Don't want to start shit with izzy fans but also genuinely baffled by the take that izzy is responding to stede in the way that he is in defense of his safe space, or that he is trying to push out an outsider to defend piracy, or that he's a "start a riot" queer among "love wins" queers.

Because this dude literally called the cops because ed fell in love with another man. Which safe space? What riot? His way of protecting the safe space of piracy is calling in the navy to apprehend a ship that had his own crew on it? Also, in what way was izzy cultivating a safe space for pirates? He is actively antagonistic to every pirate we see him interact with and almost gets mutinied the second he's left to captain a ship. Izzy is also a relatively restrained guy who we don't see take a lot of unnecessary risks. The other pirates on the ship break out into a literal riot while boarded by the navy.

The type of queer i see him as is the kind of guy who thinks kink at pride is disgusting despite clearly being the biggest closet freak on the planet. Citing him as the start a riot queer on a ship where buttons is running around ass out dodging the cops izzy called, roach is being roach, and lucius and Pete are sucking and fucking on the clock while izzy seethes is so wild to me.

Like izzy is middle manager doling out lateral aggression because it's the only way he can feel powerful, not a radical defender of queer safe spaces. And the funny thing is, i don't hate izzy and am fully on board with him getting a redemption arc if that's where the story is going! I just fundamentally think the guy izzy stans like is a fanon construct and not the dude i watched on tv.
