The attraction was there, it just wasn't discussed as much as it should have been

GO SEE VOL 3
Look: Everything Gunn does in his movies means something. The mix songs mean something, the score means something, there are real Easter eggs in the credits and more.
Remember how the P+G heart in the Vol 2 credits (plus the other doodles that showed us it was definitely Peter’s art) was part of how he told us they were together even though they didn't kiss/explicitly get together at the end?
This is him doing the same thing in the Vol 3 credits:
You want Gunn to tell you that Gamora is part of the family/has a future with Peter in a more explicit way? This is him telling you.
I guess you could say that comic fans knew where this was going but for people who only know the Guardians through the MCU? What a slap in the face
Man that vol 3 trailer really screwed us up thinking that the Lylla + Rocket hug was them meeting again only for her to get fatally shot two seconds later
I wanna take a second to appreciate the makeup and special effects team that worked on Zoe Saldana for Vol 3 because I noticed that you can finally, finally see the yellow patches around her eyes from the comics.
You could see it in Vol 2 during Yondu's funeral, if only briefly
But I noticed that it's more prominent in Vol 3 in some scenes that I couldn't find pictures for.
