Christ-likeness matters so much more than theological learning or rigour. Better heresy of doctrine than heresy of heart.

Dead Man's Dust

Dead Man's Dust

Intent: For preventing spirits from following you home.

Ingredients:

1 pt Chili Pepper (any type)

1 pt Salt

1 pt Basil

1 pt Garlic Powder

1⁄2 pt Dill

1⁄2 pt Lemon Peel

Optional: Add a pinch of Curry or Cumin for extra oomph.

Note: Powdered versions of most herbs are available online. I recommend Starwest Botanicals and Penn Herbs for quality products at reasonable prices. Also, if you can get your hands on a good electric spice grinder, you can make your own powder from dried herb products. If you don't have premade powdered herbs, grind each ingredient separately to produce fine powder. Sieve the material through the mesh strainer into the collection dish; this removes the larger unground pieces and gives you cleaner powdered herb. (Pro-Tip: Putting a funnel under the mesh strainer reduces lost material and makes collection much easier.)

Combine the component powders in the collection dish, mix well, and bottle immediately. Label with the name, date, and ingredients for future reference.

This powder performs one of the functions of Banishing Powder, but with special attention to warding off pesky ghosts. After visiting historical or haunted locations, or any time you feel spooked while walking home, sprinkle a palmful of powder on the ground and scrape your feet on it (as if you were wiping off dirt) to keep anything ghostly from following you home. Take three steps backward and spit toward the powder, then continue on your way.

For extra protection, toss a pinch of Banishing Powder, Threshold Powder, or Black Salt over your doorstep when you get home.

Note: For safety's sake, make sure you never cast this powder into the wind and wash your hands after use. Leftover particles on your skin can cause pain and irritation if they come into contact with your eyes or breathing passages.

So like as someone who was raised religious but was never into it. How does one pray? Like, I can repeat shit for hours but like. What's the real deal with prayer? Can I get a how-to guide?

Oh boy I wish there was a how-to but its different for everyone.

I think there are several different types of prayer to consider:

1) spontaneous prayer: a short phrase or wish you exclaim in certain situations. Eg “the trees are so beautiful tonight, praise God!” or “I hope God comforts the family of whoever is in that hearse that just drove by” . This type of prayer is actually really important in keeping your prayer life active. There are so many situations in our daily lives that can lead us to pray instinctively. Making a habit out of it really pulls those moments into focus.

2) meditative prayer: this is probably the one you’re most curious about. How do I get to a place where I really - feel - the prayer? There are several ways of doing this, and it’s really very personal to you as to which works.

The first thing is to set aside enough time so you don’t feel pressured to pray quickly. Maybe you’re someone who likes to have candles and incense, or maybe you want to open the window and let in fresh air and the sound of nature. Maybe you just like absolute silence. Maybe you like Death Metal in the background. Whatever you prefer, set the mood as far as possible, and get comfortable.

Repetition of set prayers, as mentioned above, can be a good way to get into the zone. It calms you down, focuses you on the space you’re in, and clears your head. Some people use prayer beads or rosaries for this, though it’s not necessary, but they do provide a clear structure. Having music that calms you down is another option.

Once you feel calm and clear, it’s time to get down to the nitty gritty. I find myself very exposed during this part. All the doubts and fears inside me well up in a great wave of emotion, and that’s when I know what I’ll be praying about. Prayer can be a way of making our internal cries external, and placing them before God. Sometimes even just the act of acknowledging their existence is healing in and of itself, but there is a special feeling of freedom when you rid yourself of something that has been gnawing at you for days and just hold it up before God and ask Him to help you.

Sometimes the negative feelings don’t come, and you’re bursting with joy. Great! Let it wash over you!

Meditative prayer is very personal and individual, so everyone will have different experiences. But it’s a great way to get to know yourself, because there is no way to lie to God. Prayer forces you to be honest. That can be difficult, but also liberating. Try it out and see if anything happens for you, but be open minded about it, or it won’t happen.

3) community prayer: praying in community is powerful and beautiful, and often helps remind us how common our problems and joys are. It binds us together as a family. Whether you pray with family, a church community, friends, whatever.

4) desperate prayer: this is when you are just drawn to pray. Maybe there has been a major life event that has impacted you, maybe you’re just having a strange day, maybe you’re in a particularly inspiring place. Whatever the cause, sometimes we feel so full to the brim with emotion that we need to release the feelings through prayer. This can get pretty powerful. I remember having some of these moments and they were some of the most profound experiences I’ve had. There’s no way of making them happen, but they’re pretty cool.

5) screaming at God: probably the most therapeutic of all of them.

I hope this was somewhat helpful?

🕯 Jewish Entities 🕯

Many folks know that Judaism is a closed practice, but don't always know how to spot appropriation. Here is a list of Jewish entities that aren't shared with Christianity, meaning they are closed to non-Jews.* This list isn't fully-comprehensive, but I've marked some of the more popular ones. (For Jewitches, this could also be treated as a list for Jewish spirit workers who want to reclaim some of these entities as part of our own path!)

*Note: Some of these entities ARE shared with Islam (another initiatory tradition,) so they would still be open for our Muslim friends to work with but still restricted to the general public. Those entities are marked with an asterisk*.

Astrology Observations - Rising Signs & Planets

Astrology Observations - Rising Signs & Planets

Cancer rising as a parent unintentionally will tend to impose their upbringing's rules and traditions unto their household, and if these are discarded or not followed, they can get pretty upset or offended (they won't tell you this, tough), because attempting to organize and structure the life of their loved ones is one of the strongest ways to show their tenderness and care. This is especially true in routines related to food and family time.

Saturn rising, particularly in Capricorn (and to a lesser degree in the other earth signs) gives amazing bone structure, pretty teeth and refined face shape (well-sculpted cheekbones). They are likely not ones who have experienced broken bones in their childhoods. Depending on the ASC sign, Saturn here may also cause short stature and a sturdy anatomy.

Gemini risings often possess appealing and vibrant gesticulations, beautiful and elongated hands, feet and limbs, a unique tone of voice and a ridiculously contagious smile or laughter. On the flipside (sorry to say this), many of them are very good liars and tricksters, as their high intellect quickly figures out what you want to hear and see in them.

A secret us Scorpio rising folks don't what you to know is that whenever we are interested in you, our eyes will give us away rather easily. We'll hardly confess our feelings until much later, if at all, but if you feel under a microscope in our presence (if you are subject of our involuntarily eerie and soul-piercing gaze), you should know we really like you. You might as well think we hate or despise you... but it's completely the opposite!

Leo risings have gorgeous thick and voluminous hair, usually on the wavy side. They love to buy nice things that draws attention to them, as they enjoy standing out of the crowd even if they are more on the reserved or introverted side of the spectrum. They really don't mind spending their money on costly clothes, makeup or jewelry if they think that makes them more beautiful, even if it actually damages their finances. They love to select and buy gifts too!

Jupiter rising can exaggerate your rising sign's ruling body parts. For example, in Cancer: large boobs or wide thorax / in Taurus: wide and sensuous lips / in Libra: beautiful face, amazing skin and voluminous butt, etc. Unfortunately, Jupiter rising folks can also get overweight super easily.

Mercury ruling risings (including Mercury 1st house and Venus in Gemini) usually make the native look younger than they really are. They also have something really noticeable about their walk... from clumsy to swift, all styles will differ, but they will move in ways that are out of the ordinary, for some reason.

Mars ruling risings NEED some sort of intense physical activity to be balanced, if not, they can literally go crazy due to all their bottled-up anger and restless energy. That's why many of them have a knack for the military, gym or sports, not only because they are good at them, but because this eases their stress in a way nothing else can. And yes, sex is included too.

Water risings, particularly Pisces (including Neptune and Moon in 1st house/conjunct ASC) have the most mesmerizing stare. It doesn’t matter their size or form, their gaze is otherworldly, ethereal, and somehow hypnotic. Water rising souls speak through their eyes, and I’m in love with that.

A Mars rising man can be mistaken for a f*ck boy much easier than other placements, especially if they have Air or Fire in 1st house. Women with this placement have huge sex appeal too, but they tend to attract a lot of envy and rivalry from other females, as their personality is perceived as confrontational and aggressive, even if they don’t act that way. This configuration gives good results when they work with men, but not so much with women.

Thanks for reading! 😘
