Honestly bizarre that tomatoes get all the flack for “not being a vegetable” because they're technically a fruit when:

A) There are a ton of fruits that get categorised as vegetables. Like this also applies to pumpkins, squashes and cucumbers.

B) The fucking mushrooms are standing there at the back of the crowd in this witch trial, trying to look inconspicuous because they somehow got into the vegetable club with no fucking controversy despite the fact that they're not even plants.

hello, friends. i'm merryana. i am non-binary and lebanese and, well. 2024 has been a difficult year for me.

i've been unemployed since i was bullied out of my job for speaking up about palestine in january, i had to have emergency surgery on my foot that left me unable to walk for 3 months, i had to replace my laptop hard-drive after it fried in a power surge and i lost years worth of work, AND i got diagnosed with ADHD but due to a suspected heart condition currently being investigated am unable to be medicated.

honestly, this isn't even half of what i've been through this year, and i've been through all of it while being unsuccessful at finding a stable source of income AND i'm turning 30 on October 20. needless to say i am not where i thought i'd be at this point in my life at all. i am trying not to let that get me too down.

australia was colonised according to the myth of terra nullius (or empty land). ever since the very early days of colonialism, the land has been framed as something untameable and unliveable. this has justified acts of violence against the first peoples here, in that they are seen as non-people. it has justified the destruction of sacred land in the goal of making australia look more european. (an example: our capital city contains a man-made lake that is now nothing better than a fetid carp pond. it’s disgusting and unnatural). basically, the idea of “taming australia’ has justified endless harm

“everything in australia is weird and dangerous” is not just some silly meme phrase, it is something that arcs back to the very beginning of white settlers laying claim to ‘australia’. and personally I am very sick of seeing it thrown around like it means nothing
