even as the other spoke, red-rimmed eyes had yet to leave what was now just another body to add to blamore's count — not that it was actually keeping track of all the blood it had split or anything. all blamore knew was that he originally thought the corpse of the man lying below the both of them could have potential, because he was smart, and resilient. it seemed like it was wrong however. a soft hum of amusement left burgeon's lips at the other's quip. humor was something he honestly didn't hear enough of in gotham, with it constantly being all 'doom and gloom.' so he believed that it was a nice change of pace to hear lonnie use it to cope with the current predicament they were in. (or, at least, that's what he guessed was why they had made that comment.)

though anarky appeared to have retreated into being serious with him almost immediately. which, wasn't all that surprising, seeing as the way the man died was rather grisly. that is... whenever you considered the egregious amount of blood that was trailing down from his mouth. a very faint and clinical smile tugged at one corner of burgeon's lips while it's tail curved slightly behind it in curiosity, ❝ mm, i just gave him what he wanted, really. i have gotten my hands on these brilliant little things i like to call seeds and usually... they would endow an ordinary person like him with powers. but sometimes, it just doesn't take, unfortunately. and this process honestly has more to do with them than it ever has to do with me. so, i don't know what you're getting mad at me for. ❞

to say that blamore sounded cheerful even as he talked about a subject as harrowing as this wouldn't be an exaggeration. half of it could've been attributed to its accent, though, as it took a step closer to the body. of course he knew why lonnie was angry, but that didn't change the fact that he was going to toy with them about it, ❝ nature often works in mysterious ways, you know. it gives life, but it also takes life away. although there's no use in crying over spilled milk, so i'm just going to pick him up and be on my way, d'accord?* ❞
