Late-night Akium analysis on Maeno's relationship with Tsugino

ZENO SPOILERS

yes, i know i stated the saving tsugino thing was maeno's chronic hero syndrome before but to be fair, at the time, i saw maeno's feelings for tsugino as platonic because i'm not the best at reading social cues and hints.

reading into it more, i realised that bro straight up was willing to die for this man. like genuinely he needs to cure tsugino so much it's insane

also something i discussed to the person i was rambling about despite everything, maeno is still tsugino's doctor throughout what we see of their relationship. and the thing is, there are literal laws that prevent from doctor and patients from forming relationships because of florence nightingale effect and all and they have to be separated for a long while until they are able to date. like maeno likely never explicitly says "i love you" to tsugino because he's not meant to or else there are consequences.

and i imagine even while he doesn't have his memories, he doesn't try to get all romantic with tsugino because it might be a "yeah i might be a lil gay for you but we gotta get out of this facility and OH MY GOD YOU'RE GOING CRAZY I GOTTA FIX THAT!"

also just generally, he can't even have a relationship with tsugino if he doesn't cure him lol. imagine trying to be with someone who wants to kill you and eat your organs all the time, that wouldn't be the best relationship ever.
