I tried to be a canon shipper once, it was awful.Obsessed with literary analysis and it's everyone's problem.Currently a Tendonna stan account.I'm FizzySodaTales on AO3 and post a fic from time to time.

This hurts my soul. But yes, this is true. Ow.

I love so much about this tiny clip from Doctor Who Confidential
David tries to protect Freema & Catherine from his earth-shattering sneeze by moving away from them
Freema covers her ears to protect herself from the sound-barrier breaking blast
Catherine is 100% not bothered. Not even the tiniest flinch
That the producers of Doctor Who Confidential thought David’s sneeze (and Freema & Catherine’s reactions - or lack thereof) was worth including in the episode - and I thank them for it

Bonus:
This is lovely. Totally what I loved about them as well <3 I was so captivated by their potential for a truly mature relationship. Also they just. Have fun together. Which is so underrated in romantic relationships (or shipping, or whatever.)
*it's past midnight here and I'm getting a sudden urge to write an essay on why I ship doctordonna romantically*
So it seems that general fandom still insists on them being platonic, besties, brotp etc. And I'm fine with that, people have the right to interpret fictional characters any way they like. But! Ten and Donna were the first non-canon couple I have ever shipped. Like, ever. I have never understood the thrill of shipping characters. But these two made me go "NO, this is WRONG, they belong together!" Of course, I blame the absolutely incredible chemistry between David and Catherine (and it only seems to intensify with time, which is even better!) But as for the general fandom perception... I remember seeing a post here a few days ago, which I can't find again, but somebody said something along the lines "maybe they are not so shippable (is that even a word or am I *in Donna's voice* Just Saying Things?) because they are the same age and look the same age, and if Catherine were 20, people would ship the hell out of it". But for me that's the whole point! Because we - women who are not in their 20s anymore - need representation too, and need to be portrayed as desirable. We need to be the love interest. Btw, that's probably why I'm not a fan of doctordonna fanart showing them as cute-babylike-chibi creatures (not a fan of the style in general, although I know some people like it and that's fine etc). But I love that the Doctor and Donna look like actual adults! They have wrinkles, their jawlines are sagging a bit and so on. And there's no need to pretend those things are not there. That's how humans (well... Time Lords and Ladies too, apparently) look and it's beautiful.
And finally, the friendship thing. I really do appreciate friendship, I believe it is very important by itself. But also that it is the foundation of a long-term term mature loving relationship. And Doctor and Donna fit that narrative perfectly - well, in my head, anyway. On a more personal note, I somehow managed to end up being in love with a person who only saw me as a friend twice in my life. (Those were two different people, obviously. Lol) It took me about ten years to move on from the second story. So I guess imagining the Doctor and Donna ending up together and not just friends is my way of dealing with that trauma.
So yeah. It's all personal in the end. But that's why we need fiction and fictional characters, right?
