’t be in your relationship but I will make sure you’re both taken care of.” he expresses.
Bucky’s stunned. Not because his friend approves, he had a feeling that he would regardless but; surprised for accepting him again. And with someone very important to them both.
Yes it’s their choice if they want to date, but he feels much happier knowing that his crush’s brother, his best friend,agrees.
Bucky turns to Steve and graces him in a big hug. Surprised by the sudden gesture, but hugs back nonetheless.
Parting from the hug, Bucky’s face falls in realization. “Oh shit” he mutters. “What?” Steve asks, “I haven’t thought about how to ask her out.” Bucky says. Steve can only try to contain his snickers and fails miserably. Letting his loud laugh flow from his chest and out his mouth. Head thrown back and smacking his knee, he looks over at his best friend and laughs harder.
“Hahaha, you need help- asking-her-out-” Steve chimes as he laughs more.
“So can you help me?” Bucky asks, a little amused by Steve’s outburst but also nervous shitless. Steve cools down, well attempting after another round of laughs. When he finally calms down enough to speak full sentences, he exposes “I can help you with a lot of things, but getting you with my sister? Nah,” Steve responds, as he lets the new laugh rumble from his stomach. Bucky grumbles to himself trying not to laugh at Steve’s withering figure.
‘Now how in the Hell do I ask her out?’ Bucky thinks as he watches Steve. Cracking into a smile himself then bursts out laughing with Steve; when Steve takes another glance at disgruntled friend.
